Great Hand Guards
I was looking to get a set of handguards and a set of turn signals for my dual sport and i came across these. They where cheaper than other brands and included the turn signals. They were installed in just a few minutes and have been awesome ever since. No hard crashes with them yet but they are holding up great!!

Great bar, cheap plastic, buy separate
The bars are great and with a little cussing and doing they mounted to my KLR very nicely. The plastic covers are ok at best. The fit and finish off the turn signal leaves a lot to be desired. I upgraded to the newer version of the shield and am very happy with it.

To install the bars on the KLR you will need to re route the choke cable out of the metal loop on the bar. This will allow room for the clamp. They will mount level, with the bar slightly above the levers. I also tilted my clutch lever down a little to clear the mount. I went to the hardware store and picked up some 2" counter sunk screws that matched the threads on the bar end instead of drilling out the plug.

I would recommend buying this bar sperate and the newer version of the plastics without the turn indicator, but not this kit.

Great product
Great protection and extra visibility. The wiring seems like it will be the weak point but still working awesome after 2 seasons.

These are amazing...
I love these. Installed these on my KLR and got rid of the god awful stock front turn signals. Turn signals are bright and were super easy to wire. I have gotten multiple complements on them.

AND they are extremely cheap!

These hand guards are great for the price and made it nice to eliminate the original blinkers on my bike. I've crashed several times with these guards and my levers and grips have been saved. Haven't had any issues with the blinkers.

Great product
Look great very modern addition to an old bike, but like many old bikes if using LED other accessories may be required other than just the LED relay. The LED relay allowed them to flash but all 4 at once, I had to remove the turn signals indicator lamp in dash to allow them to operate separately. Proper fix is purchasing a diode kit specifically made for this. New bikes not a problem

2008 DL650 VStrom
I bought this for my DL650, and installed it at the same time I installed new braided-steel brake lines. Had I left the factory lines on, I think the install would have been seamless, but with the aftermarket double-banjo bolt coming from the master cylinder, it require cutting the levers slightly (just the ball on the end), and some real shenanigans to get everything lined up well.

I've been eyeing Barkbusters for quite some time, but at a fraction of the cost these Tusk guards come complete with integrated LED turn signals - what's not to like about that?

As mentioned, fitting these was a challenge, but again I have a custom setup, so it's not surprising. The LED signals terminate in bullet connectors - they are plenty long and reach to the VStrom's front signals without a problem, but they're definitely not plug and play. I'll be building some sort of connector harness for them here shortly.

NOTE: since they're brand new, I didn't rate durability or protection, although they seem to be well-constructed and designed.

Overall, I think these will add great protection to my VStrom, and at a great price.

busting bark
Installed with turn signal lights. Matched up to bars well. I have now tree and rock tested them and other than the expected scuffs performed flawlessly. Very pleased.

Would it be possible to wire the lights so that they're on all the time steady if I'm not using the turn signals? So, if no turn signal on, both on steady; if left turn signal on, left blinking and right steady; vice versa for right signal; if hazard signal on, both blinking. Would that be do-able, and if so, how? 2011 Suzuki V-Strom DL650A.
Robert S on Oct 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The turn signal LED contained in the Tusk gandguards could be made to glow steady Or connected to your turn signal flasher they will illuminate when the appropriate turn signal is switched on. Out of the box the LED will not perform both steady lighting and turn signal flasher. To do so would require a special electronic controller.
How does this connect to the existing wiring harness? I'm thinking of installing on an '08 DL650 - do I need anything else to connect it?
A shopper on Dec 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You will need to find the wiring that runs the blinkers. On my bike I ran the wires back to under the seat. I removed the gas tank and seat to do a pro install. I did cut open the wires for the blinkers and tied the tusk wiring into the factory wiring harness. I used heat shrink and soldered the wires to make it a professional waterproof installation. You can easily just just use wire connectors from a local store to speed the install up. This task took about an hour after install of the hand guards. You may need some extra zip ties when installing depending on how you route the wires. I did go down two times this summer onto the hand guards when traveling out west on my 40 day trip. One time was hitting a deer South of Polebridge, MT on the gravel road and the other was a slow motion tip over climbing a mountain trail over rocky conditions. The guards did their job and held up. These add a cheap additional level of protection for visibility. You will be happy with them once installed.
Does it come with both left and right handgaurds?
A shopper on Mar 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does, it is a complete handguard setup with indicators. I have had mine for 2 years now without any problems, it has taken a few crashes & everthing still works.
How does this tie into the existing wiring harness? I'm thinking of installing on an '08 DL650--will I need anything special to connect the turn signals?
A shopper on Dec 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi there. I bought them for previous bike and never bothered to hook up the lights. However, it looked like a very simple job. Each handguard turn signal had a simple pair of wires and I had planned to simply tap into the wiring going to each turn signal. As it turns out, I sold that bike before I did the job ... and now own a 2008 V-strom 650! I think on the 650 I would just tap into the turn signal wiring.
Have fun with your bike.
I just want to verify that these are the complete kit with hardware for a 2 point connection on each side of the bars, not the flag setup?
greg s on Nov 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: yes that is correct.
Which product would be best for my 2011 Suzuki V-Strom DL650? This one? Or either of:

Tusk MX D-Flex MC Handguards with Turn Signals Black - Part# 1285740001 or

Tusk MX D-Flex ATV Handguards with Turn Signals Black - Part# 1285730001?

BEST ANSWER: It would depend on what you were looking for exactly. The main difference between the D-Flex and MX D-Flex is that the D-Flex is a wrap around guard with an aluminum bar to help with more protection. The MX D-Flex are a "Flag Style" guard. They both work excellent. I would also recommend checking into the D-Flex Pro handguards with turn signals. They have larger shields and provide more protection against wind and debris.
Does these work on 1 1/8 bars Husqvarna fe501 2017?
A shopper on Mar 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I am not sure, you need to buy the big bar adaptor kit. I had to machine a little bit off these but they now fit my KTM500 and ate great!
Do these come in white?
A shopper on Jan 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I looked into this and unfortunately we only carry this in black. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
