Great price but head gasket failed

Comments On Mar 27, 2014:I rebuilt the top end on my 06 CRF450R. Saved some money on the top end gasket kit going with Tusk. However, after about 1 year of average desert trail riding and dunes, the bike started puffing white smoke and coolant kept mysteriously disappearing. Pulled the top end apart and discovered the head gasket failed, allowing coolant to flow directly from the water jacket into the cylinder. Just to save myself future headache, I will spend the extra cash on a different brand.

problem with tusk gasket

Comments On Apr 10, 2014:I am a huge fan of tusk parts but this was an epic fail. After about 15 hrs of ride time the head gasket failed and I got water in the engine. When I took it apart I found that the head gasket has a coating on it which had separated from the metal deteriated over time and failed under pressure from the cylinder. Buy oem or a higher grade gasket especially for the head. the honda oem gasket is excellent.

Head Gasket Blew in 2 hours.

Comments On Mar 27, 2014:I bought these gaskets for my 400ex and also my 85 atc 250r, I torqued them both to spec and both bikes blew head gaskets in less than 4 hours! not impressed.

blown head gasket

Comments On Apr 27, 2014:I have not had any problems with TUSK products and I have bought a lot of TUSK parts . Gaskets are all good except, both head gaskets leaked. I had heads cked by machine shop for warpage and i cked them. No need to be decked. Both head gaskets failed within hours. This won't be my last TUSK purchase but my last Tusk gasket set with head gaskets.

Spend the extra cash for a better gasket kit

Comments On Apr 28, 2014:I put this top end gasket kit in when i rebuilt my top end. I torqued my head to OEM specifications and when i filled it with antifreeze the gasket was wet. I figured that maybe it was maybe because i got assembly lube on it. i was wrong. the head gasket didn't seal. I wouldn't recommend this to my worse enemy. Spend the extra 25 bucks and buy a better gasket kit. You'll thank me when you don't have to tear your bike back apart

AS GOOD AS THE BEST AND BETTER THAN SOME

Comments On Apr 04, 2014:TYPICAL TUSK middle of the road parts. Gasket set is just as complete as quadboss kit. Quality is there as well. Price makes it excellent part for the money.
