This is how the factory riders start!
The factory start is mounted directly on the fork. Before the start, the fork is dipped and fixed in the desired position to shift the center of gravity forwards. This to a large extent prevents the front wheel from lifting at the start, thus providing greater traction and perhaps securing you the odd holeshot or two. The first time the fork dips, the fixing is slackened and the fork released automatically.
    • Helps keep center of gravity forward.
    • Keeps front wheel down during starts for better traction.
    • Releases automatically when fork is compressed the first time.

Looks great, but not what I expected
I have used launch control fork locking devices for several years now and am a fan of them and what they do for starting especially if you are short in height, I'm 5'6" and it really helps.

My engineering gripe with this system is it's design features. While this deceive is made nicely and has two great design features, the clam-shell fork clamp and the dual locking height option, it fall short on several functional issues :

    - It is heavy compared to the Works connection design
    - It's a lot harder to install due to the large size hole you need to create in the fork guard, 24.5 mm DIA so you need to grind or file the hole to this size unless you have a drill that size, almost 1" in DIA.
    - The band clamp is great in that you can install and remove it without removing the fork tube, but it does not fit the step height on the fork tube and is too tall which creates a cavity to collect dirt and crap.
    - Also the retention slot for the locking pin to lock in is facing up with a blind pocket to, again, collect dirt so now you cannot get the pin to lock in when it is full of dirt.
    - The actuation lever is very short and a bit hard to get a hold of to lock if you are short and leaning over your front end while traveling and hitting the front brake to sag the forks to lock it
    - No tools or template and weak directions for installation... it's not rocket science, but making it easy to install sure helps like the WC kit has

So several design features make this fork lock less functional than the Works Connection design, which I'll be changing back to next time.

    Holeshots 5 in a row
I race hare scrambles so it's always a dead engine start. Call it a coincidence or whatever you want but, after a 3 year dry spell of not getting a single holeshot I've ripped off 5 in a row after installing this device in the spring. Only wish would be that there was an easy way to put the required chamfer on the back side of the mounting holes.
