Details

Don’t waste time weighing the pros and cons of sealed vs traditional drive chains. Put DID’s 520VX2 Gold X-ring Chain on your bike and get the benefits of both.

The VX2 makes everyone happy thanks to the X-ring design. This unique type of sealing ring gives great sealing and lubricity, but lets the chain move as freely as if it were a non-sealed chain. No more lost power, no more sticky, kinked links. The VX2 is so smooth, DID says it trims off about half the friction of traditional o-ring chains. Pair the X-ring with the gold surface treatment that looks good and prevents corrosion, and you’ve hit the drive chain motherlode.

    Specs:
  • Sealed X-ring design
  • Reduced power loss from friction
  • Half the friction of competing O-ring chains
  • Corrosion resistant gold-tinted surface treatment
  • Quicker response and smooth handling
  • DID’s unique X-ring type sealing ring
  • 8,210 pound tensile strength
  • Max 750cc displacement recommendation

Toughest Chain I've Tried
I've used various O-ring chains over the last few decades. This is the only one I've tried that can handle about 6 hours of racing before the first adjustment.
Not sure why it is specified as a "road" chain. Works great in the dirt and mud on a CR250.

Replacement Master Links purchased
I have the VX2 Chain and it functions great. One of the lightest weight O-Ring type chains out there. I bought the replacement masterlink because I am changing my rear sprocket. The masterlink installed without issue.

DID 520VX2 Gold x ring road chain
Excellent, light and durable chain. It felt like I added more HP over my heavy stock chain due to the lower rotating weight. Does not stretch much as long as you keep it in spec. Must have ultra hard rivets because it was difficult to rivet the master link. My road bike doesn't have much HP so it needs all the help it can get.

Did this chain include a master link? If so, was it a rivet or clip style?
James G on Dec 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It includes a conventional master link (Matching gold color), no riveting required. It is plenty strong and I have not had any "reliability" issues with the master link and probably have 2,500+ off-road miles on this chain.
This says it is a road chain, can I use it on my dirt bike?
Jason P on Nov 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You sure can as long you are replacing a 520 chain with the same size. I have used on a KTM 350 EXC, Husky FE350 and a KTM 300 XC with no issues at all. Chain works great with very minimal stretch, only had to adjust one time unless making sprocket size changes.
If just ordering replacement master link clip style does it include lube and x-rings?
Paul H on Apr 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes it des come with O-rings and a small packet of lube. Note: You will need to press the side plate on, a pair of channel lock pliers and a small bushing will work if you do not have the proper tool.
should a o-ring chain be lubed as much as a non-o-ring chain? My chain seems to be stiff already and I really don't have that many miles on it. I don't put much stress on my drive-train much. I normally use chainwax after each wash or before each ride.
A shopper on Jan 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I lube my chain after every ride, coat it and the sprockets well. Oil it well, let it dry a couple hours then wash the bike. This keeps water OUT of the chain.
Do not use a pressure washer or a direct steam of water on the chain. This may push water past the Orings.
I don't like chain wax, it builds up on the chain and doesn't lube well. I like "Liquid Performance" or " Pro Honda" chain lube for their lubricating properties. They also don't fling off or attract dust.
I now have over 250 hours on this chain and it shows very little wear. Last one held up for over 400 hours.
My last Ironman rear sprocket had over 20,000 miles on it. Another reason I lube my chain and sprocket teeth.
