Details

When it comes to getting an entry-level motocross boot that samples top-tier features at a very manageable price point, Alpinestars’ Tech 1 Boot is a relatively new option that’s miles ahead of the competition. Big call outs start with the buckle system that’s been upgraded from the old-style buckles previously on the Tech 3, to the self-aligning and self-cleaning buckles AStars has previously only put on their Tech 7 and 10 boots.

The next big advancement is the blade system on the medial side of the boot that helps support your ankle and prevent hyperextension related injuries. This blade acts similarly to the hinge system typically found on much higher-priced boots, but this blade is so low-profile that it won’t negatively affect your interface with the bike. Pair these large features with the less-noticeable updates like the scheme of protective TPU, updated synthetic materials, and interior comfort layout, and it’s obvious that Alpinestars got ahead of the competition and is taking their entry-level boots very seriously.
  • For the same boot with an all-terrain sole more suited to enduro and trail riding, look at the Tech 1 AT Boots.

    Construction
  • Multi-material upper constructed from lightweight, abrasion resistant and durable microfiber and incorporating hard anatomically profiled copolymer protection.
  • Bio-mechanical medial ‘flexi-blade’ system provides excellent front and rear movement while offering support and protection to the ankle.
  • Newly design microfiber front and rear flex inserts for control and movement.

    Protection
  • Contoured co-injected polymer shin and calf protection connects on the lateral side to provide excellent all-round protection.
  • Comprehensive boot support and protection provided by core polymer protection in the lateral, medial, heel counter and toe box for excellent impact performance.
  • Innovative one-piece TPU injected insole reinforced with metal shank and co-injected toe reinforcement.
  • Stamped Steel toe guard for protection and durability.

    Key Features
  • Medial-facing texture patterning provides improved grip on bike.
  • Ergonomic quick-release buckle closure system forms secure and tight fit around lower leg.
  • Newly developed polymer and nylon buckle closures are ratchet self-aligning with memory ensuring a quick, precise and convenient closure. All buckles are replaceable.
  • Integrated soft foam padding surrounding the ankles and collar for comfort and fit.
  • Full technical textile lining for comfort and moisture wicking.
  • Replaceable EVA footbed features textile lining for comfort.
  • Upper Velcro® closure provides adaptable fit for wide range of leg sizes.
  • PU gaiter seals out excessive dirt entry. Rear gaiter includes rubber insert for flexibility and comfort.

They're alright
They're ok. Don't take much abuse. Didn't take my 450s kickstarter long to introduce itself to the bottom of my foot.

Well built boot for the money.
Well built boot. Not the same as the Alpinestars made in Italy, but should hold up well. I wear a size 17 and these boots offer plenty of room. Have not ridden with them yet. I have been wearing them around the house to break in.

Fantastic entry level boot. Value!!
Great boot for the price. If you are in market for affordable boot with some higher end features, alpine star is a good place to start. Had some boots that weren’t much less expensive before, but much lower quality. Have held up well through one riding season. So durability grade is incomplete but promising so far

Forgot how much I love Alpinestars boots
I have gotten away from Alpinestars and have been wearing Fox Racing boots more recently. I have had Tech 7s in the past and never had a complaint about them. I went with fox because the price was right and I tried a friends and liked the boot. I purchased the Tech 1s with a little apprehension. I was afraid that being a "lower" end boot I would be disappointed in the fit. I was extremely impressed. I don't think I will ever switch from Alpinestars again.

Great pair of boots.
Fits great! Its my first pair of boots, so I'm not an expert, but I like the feel, and they are very comfortable.

Great value, however
I wanted to give these boots five stars. More on that later.

Pros:
Comfortable right out of the box. No break-in required. An articulated joint at this price point is unheard of. Toe box has plenty of room. Rode a brand new pair all day. No blisters.
Excellent buckles, nice leather.

Cons:
That roomy toe box makes it difficult to get it under the shifter.
Stitched on stiff sole means little feel for the pegs, brake pedal and shifter. Lastly (and this is really annoying) these boots are about 2" shorter in height than my ONeal Elements. Pants will not stay tucked in to the tops, and knees guards butt up against the tops.

All in all the advantages outweigh the annoyances, ergo: 4 stars.

NOTE: Alpinestars retired this model in 2018 after a few years on the market, so hopefully the replacement will correct the flaws.Great effort at an entry level boot, IMO.

I have only used them a couple times, but so far they are extremely comfortable and seem to hold up. I'll be updating this review as time goes on.

I'd buy it all over again if i had the chance
Been using these for about 7 months now. If i would've stuck to using my steel toe work boots i probably wouldn't have ankles left from smacking into trees. I would totally buy these again. Best entry level boot on the market.

Very satisfied
I received these boots on time when estimated and the next day went racing with them. The fitment was as promised and there was no break in time.

I'm 9 1/2 shoe size or ten What will be my size on a atv boot ?
A shopper on Oct 31, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I bounce between 91/2 and 10 on shoe size depending on the shoe and I bought a size 10. I wear the more traditional thick MX socks and they fit well. They're not too loose at all. My recommendation would be to go with the 10's.
Can these be used as motorcycle boots also?
A shopper on Sep 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I would say they should not be road motorcycle boots but if you are talking dirtbike boots then absolutely Yes, they would be great for that. I love mine for ATV riding. They feel broke in the first time you wear them due to the hinged ankle. Excellent boots for the money.
i usually wear an 11.5 in normal shoes. I have a pair of alpine stars tech 3 boots that are a size 11. should i go with an 11 again or go up to a 12? i have had the tech 3's for a while now so they are worn in and stretched to fit me.
drew d on Mar 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, I would stay with the 11 my husband wears that size also and he likes them alittle snug. 11 worked great for him and it helps once they are broke in that they dont feel too big.
I wear a size 14 wide redwing boot, and similar sneaker. How is the fit on these and any suggestion to size?
A shopper on Dec 12, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I wear a size 10w workboot and a size 9.5w sneaker and i bought the Alpinestar Tech 1 size 10 and they fit good. I ride with them all the time with no problems. Size 14 should be good for you. Hope this helps.
i have a size 13 wide foot, do I stay with the same size or go up one?
A shopper on Jul 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: These boots fit appropriately . I wear an 11 shoe and boot runs a little big but that’s normal because thick socks will take up the space
How tall is the size 7 Tech 1 boot ?
A shopper on Apr 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I think it correlates with foot size. I wear an 11 and it is about 3 inches below my knee. I haven’t actually measured it.
is the tech 1 waterproof?
Jason K on Jan 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would say they are water resistant....no major water entry from the occasional splash or puddle, but soak them in standing water and you're getting water inside.
At the 2:30 of the video when the buckle gets locked in place, is that it? No need to force it to click in place kind of like a second click?
A shopper on Oct 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I threw these boots on twice so far - they were relatively clean each time but literally no fighting the buckle. Hook it and push it into place. No crazy battling, phoning a friend, using two hands, hitting it with a hammer or anything like that required. Very easy and friendly design. That might be different if the boots are covered in soil/mud though!
Are the soles replacable on these boots?
A shopper on Apr 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: For the value it would not be worth it. They are very durable, I’m sure it can be done
are buckle straps sold separate 2 of the ones on my left boot broke? and where can i buy them if so
michael c on Mar 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Contact alpinestars with photos. They have amazing customer service. They promptly sent me a few straps with metal fittings (from the tech 10 I think), when I broke mine. They even covered shipping for me.
how do you give more slack to the buckles or make them smaller?
Emmanuel R on Oct 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There are sliders that move in and out. The underside of the latch strap that goes into the buckle has teeth that grip and allow you to adjust the length. I am a bigger rider and these fit me great and run true to size. I even have a bunion on my right foot and they still fit great.
