Brake Pads overheat

Comments On May 28, 2013:These pads do not come with the metal shield like the OEM pads from Honda. I thought it would be no big deal until I had the brakes overheat. went back to OEM Honda pads and no problems!

Great set of Brake pads

Comments On Feb 18, 2013:Installed new pads and reused old rotor, after cleaning rotor. Bike stops on a dime and gives you nine cents change. Brake pads work great. Would purchase again would recommend to a friend.

Comments On Jun 21, 2012:I race hare scrambles and enduros in some nasty conditions: water, mud and silt. These brakes stop. During a 5 hour enduro I can heat these pads up pretty good. They might start squeaking (rear) but they continue doing their job; which is slowing/stopping the bike. If you are looking for reliable and consistent performance, rely on EBC. 5 stars for front pads and 4 stars for the rears. The rears wear a little quicker than I would like... BUT also note that I am hard on my brakes.

Comments On Sep 14, 2011:One thing about these pads is they seem to require a little more force on the brake in order to achieve the same stopping power as the stock pads. For me this was a good thing since the stock KTM pads gave a light switch effect, the brakes where on or off, very hard to modulate. They seem to be wearing about the same if not slower then stock, although the stock pads were used mostly in muddy conditions and these have seen a lot more dry conditions.
Overall I'm very happy and would for sure buy these again.

Comments On Mar 16, 2010: These are fantastic out of the box but wish they would stay so aggressive their lifetime. That would be expecting too much though. Contamination and wear is unavoidable. The contamination in the rotor is was causes squeal from new pads for those wondering (only sometimes). Bead blast rotors when possible. If you want to ride hard and think you may need a pair, well you need a pair! Brings out the lever also. I always buy sintered for the durable, aggressive, and consistent aspects for heavy bikes w/ good tires. Don't try to compromise or save a few bucks when it comes to brakes. EBC Sintered, can't go wrong.

Havn't gotten to ride them

Comments On May 03, 2009:i just installed these pads on my 400ex and right from the start i had trouble installing them because they were too thick for my caliper. not sure how that worked but after tapping them down with a hammer and running the bike for about an hour with the pads rubbing the rotor the whole time they seem like they work decent... not sure why they didn't fit though...

Good pads but...

Comments On Dec 10, 2008:The pads work great at stopping my 450, but my fronts are squeeling like a stuck pig now and I can't see a reason why? Still plenty of pad material and the rotor is fine... Unless they glazed over? I'll let you know when I change them again..
Additional Comments On Feb 15, 2009:Just replaced both front and rear pads with EBC again. Now both F & R squeal like stuck pigs. I overheated the rear brake in practice till the pedal had no brake. After cooling it came back, I bled it with fresh fluid. Brakes squealed again both motos but never lost the brake. Strange? I never had this problem on other bikes. Unknown cause.

Comments On Jan 08, 2009:Not sure what all the hubbub is about, but the noise they make when wet is like fingernails on a blackboard... I have tried them on a Warrior, Raptor 660, and Raptor 700 with identical results. It also takes a lot more force on the brake pedal to engage them.

Comments On Jun 09, 2008:These brake pads work much better than OEM brake pads in fair weather. They have a great bite to them. However, if you're riding in very dry or hot conditions (e.g. Utah), you should consider using the Galfer carbon brake pads. They are more durable in extremely dry and hot conditions.

Comments On Mar 04, 2008:for xc racing theses pads are great, I don't care which pads you use, 1 1/2 hours on the xc course will use up a set of pads. These I can get 3 races usually with pad still left before I change out. Been using ebc for 15 years off and on and always come back to ebc.

Comments On Jan 11, 2008:I replaced the stock pads with EBC sintered metal pads and noticed that after wear-in they had a more linear feel. They fit just as the stock pads did and were about 2/3 the price. When I need to replace my pads again, I will use these.
