Comments On Jun 18, 2013:I figured a chains a chain so i just bought the x ring because they look cool and i have heard about them but it turns out there really strong i haven't had to tighten my chain on my Kawasaki 450 for 4 months where as stock i was at least once a month

Comments On Jun 12, 2013:Chain fits perfectly, almost too perfectly! Was worried that the chain wasnt going to be long enough and fear that if I had gone larger sprockets, the chain would not have fit properly. Besides that, works perfectly so far!

Comments On Jun 06, 2013:Took me along time to find a chain that format stretch on my kx. This chain never needs adjusting with the steel sprockets. This is the best combo on the market u can buy

Comments On May 31, 2013:looks trick, wont wear out as fast as standard and its strong! only problem is is that u should get a chain tool cuz we had to put the master link on without the o rings cux we couldn't get the masterlink in the slot but holds up great!

Comments On May 23, 2013:For my application i needed a spacer for my front sprocket because this chain was too wide for my project yz125 and would grind into the case if i didn't put a spacer. Other than that the chain seems to hold up well. (again it is only a 125 not a 450 torque machine)

Comments On Apr 10, 2013:DON'T BUY!!!Spend a Little more $$ on a Better Chain!!!I'm about the 5th guy on here that a Primary Drive chain broke on a 450 bike.Spend the extra $$$ and buy something else. When It broke it cracked my engine Case that was $650 alone.LAST time I buy Primary Drive ANYTHING.

Comments On Mar 19, 2013:I've had many chains over the years and I always thought you get what you pay for and that just isn't true.. these chains have held up as well or even better than the $120+ chains i've purchased in the past

Comments On Feb 28, 2013:Well I finally got around to installing this chain & im wondering if I made a mistake buying it. First off it came virtually dry. So dry that I wont run it without lubing it first. Thats a first for any new chain Ive ever bought in 30 years.Second the master link did not come with grease pack to lube it. Another first with a oring or xring chain. The master link was also virtually dry. Luckily I have the better part of a grease pack that came with a DID oring master link & I can use that. I purchased a chain a couple links longer than I needed cuz I am adding a tooth to my rear sprocket & also installing hammerhead axle blocks which are a bit larger than the oem ones & I wondered if that alone might need another link. Anyway I went to break the chain & discovered that again there was virtually no grease in the sealed link. Never seen any chain so dry when brand new. It is so dry that if you hang the chain up it appears kinked. It isnt but it should move better than that. You cant lube behind a oring & the grease installed when the chain was built is all there is.Im wondering about the life of this chain now.Time will tell but I can say at this point in not a happy camper & cant recommend this chain. It looks like cheap building & just not using enough grease when making the chain.
Additional Comments On Mar 17, 2013:Just a lil update. While I was not impressed with this chain due to its lack of lubrication when brand new it is holding up really well so far. I have 7.0 hrs of moto track time on it now & at about 1-2 hours I had to make a small chain adjustment which is normal with most all new chains as they tend to stretch a bit when first used. At the 7 hour mark it has not needed any further adjustments. Its installed on a 450 & 450's put a chain to pretty hard use. At this point I can recommend this chain.

Comments On Jan 29, 2013:Great chain. Getting the master link on of the first time is a bit of a chore. But once installed and properly lubricated it will last for what seems like forever. Stretch is minimal unless you dont have it adjusted correctly. Im unsure if the extra price is worth it in comparison to the O ring chain, but they are different. But I havent worn this one out yet, so time will tell.

Comments On Jan 24, 2013:Awesome chain, and I ride my CR250 hard, mostly woods. The chain required one first adjustment, and have not had to touch it with over 30 hard hours. The gold finish wears off where it runs through the guides, but that is it. I do take care of my chains.

Comments On Jan 02, 2013:The abuse it takes. The chain is strong hardly stretches so there are not as many chain adjustments that need made. The o-rings are durable taking all the sand, mud, and cleaning chemicals without breaking down. I have cleaned and oiled the chain and it has outlived my sprockets and is still in great condition yes its not shiny and its discolored but the chain, links, and o-rings are in great shape ready to be used on another set of sprockets! A FANTASTIC STRONG CHAIN.

Comments On Dec 08, 2012:I bought this for a KLR650, to replace the stock chain. (I ride mostly on the street) I changed it with the front and rear sprockets. I could feel the difference right away. The bike felt stronger. I've been using it for a few months now. I haven't noticed any stretch at all. I haven't been keeping up on the cleaning and oiling of it, but there is only slight rust in a couple spots. The bike sits out side all the time. I will buy this chain again.

Comments On Nov 27, 2012:Can't be the price for an x-ring gold chain. Really heavy compared to other x-rings I have used in the past. Very durable chain, but the gold finish wears away quickly.

Comments On Oct 31, 2012:I usually go through about three MX chains a year. WIth this chain I almost never have to adjust it. In fact I actually had to heat up the adjuster locknut with a propane torch because I hadn't adjusted it in so long. Great chain.

Comments On Oct 03, 2012:My Son has now been riding for about 6 Years, we started off on a Trailbike, went to 2 Strokes and now he is riding a KX250F, and on all the bikes we owned so far (5) we have used nothing but Primary Drive Chains and Sprockets when it was time to replace the OEM. No Complaints what so ever, my Son is pretty hard on it, it is a very good product at a reasonable Price.

Comments On Jul 07, 2012:This chain broke on the second ride, no apparent reason, I assume it was a defective link.

Comments On Jul 15, 2012:Wears like steel.

Comments On Jul 15, 2012:While this has been a good chain, it will not stand up to higher torque bigger bore bikes the way it ought. I ride XR400 - tweaked. The chain did hold up well for 2 yrs of hard riding, but near the end, the pins began to fracture inside the chain. The way i found out was using a chain breaker in a random spot of the chain, I was going to take it apart to splice in a new section (don't ask). Well, I only had to break the chain in one place, and it all came apart, since the other pin was already fractured. I had no idea it was fractured. It was a bomb ready to explode. The other two times this chain broke on the prior ride, it was the same thing, those darn pins fractured in the middle somewhere. While this chain DID last me about 2 yrs, near the end, when its looking used and sprockets are worn, REPLACE IT. I bet on a smaller bore (250 and lower) bikes it would be fine and last a long time.
Additional: links get stiff with age. breakage was brittle failure. This experience was with the cheapo Primary drive sprockets, steel. I'll use those again probably but upgrade the front to the higher end design.

Comments On Jul 11, 2012:its almost the middle of july, bought and put on this chain in march. one very small adjustment is all! the gold color fades quickly but the strength of this chain on a mx bike is awesome.normally id have had to order a new chain and sprocket set by now, so this is cost effective also.

Comments On Jul 06, 2012:great chain, no problems, mostly been riding in rain and mud over the winter, looks awesome with the right amount of stretch on my ktm 300. I am sold on primary drive for sure.

Comments On Jun 05, 2012:We used this chain on our crf450x race bike in last weeks Baja 500. Fit was perfect with no filing of the case required. Lasted the whole race along with 250 miles of pre running and required no adjustment.

Comments On Feb 21, 2012:This is an extremely cheap (price) X-ring chain. I had it on my 2006 WR450f for 2+ years and totally neglected it. It finally broke on me leaving me waiting for my buddy to return with the truck about 30 miles from the staging area for a few hours. I can't blame the chain though since it lasted more than 2 years and barely ever had any maintenance.

Comments On Feb 16, 2012:This kit has the front & rear sprockets and chain. Does have the master link. You'll need a chain breaker if this is your first chain replacement. This last longer than the stock chain did.

Comments On Nov 21, 2011:I purchased this chain and sprockets for my YZ450F. Initially the chain appears to be very good quality. About two rides in the chain broke and not at the master link. The chain had been properly lubed and had the proper amount of slack. Luckily the chain did not damage the crank case. If you have a big motor do not purchases this chain. Spend the extra money.

Comments On Nov 14, 2011:This is a good chain. It does stretch though but the performance is good. It looks great and lasts a while even under Practice and Racing conditions. For the average rider just riding on the weekend its a great choice go with it will probably last a year for you. For the racer, still not bad, but will not last as long as the Renthal. I think they raised the price recently on this product too.

Comments On Oct 13, 2011:I have used these chains for years and they work great. Occasionally i will try a different brand but i always come back to this one. I put one on a month ago and it is holding up great after 450 miles. I adjusted it once after the initial run-in and it has been perfect since then.

Comments On Aug 18, 2011:I bought this chain in a kit with both sprockets. Figured a chain was a chain. Why spend the extra cash? Now I know why. Put it on this spring. Didn't do much riding until the end of June so it was like new. By the middle of August it was shot. I was oiling my chain and noticed a broken link. Upon further inspection I found two more broken links. Haven't had any trouble with the sprockets. I have a 2006 CRF450R. Maybe it would be fine on a smaller bike with less torque, but not on a 450.
Additional Comments On Sep 13, 2011:Update: I bought another chain locally and forgot about this chain. Never contacted R/M about it. A couple of weeks ago R/M called me and asked about the negative review. They gave me a gift card for the amount of the chain and sent me a shipping label to send the old chain back. Excellent customer service! That's why I continue to buy from R/M.

Comments On May 30, 2011:I have had this chain on my modded KTM 520 for 5 yrs now. I bought this chain knowing that I needed something beefy to deal with the power of my bike. This chain has seen everything from salt water to sand to mud and has held up better than I anticipated with minimal stretch. It is time now for a new chain and will purchase another Primary Drive.

Comments On May 08, 2011:Not too impressed with this chain. Installed on my '09 YZ250F along with new Primary Drive front & rear sprockets. The chain rubs slightly on the engine case behind the front sprocket and the masterlink catches on the rear chain guide every time it passes through. Seems like the chain is simply too wide. The gold-coloured coating wore off on the very first ride as well. Next time I'll go with a higher-quality chain, such as DID.

Comments On Mar 15, 2011:I put this chain on my 07 Honda CRF450R and it has been a great chain thus far. I did have a master link break when I removed it - but I think that was more my fault and I just put on another one. I am surprised to see that the gold is not flaking off the chain (which you kind of expect with no name brand chains)I only have about 4 rides on it so far - but I have to say the look and quality so far have been excellent. I have/would/will continue to buy these chains.

Comments On Oct 22, 2010:Great chain! It's been almost one full season and I haven't adjusted the chain but the smallest amount. These chains just don't stretch that much. Would definately buy again!

Comments On Oct 04, 2010:For a budget chain, this one works well. But if you have a higher horsepower ATV, this chain is prone to stretching. I need to adjust it after every other ride.

Comments On Sep 21, 2010:Great Piece of hardware! I have this on my 08 YZ450F. I have Four long track days on it so far. Its stretched about half of a mark the first day. NO STRETCH AT ALL AFTER THAT. The master link was pretty tough to get fitted but once you squeeze it down to crush the rings it is fine, no binding or problems. Will buy again. If I ever have too!

Comments On Jul 13, 2010:I am 52 years old. My Son and I both have CRF450's. I bought two of these chains for both bikes. My Son rode his twice and snapped his chain in multiple locations in one shot and it wasn't at the Master Link either. My chain lasted two more rides and snapped also and not at the Master Link! These chains can not withstand the power of the CRF450's. We got stranded twice because of them!

Comments On Jul 21, 2010:pretty good chain for most bikes/avg. rider, but as any 450 4-stroke owner that rides thier bike like a man knows that it has chain breaking power, broke mine (it was adjusted correctly) on the beach and had to push bike to truck in the sand.

Comments On Jun 28, 2010:I have purchased this chain 3 times now for our two KTM four strokes. The chain is durable enough although the gold finish on the links gets wiped off pretty quickly in the mud we ride in PA / WV.
My major dissatisfaction is with the master link that came with the most recent purchase in March of 2010. I got a master link with pins too short to take the side plate and clip. Called and complained, they sent me a replacement master link (free of charge) and the pins were the correct length, but then the holes in the side plate we too large to keep the plate on the pins while sliding the clip over the pins. I have a Motion Pro chain breaker / press so I have the right tools for the job.
BTW - a DID masterlink fit well although I didn't measure it to see if all the dimensions are the same.
I won't buy this chain again because we ride in areas where it would be a long, long tow out of the woods if we couldn't make an on the spot repair. I'll just buy RK or DID and get a chain I won't have to worry about the quality and workmanship on.
