Excellent cases that are designed for the bike

I purchased the Yamaha cases for my Tenere and I am very happy with the quality and the fit. After a lot of research, I decided to go with these cases because I like the minimal frame work left on the bike when they aren't on, and because I like the way that they look when they are on. I would have given them a rating of 5, but I brought it down to a 4 because the mounts are a bit difficult to put on. Like others have stated, the instructions aren't the best, but not horrible. Just take your time to look over all of the bolts and make sure you have the correct one. The most frustrating part for me was that one bolt that holds the mount and handle on is a Torx style security bolt. I did not realize this until I almost had the entire thing on. You will need a Torx security style bit (a TT50 to be exact) to tighten this bolt. You will also need a Torx security bit size TT10 to install the locks. It does not tell you that you need these in the instructions, so just get them in advance. I went to Lowes and they had both for about $8.00. Not a huge deal, just kinda a pain. Other than that, they are awesome, and of course Rocky Mountain got them to me in 2 days like they always, which is why I keep coming back.

  • Yamaha Tank Bag

    Yamaha Tank Bag

Like A Sports Car with Worn Tires

Purchased and returned. In my opinion, the build quality, looks, space, functionality and size of this bag are excellent, especially if you prefer a large tank bag. However, the bag only has two strap fixing points and one magnet (all lined up in the center) which gave it a lot of lateral play when mounted. Without some kind of lateral support, I did not think the bag would be very stable on the bike, particularly off road.

  • Yamaha Skid Plate

    Yamaha Skid Plate

    Decent for fire roads

I did lots of reading and looking before I decided upon this system as I liked the extra ventilation it offered as the Tenere seems to run hot on fireroads. It offers ok coverage and protects the oil cooler and filter from rocks thrown from the tire. It would be ok as an actual skid plate although make no mistake it is not a bash plate. It is fairly flimsy so again, understand this is for protection from thrown rocks only. With some small modifications I will make a more durable front mounting system as well as protection for my headers and engine cover. For the price I feel it is accurate.

  • Yamaha Side Wind Deflectors

    Yamaha Side Wind Deflectors

    Must Have

These wind deflectors are a must buy when dressing out your Tenere. It took longer to open the box and wrapping than the install. Well it was close anyway. My only gripe is the plastic screws it came with. Cheap and has a weird philips head pattern. But very secure and stripped. They added 10-15 MPH before buffeting occurs. So running at 70MPH I started to get buffeting with my dual sport helmet with a beak. I'm 5'11" 30" inseam, Wind shield in high position.
