Excellent kickstand but doesn't fit the 2012 250sx

Comments On Jul 25, 2015:The Trailtech kickstand will not fit on the 2012 Ktm 250sx, even though they list it as fitting. I spoke with them directly when I couldn't figure out why I was having mounting problems. Apparently Ktm made some minor frame changes that weren't reported. Trailtech is now aware of the fitment issue. The alignment is off by 3 or 4 mm and can't be made to fit without machining modifications. There is the other aluminum brand kickstand that fits, but I've had durability issues with them.

costly loss

Comments On Jun 13, 2015:After only a few rides I had the stand fall off and its gone somewhere on the trail... If I bought another one I would wire tie the stand to the bike so next time I won't lose it... But I found one that will not do what this one has done.

Older KTM bikes...

Comments On May 15, 2015:If you have an older KTM (2000-2004 I think) then you have to remove that the stock kickstand bracket / chain guide (2 bolts). I read a past review where he complained about the stand sticking out and that is the reason (I made the same mistake at first).
I just installed it, so I can't give a good review yet. It mounts easy (if you do it right) and seems sturdy. It does stand the bike up a little too straight, but it works.

Wrong bolts - Broke after 1 year of little use

Comments On Jul 01, 2014:Only reason it gets an average review is that it came with the wrong bolts. They send you longer bolts to replace the existing ones on the frame but the bolts they sent were wrong. I had to go and find some bolts that would work. Aside from that the stand is very sturdy. I can stand on the pegs and kick on the bike as hard as I want without worrying the stand is going to give way.

Additional Comments On May 11, 2015:Came with the wrong bolts. Pivot bolt was ok but the other frame bolt was too short. Had to make a run to the hardware store to get one. I only rode the bike a few times over the year and went to work on the bike today and it fell over in my garage. The part where the pivot bolt holds the kick stand to the bike sheared off. For some reason that little part of the kickstand is threaded. If they would have just made the kickstand one solid piece I would still have a working kickstand.

aluminum collar separation at pivot

Comments On Mar 27, 2015:Worked fine for about 2 years, then separated at the pivot. Not on trail. Just moving bike around in garage. The aluminum collar inside the pivot that is pinned to stand separated. Why is it pinned and not welded? Poor design, look elsewhere.

Perfect addition for my bike

Comments On Mar 10, 2015:This kickstand works great. The last couple rides I had to shut off the gas and lay my bike on its side to help when my dad crashed or when my son needed help - no more. The only reason I'm not giving this kickstand a 5 start rating is because I did have to slightly drill out the hole for the footpeg, and because I think it is overpriced by about $40.

Great Product

Comments On Feb 28, 2015:Installs easily. Lighter than other kickstands on the market. Works great. Would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting to add a kickstand to an MX bike.

much stronger

Comments On Feb 23, 2015:Bolted right up. Is much stronger than the stock one. I like that it connects it two places.

Great product, small fitment issue.

Comments On Dec 23, 2014:The trail tech kick stand has function well on my 2004 KX250 and with very few options available for MX bikes I canĂ¢??t complain; however, I did have some difficulties with it. Pros; great materials, compact and easy to use, easy to install Cons; was not a perfect fit, it rubbed on the swing arm and within 3 rides did a fair amount of damage to the arm and the kick stand. Both are still operational; however, a small design tweak could fix the issue. My solution was to limit the kick stand from going up all the way, I put a half inch stopper in and this stopped the rub and the stand still goes up enough to be out of the way.

Excellent

Comments On Dec 10, 2014:Like the look of the kickstand. Mounting bracket seems pretty sturdy. The arm looks a little light and flimsy. I've went on four rides and all ok so far.
