acerbis skid plate

Comments On Apr 08, 2016:Tough plastic, looks pretty durable.
Bolt was not long enough to engage threads on bracket.
I needed to drill a hole in skid plate for my finger to reach through and stabilize bracket to get bolt started.
Bolt head sticks down (not recessed) and might catch on rocks and logs.
This skid plate does not completely cover the oil filter cover on the left side of engine like the stock guard does(13 crf450r).
I hope acerbis upgrades this a little. It has great potential.

Very strong full protection skid plate

Comments On Apr 02, 2016:I ride hare scramble / enduro. For the money you cannot beat this plate. My has taken quite a few hits (log hops / rocks / etc..) and there are no cracks, no broken parts on the bike. The plate for my 150XC has only a single bolt, so it's very fast to unmount/mount. Takes a bit of finesse to line up in order to mount, but once you do it a few times it's no big deal. Unless you're riding in conditions like "Erzberg", this plate will take a tremendous beating. Lots of scratches / gouges / marks from taking hits (Logs / Rocks). And have 0% damage to my bike. So for the money, I'm extremely satisfied.

Great Quality & Fit - Annoying Mounting

Comments On Mar 29, 2016:Quality thick plastic and great fit to the bike. The bottom mounting brackets are a serious pain to install. I was only able to get one side installed and that will hold it fine. It pushes up right against the oil strainer drain plug and barely fits with lots of pushing and juggling. Once installed it's solid, but oil changes will suck to remove/remount. For the price it evens out the pain a bit.

Good enough

Comments On Mar 24, 2016:Best bang for your buck, skid plates get pricey quick. I like the plastic or carbon fiber ones a little more because they are quiet. I did not think of it when I bought it, but it does not cover the linkage like some newer (more expensive) models do. Works good enough until I bash my linkage..

Good Skid Plate

Comments On Mar 22, 2016:I am rather pleased with this skid plate. As always Acerbis made another good quality plastic product. Its made of good thick plastic and appears to be rather durable. The only complaint I have for it was that it was a bugger to get it on. The fit caused me to have to bend the plate a good 4" Just to get the top bolt on.

Tough

Comments On Mar 02, 2016:It's been on my bike for at least 3 yrs and still holding up. Much lighter and less vibration than aluminum skid plates.

Excellent Fit!

Comments On Feb 22, 2016:Fit and finish was excellent. Removed the OEM water pump and engine gaurds from my 2014 RM-Z250 and installed this skid with the factory hardware. The back of the plate securely slides into the frame to lock it in place and didn't require any other mounting brackets or clamps to mount which may rattle loose. The inside of the skid even has dimples for guides if you choose to drill holes in it for extra air flow to the engine cases. Very happy with it so far!

Great lightweight alternative for a good price.

Comments On Feb 17, 2016:I'm very pleased with this skid plate due to it's weight, how rugged it's been and the price. The plastic has held up well on trail rides, standard scrapes and slices, but no cracks, and is doing it's job. The fit was perfect, I mean no issues what so ever, line it up with the holes and bolt it on.
I give it 5 stars because of it's overall serviceability, the weight and price. I'm sure there are other skid plates way cooler, CF, etc, but then they cost way more too.
