  This is a great mask. The upper portion is a thin lycra moisture-wicking material, perfect for under the helmet. It is not obtrusive at all. The lower portion is a soft fleece. It isn't noted here but it is a dual-layered bottom portion, extra thick fleece, for that extra warmth. Even when not wearing a helmet it still is very good at keeping warmth in. I wore this under my helmet on a trail ride I went on the 2nd of January (sub 20 degrees where I was) and I guarantee I wouldn't have been able to last without it.

  This is a fine balaclava but it is meant to keep your head cool. It is not insulated. It is very thin.
