Dirt Tricks testing has determined that the OEM dome washer is made of mildly heat treated material. When that component is installed under a tightened counter-shaft bolt, it is taken well beyond it’s "yield" or "elastic" limit and permanently deforms. In that condition in cannot maintain the thrust pressure necessary to keep the sprocket tight to the splined shaft. That leads to two different failures. First, as described above, the O-ring is allowed enough clearance that it begins seeping. Secondly, the backlash between the splined shaft and sprocket is allowed to more freely pound in each direction, as the torque of power verses compression reverses itself.
Dirt Tricks has developed a tool steel, heat-treated dome washer that develops two to three times the pre-load force without reaching it’s elastic limit and without over-stressing the mating components. This solves O-ring leakage as well as extending the life of both the counter-shaft and sprocket splines. A counter-shaft replacement alone, with labor costs in excess of $700.
If you plan to keep your KTM four-stroke for many seasons this product is well worth the investment.

Should outlast the bike.

Comments On Sep 10, 2014:These don't flatten out over time like the OEM ones so should last almost forever.

Stop the dreaded leak

Comments On Jan 18, 2014:If you're experiencing the dreaded countershaft seal leaking woes, here is the cure... 1. Buy the Enduro Engineering/All Balls Racing (they are made by the same manufacturer just packaged for either company) countershaft seal kit. This kit comes with 2 different thickness o-rings. Install the larger 0-ring, new collar and new dust seal. 2. Buy a new countershaft bolt, an OEM replacement with the loc-tite compound pre-applied. 3. Buy this Dirt Tricks dome washer. The OEM replacement will not hold its shape when applying the 100Nm torque that is required. When it deforms it will not apply even pressure to the sprocket and collar, thus allowing oil to seep by and creating the ACOS (automatic chain oiling system). 4. Make sure you orient the countershaft sprocket with the raised ridge facing inwards (to mate with the seal collar) and tighten your new bolt to the recommended torque specs. No more oil leak!!!

Excellent product as usual

Comments On Jan 13, 2014:Dirt tricks did it again. Not only a higher quality material, but it's a little larger diameter so it even worked with a sprocket that had a deep groove worn in it from the stock dome washer.

Great product

Comments On Dec 25, 2013:Any product that prolongs the life of your countershaft seal is great one in my book. Product is cheaper than a seal replacement.
