Road and gravel DL650

Comments On Aug 22, 2014:I have used these for local aggressive road riding and lots of steep logging roads, some practice stuff (jumping little logs, deep sand Etc) I'm not an experienced dirt rider. Much better off road traction then my Anakee 3's Really good with decreased air pressure off road (25 pounds or so). Anakee's better on road, but not as big a difference.as expected. Rear wears fast, down quite a bit after 4,000 miles, enough to need to change. The squared profile causes some instability with aggressive dive into turns on road- still 1000 left for gravel i'd guess Did a trip to Northern BC/Yukon - performance great for varied roads, off roads. Great price here so ordered a new rear today

TKC works well but wears fast.

Comments On Mar 31, 2014:I have been using TKC80s for several years on my BMWs, 1150s and 1200 GSs. They provide some of the best road handling of for the big ADV bikes with very respectable offroad manners. Works wat better than KEnda BigBlock or Metzler Karoo.

Great tires...

Comments On Nov 30, 2013:Love the TKC80. I run them on a Buell Ulysses and ride both fast on pavement and on rough fire roads and single track including mud. Yes, they do wear a little quickly, but if I am just a little conservative on the throttle, they do last. And there is not another tire that will allow me to climb a hill in the mud and keep up with a sport bike in the curves.

Unimpressed

Comments On Sep 20, 2013:I bought a used BMW Xchallenge and it had new TKC 80's on it. I'd heard they were supposed to be great tires. Well, my friends and I just returned from a wet Tour De Wyoming and I was very unimpressed with this tire. I'd been running Dunlap 606's on my 08 KLR and if I were to choose between the 2...the 606 would win in ever category...they last much longer and ride much better. The TKC is worn out after less then 2000 miles...thats probably because it spends most its time spinning out rather then hooking up. I struggled to keep up with my friends on KLR's running Kenda 270's. If you are an adventure rider that spends a lot of time on asphalt and enjoys a few gravel roads and replacing tires often, this tire may be just great for you, but if you really want to ride dirt, gravel, rocks, mud and the likes.......look elsewhere.
