Soaked them in warm water as the manual suggests, but it was still a hassle to get them over the forks. I went on three rides in the desert since I have them on and not much dust got underneath them. I fell this could extend the lifetime of my seals. You have to take the forks out of the tripple clamps in order to get the seal guards on.Read All Reviews

I didn't have a wrench, nor a socket that size, so I got this one in order to service my forks. Fits good and is long enough to give a nice lever. On top of that, it has a little slot to hold the inner cartridge damping rod, which you definetly need a tool for. Other than that you can use it to hit yourself when see four little preload spacer rings on your workbench AFTER you put everything back together...Read All Reviews

Yes, it's a five six dollar piece of plastic that probably only cost a few cents producing it, but it is still worth the money. Imagine putting your dust and - more importantly - oil seal on without the bullet and pinching or scratching the seal. With everything put back together on the bike you come back from your test ride with leaking forks, just because you wanted to safe five dollas. Here's the wrong place to be stingy!
