With the Falco Avantour Adventure Motorcycle Boot, you’re looking at a waterproof adventure boot that’s geared more towards on-road adventure touring, but with more than enough quality to last through light off-road/fire road riding. And at a sub 300 dollar price, the Avantour also represents a great amount of value.

The Avantour starts with an attractive look that’s right what you would expect from a modern adventure boot. Full grain leather covers the majority of the boot with accordion movement panels at the front and rear of the ankle. Falco opts for a sleek two buckle design with velcro flap in order to cut down on bulk, but TPU paneling on the toe box, shin, and heel cup still ensure a secure feel and good amount of protection.

Going deeper shows the Avantour’s best features. The sole is a traditional stitched style with a Goodyear welded sole. On the medial side, an Eso-Motion 2 hinge covers your ankle for lateral support that preserves range of motion, but the hinge is also backed by D3O armored ankle cups on both sides for excellent protection and comfort.

Moisture wicking materials make up the interior of the boot, taking moist air and moving it out through the waterproof High-Tex membrane. And with the membrane extending up to the velcro closure, the Avantours are an ideal choice for an under-the-pant boot that handles long-distance touring and on-road adventure riding.

    Specs:
  • Full-grain leather treated upper aids waterproofing and provides great appearance
  • High-Tex waterproof membrane extends up to velcro closure flap
  • PU molded shin plate and Eso-Motion 2 rear articulation system limit lateral torsion but maintain ankle’s range of motion
  • D3O backed ankle cups provide both comfort and impact support
  • Black alu-buckles and Velcro closure secure your foot and give a low-profile form
  • Goodyear welded enduro sole has enduro type lugs for traction on and off the bike
  • CE certified.
  • Ideal for adventure motorcycling and light duty off-roading

Quality Boot
Replaced a pair of Sidi ADV Rain boots with the Falco Boots and have not been dissappointed. Very satisfied with waterproofing, after a few water crossings nothing was allowed into the boots. They do squeak when walking, just like the Sidi boots ive had, but thats the only complaint I have. The Vibram sole is great, hard to detect any wear on the sole at all yet, and they feel great standing on pegs and give good traction walking on questionable surfaces. The material under the lower ratchet clamps will probably wear faster than other areas but nothing is coming apart after a full season of use, they look to be good for many more summers.

Beware of sizing
Sought out these boots and ordered them after much deliberation between another pair that is known for being super comfy and hike-able, but with less protection, and boots with more protection, but less comfort and "hike-ability". I wear a size 10.5 US, 44 in Euro. The size 11 offered here from RMATV is a euro 45, the size 10 is euro 43. After calling RMATV I was advised to order a size 11. Well, the size 11 does not fit well at all, the articulation point in the front of the ankle has excessive bunching on the inside of the boot when bending forward. When I lift my foot, the heel slips up from the insole and I can feel my ankle slip past the achilles supports. I know a size 10 or Euro 43 would be way too small.

Size 44 is not available from RMATV. It would be perfect for a 10.5 US. I know that they are available, all the Euro stores have them. It boggles my mind that they are not available here, with 10.5 being the most common foot size and the adventure market being the largest growing segment of motorcycling.

I deliberated on this purchase for a long time and was looking forward to having the perfect boot which is not offered here due to sizing. Hopefully my problem can save someone else this issue. The build and quality of these boots seems fantastic. I just wish they fit.

Comfy boot with good movement & protection
The boots were comfy out of the box and have only been getting better in the few months I've had them! Have had a few days where I've comfortably worn them on rides and then around the house & garage while working on the bike for long hours. They are a robust boot but way more flexible than a full-on moto boot. I think the best part is that the hinged-ankle design has good stiffness side-to-side while allowing a lot more flexibility for shifting and hitting the rear brake. On my first ride in them off-road I hit a hidden tree stump in some grass on the inside of the boot. The impact was directly at the inside hinge and was enough to pull my foot off the peg. The hinge took the hit like a champ and even broke part of the stump off without breaking apart! The shin armor is low-profile enough to fit under loose jeans if desired. They have been pretty warm for riding in hot & humid mid-atlantic temps but I much prefer that for the water and winter protection they offer. I usually wear a size 10.5 in most casual shoes, sometimes 11's. Bought the 45's and they fit well-a little room left for thick socks if needed.

First spin in the boots and I hit a hidden tree stump! The hinged ankle guard won the fight.

Falco Avantour Boots
First a disclaimer - these are my first adventure boots so my ratings are with a bit of a grain of salt... But I did a decent amount of due diligence before I pulled the trigger on them.

I was looking for boots that I could wear both commuting around and as I got into basic adventure riding. These offer more laterally support and protection than many of the competitors - but not as much as something with say a carbon fiber skeleton. On the other hand I can walk into restaurants with a normal gait and they didn't have the carbon fiber skeleton price associated either.

These are easy to get in and out of (important to me as I might be somewhat claustrophobic about that stuff) . My first several rides have all been 85 degree plus sunny SoCal days and I haven't cooked my feet so far.

I worked with shifter and brake setup a bit on my first few rides - then reset to the original settings using a bit more dive under the shifter on upshifts.

I would recommend these boots for riders looking for a balance of protection, weight (not super heavy compared to some I tried on) and price.

Rocky Mountain ATV/MC's shipping was quick and I was kept in the loop with every step which was a good feeling.

Thanks.

Great looking boot with good mobility
I was looking for a boot that could do street, some adventure, and light off road riding and so far this boot has not let me down. Once broken in they offer good mobility for walking and shifting. Taking them on and off is very quick and simple, which is good because they dont seem to have any venting for breathability. They definitely feel fairly protective for the amount of mobility they offer. However, I have not had any true tests of that yet.
They also look awesome. I am very happy with this purchase

Hot Feet
My feet get sweaty in these, but I think that would happen in any boot that provides protection on this scale.

Falco Avantour Boots
Seem to be well built and pretty comfortable.

I'd say they're average to a wider foot bed and plenty of room for larger calves.

Keep the feet pretty warm, have only been out on cool - not cold days. My feet were very warm but not uncomfortable.

There isn't a lot of ventilation, but my feed didn't feel moist or clammy after a few hours either.

Soles are fairly stiff. Comfortable to stand on the pegs, only a slight bit of stormtrooper/ski boot feel. I'm sure I have some breaking in still to do on these.

Great All Around Boot...
I bought these boots as a supplement to my motocross boots. I wanted something for woods riding without the weight and bulk of the full motocrossers. These Falcos are great, and I love that I can modulate my ankle in them and shift and brake easily. Shifter and brake feel are great. They're probably not the best choice for woods riding as I've already punctured them with my footpeg (ripped a hole clean through the side of the boot). Protection is decent but leaves me wishing I had a little more hard plastic on them. All in a all a great adventure boot but maybe not the best choice for hardcore woods/dirt riding.

Just Right
I narrowed my new boot choice to 3. This Falco Avantour, Forma Terra and Forma Adventure. Since I live near RM ATV, I can try them on and I quickly passed on the Forma Adventure as too lightweight, too much like what I was replacing. They seemed comfortable but with too much flex. The Falco Terra was too big, tall and heavy for me. While there may be some flex in the sole, it's not much. I couldn't get baggy jeans over the tops, and they fit tightest at the toes of all 3. The Terra is too much like a MX boot for me. I could see them being perfect for a bigger, stronger guy than me. The Falco Avantour was the perfect compromise. They were roomier in the toes, shorter by about 3" and my jeans fit over them. They hold my knee braces up well. They only have 2 buckles, which are easy to adjust, with lots of velcro at the top. The waterproofing looks well designed but I have only tested it crossing creeks and puddles. The sole is stiff enough to stand up on pegs easily, but flexes moderately for walking and pushing. I think the 2 buckle design lets them flex more too. The only issue has been a slight pinch where the lower buckle protector is attached to the outside of the foot area. It may go away, but I do have a lot of miles and hours on them. Their protection seems excellent and I can still fit the toe under the shifter, even if I do miss a shift sometimes. They have saved me already when the footpeg smashed my toe area on a slide-out. I wish I had them 4 months ago when I sprained my ankle 75 miles out in the desert. I wouldn't be limping. They feel great and seem very well made. The perfect choice for me.

are these the 2017 model with the Vibram soles?
Harrison W on May 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I picked up a pair of these in November. They have the Vibram soles. Holding up great. I'm on the pegs a lot and there's not a mark on them.
Do the Falco Avantour boots have a “Vibrum” sole?
Bill L on Dec 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi Bill, yes, the current line of Falco Avantour boots have a Vibrum sole. However, the new Falco Avantour EVO which will be available next year do not.
How much taller do these boots make you? I'm looking at some tall dual sport bikes and I'm only 5'10"
A shopper on Apr 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 1 inch. All the best riders that race are usually shorter than you, so being small is actually a benefit. You'll get used to the height of your bike. Have a friend who's 5 foot 1 inch. She tips her CR 125 way over and rides the wheels underneath her to start, but she Crazy.
My feet get hot and sweaty in these boots in Montana. I'd buy Alpinestar Toucan's if I could do it over. Do not go cheap on boots ! ! !
I wear a US size 11.5, EU 46 in casual shoes/work boots and Alpinestars moto size 11. Is the Falco size 11 the best choice ?
GREG F on Oct 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I wear EU 43 and US 9.5 - 10 in casual shoes. I ordered a 10 and they fit me as expected (not too big but enough room for large socks, 1 size down would be too tight). I'd have to check when I'm near my boots but I believe the boots are EU in sizes so my 10's are actually EU 43.

If you are looking for EU 46, I'd guess thats a 12

Hope someone gives you a better answer.
If the boots are off, Rocky Mountain ATV&MC seems to be pretty good about exchanges.
I wear a 43 in Alpinestars tech2&3 will the 9/43 fit me in the Falco Avantour?
A shopper on Feb 25, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Falco boot sizes convert to 7.5, 8.5, 9.5 American etc. When I ordered I was expecting a size 8 but got an 8.5. I am a size 7.5. I'm keeping them anyway because they are the best bang for the buck out there and now there's room for extra socks. Haven't rode with them yet, it's winter here. Also planning on short hikes with them during rides.
What type of toe protection do these provide?
Christopher D on May 31, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I can't feel anything in the toe area like a steel cup, but I don't know how many dual-sport boots have one. The toe area is very sturdy and has a shifter protector on both boots and a scuff guard on the outside of the toe area on both. This covers much of the toe area with an extra layer. The leather is very stiff and it saved my toes when my steel foot-peg smashed down hard. I give them a thumbs up for toe protection.
I have to wear wide width, does this boot run wide?
A shopper on Jun 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: They are a little wider than some others on the market. The best way to confirm is to order them and return them if they are not wide enough. Thanks!
I'm interested in this boot, but am curious about the High-Tex waterproofing. I have searched the internet for information on the High-Tex technology and haven't found anything. Can you give some info on how it performs and how the technology works? Also wondering how the High-Tex performs compared to Gore-Tex. Thanks for your help!
Harrison W on Mar 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: High-Tex is very very similar to the Gore-Tex brand of waterproofing, with the difference being the name. They work the same way.
RM ATV-MC Please post a size chart for the boots from Falco!! Its tough to shop and make a confident purchase decision without some basic info. These boots look great and are priced well. Any guidance on which available size equals a 44 euro?
Daniel K on Dec 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The size 10 Falco boot is a Euro size 44.
I wear 13 wide. If the max size listed is 13 and they don't fit me because they are to small , will I get my money back? Or can I place the money towards the SIDI adventure boot with a max size listed of 15.
A shopper on Nov 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You can do either. We will accept both ways as long as the original pair of boots are in good condition still.
anyone who wears 10.5 shoes, what size did you get?
A shopper on Nov 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They fit true to size. So I would go with a size 11. If it doesn't fit however, we have the apparel Fit Guarantee so you can exchange them for a different size if you'd like.
