As part of their Tech-Touring lineup, the Hyper Drystar Pants are made for the rider that wants 3-season, cold-weather, waterproof gear with a style that’s understated without being boring. Heavy-denier fabrics make up the pant’s shell for the abrasion resistance you’d expect, but there’s also several crucial areas like the knees and seat where stretch fabrics and accordion panels promote movement and retain your full range of motion. The legs of the pant are also slightly pre-curved to prevent material from bunching up when you’re in the riding position and to make the Hyper Pants more versatile when it comes to more tucked positions—meaning the Hyper can work just as well on a sport tourer as an ADV bike.

Inside the pant it’s all about utility and functionality. A removable 100 gram thermal liner handles winter riding, the non-removable waterproof Drystar liner delivers reliable waterproofing that’s always there when you need it, and zippered ventilation on the thighs promotes breathability by pulling moisture out through the Drystar liner. Astars tosses in several smaller finishing touches, and in the end, the Hyper Drystar Pants turn out to be one of the best cold, wet-weather pants under the $300 mark. And that makes the pants great for commuting, touring, adventure, and even some light dual-sport riding.
