MT43 - Great tire

Comments On Apr 19, 2016:Full disclosure I have some trials experience. This tire is incredible if you know its limits, muddy/cruddy braking you need to compensate on the front brake as the rear tread can pack up which, if even you're not a skilled racer this is still totally controllable. Tubliss works great, I ran 6 PSI on an XR400 in Moab and hooks up like a trials bike, in wet/rooty and muddy BC (on the same bike) this tire still works fantastically . As many have posted , if you want to roost buddies, tear up dirt and spread cow pies, have poor clutch/throttle control this is not your tire, but if you can drive a trials tire or if you want to know how to use a trials tire to better your skills - this is the cats whiskers!

Fantastic for Colorado

Comments On Feb 28, 2016:Much better than knobby for degraded granite. Easier on the trails too.

Hooks up when you wouldn't think it would.

Comments On Jan 26, 2016:If you ride in harder, baked terrain with rocks thrown in, this tire works great for the money. Bump compliance is enhanced due to sidewall flex as well. Snow and deep sand are not the best to try and ride through, but overall you will be amazed at what it hooks up on. Works great in normal trail conditions that make a rider drool. If you're a spin or skid tire, it's not for you. If you're not worried about blowing up every corner out there, give it a try.

Stay out of thick mud and this is a good tire

Comments On Jan 26, 2016:This tire certainly does not look the part. Amazing traction on roots/rocks/hardpack. As others have said loads up in sticky mud, and has less than stelar braking. I was worried about the lack of side knobs being an issue when leaned over. It is OK, and then there is not much of a transition. I modified my riding style to square things off and use my core to keep the tire oriented in the middle vs. the sides as much as possible, and benefited from it. It did way better than expected in sand.
Downhill braking was not much of an issue if you adjusted for it. I tend to roll things out and use the front brake more anyway, so maybe it was just my technique.
This tire seems to have a dead feeling with less rebound and chatter. It also conforms well to the ground. This seems to allow it to get way better traction than you would expect. It was amazing in Moab rocks, did well in high Colorado singletrack, and was very durable even at low pressures.
It did wear fairly quick, but kept its traction practically down to the tread. It would be my go to tire for dual sport use, for sensitive areas you don't want to tear up, or for gnarly single track riding. If you ride like a hammer, in a dynamic style, shred things, or get into mud this is not going to be your cup of beer.

Great dual sport and off-road tire

Comments On Dec 19, 2015:Not a true trials tire because of the stiff side wall. That makes it a great dual sport tire (DOT legal) and rough terrain off road tire. It works great on hard pack and any rocks. Hooks up. Lasts and lasts. Really slick clay is the only weakness for the tire. You can run 8 lbs off road. If it was higher speed, I would run 10 lbs. Never had a pinch flat.

Good Tire

Comments On Dec 08, 2015:I used this tire on a 400 mile Colorado trail ride. It works well in the rocks and at slower speeds. Not so good on fire roads. Very slick on hard flat dirt. Not good in the mud. For single track it works very good.

Note this is really a tubeless tire

Comments On Nov 29, 2015:Very impressed with this tire so far on the front.
IRC TR-11 front tube-type running low with Tubliss lasted 1700 miles and 184 hours (95% dirt) but the sidewalls are just not strong enough.
IRC TR-11 rear is tubeless with strong sidewalls and is still running even though the knobs are down to about 2 mm.
Despite what the description here says, the mfr website and the tire sidewall both say TUBELESS. That means tough sidewalls and easy to mount with Tubliss.

Come onâ?¦everyone's doing it

Comments On Oct 27, 2015:running trials tires is really like cheating. they may not be the best choice in full on race conditions, but for 90% of the riding most of us do, they are magic.
