Best bang for the buck for mileage and traction!

Comments On Apr 03, 2014:I have 70,000 miles on my 1200GSA and another 100,000+ on 2 1150 GSAs. I ride very aggressively over multisurfaces. Texas chip seal roads really wear tires. I get the best mileage while still getting decent traction on a rear tire. I have used the Tourance to take my bikes to the top of Engineer Pass in Colorado as well as some nasty single track that my cylinders were hanging up! If you need better traction up front, try mixing KArooT with Tourance rear...nice match and still handles well on street!

Tourance Good in the slick mud

Comments On Jul 29, 2013:I put a set of the classic Metzler Tourances on my 07 Vstrom 1000 and rode to Prudhoe Bay from Washington State. The tires worked very well on the road and worked OK on the Dalton up to Prudhoe Bay. Lots of rain and slick mud and I never fell on my ass once. Not as good as more aggressive knobby tires off road but a good compromise when majority of riding is on pavement. If you can change to Knobbies in Fairbanks it would be ideal but I didn't.

Metzler Tourance on R1150GS

Comments On May 09, 2011:I love this tire for the BMW R1150GS. I always look at the other alternatives when it's time to replace another set, and I always go back to the Tourance. They get me where I want to go within reason, and I'm getting 12-15K out of a rear tire and 20k+ out of a front
