just purchased a leatt-club kneck brace and pod/fox k700 pair of braces...front tire went flat and i didnt know it was flat till I landed front wheel 1st off of a step-up jump... crashed @ aprox. 25 mph. and landed head 1st right knee 2nd... leatt-club did its job well but the right knee cup dislocated 100% (as it probably was designed too) and the left top upper most quad strap snapped in half... i walked away done for the day with only a sprained left wrist(healed in 36hrs.) and a sore right shoulder (took 3 days to heal)... i bought the asterisks 1st and wore around the living room for an hour and felt like frankenstein @ the knees... I sent them back to r.mtn. atv/mc an got a refund toward the better pod k700s...only brace better would be rx. custom built cti's... but I have no insurance...next purchase = wrist braces by EVS...silver account level buyer... oh yeh the knee cup clicked rite back in and I had a local tailor sew the snapped/ripped strap for $6.42...

I've had these braces for almost a year. I previously rode with Asterisk braces for 4 years but wanted to try these. I use braces because I don't have an ACL anymore in my right knee. The Alpinestars have been a let down. In the first two rides, the tiny screws that hold the top strap to the brace backed out on both braces. The threaded portion is so small it's ridiculous. I used longer threaded screws to replace them and they've held in place. I had to do some grinding and taping to make it work. They migrate down your leg unlike Asterisk braces. The little snaps that hold the knee cap/patella piece in place won't stay snapped at all. Fortunately, the snaps are to big to pull through so the knee cap piece doesn't fall completely out. The padding behind the knee cap is pretty thin too. I've used the brace for skiing as well as dirt biking... Asterisk fit better and stayed place MUCH better as well as stayed together. The only thing these braces have going for them is their light weight. I don't recommend these braces. Additional Comments On Sep 20, 2011:After posting this review I received a phone call from Alpinestars. They wanted to look at my knee braces and replace the FOR FREE. They have have made small changes in the current braces. It was a pleasure to deal with them as a company. The screws that fell out have been addressed and the top and bottom straps are wider. They do have a very simple adjustment for the flexion stops. I like how simple it is to adjust the range of motion. Thank you Alpinestars for have continuously updating your product and for world class customer service.

These knee guards protect well in case of a fall. However, they are not knee braces and will not protecct your knee from lateral movement in a crash.. but if you fall onto your knees.. this will save your shins and knees from rocks, sticks and your bike. At this price, you cannot go wrong!

Quality is very good, but very bulky for men with average to large calfs. If you don't have boots with high adjustability, not going to fit inside. Comfortable during ride, but afterwards, you'll notice the back of your legs above knees are sore and chaffed.

provides more than enough protection and is very slim and contoured to the body, not bulky! Look good, feel good, ride good!
