Comments On Feb 01, 2016:I love this filter. Noticed a big difference with throttle control. Love how it's built like my K&n on my cars that I have owned.

expensive but worth it

Comments On Dec 05, 2015:bought the k&n only because it doesn't require the plastic cage to keep it from collapsing so its much easier to get through the tight subframe. another nice feature is that it is 2 pieces so you can get the outer ring on and see that its seated all the way around, then put the top on with the nut. never been a fan of k&n, just bought it for that reason.

More good than bad

Comments On Apr 17, 2015:First off MADE IN THE USA +1 for K&N. I've always trusted K&N air filters in my vehicles, so I gave this one a try. The filter is built very robust, but makes it a real to install. As others have stated the seal is questionable, in fact so questionable that I take the air box out to mount it, with a good layer of white lithium between it and the seat. I've been using it for 3 years in dust, mud and sand and haven't had anything get past it yet.
Bottom line: It has far outlasted a foam filter, made in the USA, kept my engine safe, only difficult to install correctly.

I think I'll go back to the foam style.

Comments On Apr 05, 2015:I mostly purchased the K&N filter because removing and installing the rigid filter cage of the 450x is difficult and it can be hard to know if you got it seated properly. The K&N is flexible and has the removable center so it is a little easier to install and you can feel inside with your fingers to verify that it is positioned and seated properly. That part I like. However, holding it up the light reveals many little pin holes of light passing through the filter and it seemed to me that if there is a light path then chances are that dust can also pass. I searched online and found about 50:50 arguing for and against this possibility so I did my own test and found that after a couple of hours riding behind in dusty conditions there was in fact some fine dust deposited on the air box walls behind the filter. I didn't notice any power gain with this filter.
