Comments On May 07, 2013:After reading all the rants about the difficulty of installing these soles I decided to replace my worn soles. I know these soles don't last very long but i've never had by boot slip off the peggs either! Traction comes at a price. Instellation was sraight forward...... heat soles with heat gun, (sorry folks a hair dryer, unless its a super industrial heavey duty one, don't cut it) pry off the old soles, (no they won't fall off the glue is pretty good) clean off all old glue, apply several coats new glue, (yes you need a brush) allow to dry, heat and install soles and press edges down with a large straight blade screw driver. After thy cool they are as good as new. If you want to skimp and not use the proper equipment... please don"t rate a product you have no ability to properly install or use!

Comments On Dec 28, 2012:Take them to a professional cobbler. $20 later you have soles that will last as long as they did when you first bought your boots. I'll use this product and my local cobbler again and again.

Comments On May 14, 2012:I found it very easy to get the old sole off, I had a very hot heat gone and it pulled off in one piece. New one went on easy followed directions exactly but its coming on glued. Might try it again with a diferent glue or I might give up on Astars.

Comments On Feb 19, 2012:I was very disappointed with the difficulty of changing these sole inserts. You need a heat gun to get the glue hot enough to get the old ones off and then the new ones didn't stick very well. They don't last very long either. Definitely would not recommend the tech 7's.

Comments On Apr 19, 2010:Changing these sole inserts out was easy. All it took was two hours, three people, four pairs of vise grips, a hair dryer, needle nose pliers, a razor blade, a heat gun, shishkabob sticks, an oven mitt, paper towels, and a full vocabulary of four letter words.
"Replaceable" is hardly a word that describes the way Alpinestars designed these inserts.
