    2009 R1200GS Adventure Seal Savers

I installed the Seal Savers on my 2009 R1200GS Adventure. They were an afterthought as I was changing the fork seals and wanted just a little more protection. I've used Seal Savers on other machines and like the product. Due to the close quarters under the 'beak" of the GS, it was a bit difficult but I got it done. This bike sees almost no off road riding and minimal gravel roads but for the small investment, I feel the additional protection is worth it.

  • Seal Savers Zip-On Fork Covers

    Garbage zipper.

Some may be able to change a fork seal quicker than trying to get the seal saver zipped-up onto the fork while fork guards are on. I spent about 20 minutes on one, before I put it to the side. May throw it back in the tool box for another year and try again later. Next time, they'll just go in the trash.

  • Seal Savers Fork Covers - Inverted Forks

Rated 4.00 out of five stars.★★★★☆

    Fork skin /protectors

full coverage fork skins do work nice to protect coatings ,plating on fork tubes & seal contamination , if you have WP suspension you will need to remove & leave off the plastic fork ring near the seal ,as the added thickness of the neoprene will come into contact with KTM/Husky fork guards and a hole will be worn into the seal savers in quick time . You do need to remove forks to install or to remove them . I prefer the full coverage ones as not to collect mud /silt as the shorter ones may do . Overall I get a new set about every 2 to 3 seasons of single-track riding, never has a seal failure or fork tube nicks & scratches from roost . Since they are not the easiest item to install (remove forks ) some may try to find ones with Velcro , but I prefer the sewn , more waterproof & simplistic design . sharp thorns & brush may be able to cut the neoprene ,hence the 4 star overall rating , but since inverted forks has the most delicate coatings so close to the ground & wheel ,I choose to use them on all my new bikes . machine washable too when you do suspension service , just need new zip ties & put the thick buckle area of the ties where you have the most clearance during full compression .
