Changes color over time
Bought this for my 2012 klr650 and after about 4K miles the exhaust had changed color to a burnt golden brown in different areas around the tip. I did repack the fiberglass after it first started to change color but that didn’t seem to stop It from turning brown. I’m not really sure how I feel about it. It looked nice before but now its kind of an eye sore. The exhaust itself sounds nice, not too loud but still has a nice thump to it. As for looks about 6 months later...I’m not a fan.

So far so good, time will tell on durability
Pipe is a good fit, install was easy, needed to get a new rear mounting bolt from hardware store as the one with kit is not long enough. Pipe sounds good not too loud.

Like the sound and adjustability but for my 09 old 650 the fit for the midpipe was sub par meaning the alignment of it and the muffler and clearance to the frame just ain't right, but made it work...but worse than that are the retainment springs , way to short on the upper mount , right length for the lower mount but every time I tried to stretch to position the spring ends would pull out busting my knuckles. Had to purchase 80mm spring for top mount and better quality 70mm for the bottom. This was even after I was sent a replacement set , so I would consider this before buying this system...I had to add another$30.00 bucks to make it right. Also the repack life of the muffler is very short at 20hrs.

Outstanding value and performance
While not a considerable power-adder, my 2006 KLR 650 seems to have benefitted from additional torque during acceleration. The mid pipe uses the factory clamp where it attaches to the header. The silencer is a very tight fit to the mid pipe, and the springs provided were not able to be expanded without failure of the spring. I will use wound wire to ensure they stay connected, however the kit is extremely well engineered and tolerances very tight, so I imagine that I could do nothing, and there is little-to-no chance for separation of the mid pipe from either the silencer or the header.

The only other issue is that the bolts that attach the silencer straps to the factory mount locations were too short and did not protrude beyond the back side of the nuts provided. I will likely purchase longer bolts as replacements for this.

The entire system looks great on the motorcycle. Sealing the components with high temp silicone works well. Although I like the tunability, there is little chance that I will actually change internals. Although louder than the factory muffler, it is not so much so that it is annoying to the rider; some believe that louder exhausts on motorcycles improves safety in traffic.

The only other issue is that there is occasional popping during deceleration. It may be necessary to increase the primary and main jets after installation, but there is no recommendation in the installation instructions to do so. I'm going to ride them a few hundred miles and evaluate the plug before I make any changes to the carb.

All-in-all, an excellent product at a super value. I am very happy with it so far.

Fit and finish are great, the only negative is that you have to use high temp silicone at the joints because it doesn't come with clamps.

LEXX exhaust on my 2013 KLR
Purchased the LEXX to replace the Jardine RT-4 on my 2013 KLR. The DB output on the Jardine was too much for USFS rides even with the quiet core adapter. The LEXX meets the approved and acceptable DB level required by the Forest Service for organized events. A very easy install. Supplied springs are poorly made, a little tension and they seperate, recommend you get better aftermarket exhaust springs. Also the use of high temp silicone eliminates the chance of any leaks at mated surfaces. I’m very satisfied with the overall performance from the LEXX and recommend it.
Great upgrade on my 2013 KLR. Had a Jardine RT-4 but the DB level was too much for the USFS rides.

Can't be beat
The stock 2014 ktm excf exhaust literally was the cause of the top end AND end cap of the exhaust can to explode. Yes, the top end and wndcap blew up/off due to the stock emissions configuration. And it didnt happen once, but twice, since I had ktm total care coverage. Once the coverage terminated, I put money into a wiseco high comp top end, a HD jetting tuner, and this exhaust can...and oh what a difference! If you work these mods in part or together, you won't be disappointed. The black can gets lots of nods. I like it cos it is tunable and inexpensive, yet built to last.

Lexx Exhaust
Put it on an '08 KFX450R
Fits good
Sounds good. Love the different options of the inserts to change up the sound.

Been installed for about a year with no issues.

Expect the little spring to break while installing since you need to stretch it pretty far to get it attached.

One thing I dont like about it (same issue as many slip on exhausts though) is that it sticks out past my grab bar. Careful with your 12:00 wheelies

BEST ANSWER: Yes, I have this same combination and it works great. Just use some silicone seal on the joint. No clamp required. And replace the Lexx springs with some good-quality exhaust springs like FMF.
does this come with a spark arrestor?
Blake S on Aug 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does. It includes a USFA approved Quiet Core spark arrestor Insert that brings sound levels down below 96db.
Got an 06 wr450, put this pipe on and it messed with the jetting so I need to rejet. Any recommendations on what jet size to go up to?
A shopper on Aug 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's hard to recommend what to adjust without really knowing how the bike is running. The best advice is to purchase some some bigger main jets and pilot jets than what you currently have. Also you have adjustments on the needle height and air fuel screw. when making adjustments best to adjust one thing at a time and see how the bike runs. Pilot will effect idle and right off idle. needle height will effect low to mid and main will effect mid to top. Hope this helps and good luck.
Does it make the bike louder?
A shopper on Feb 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It depends on the size tip that you use. I have the 32 mm tip on it without the spark arrestor insert and it is slightly louder and throatier than stock, but not unpleasant. Actually it sounds great to me. I have not tried the full race tip that comes with it. I believe that is 36 mm, and others have said it was too loud with that tip.
Does it fit on the stock headers?

Does this exhaust cause popping on deceleration on a KLR 650?
A shopper on Mar 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hello, On my 2005 KLR650 I have no issues with decel. popping. I have NOT done any carb or airbox mods either. P.s. you didn't ask, but I love this can!
Do i have to jet with this pipe?
A shopper on Aug 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You don't have too but your bike may run a litle lean if you don't depending on how restrictive the stock muffler is. I rejetted my Honda 250X using suggested jetting provided by Rocky Mountain ATV MC's website and my bike runs fantastic! Before the rejetting it ran a little lean because the stock Honda muffler is quite restrictive.
Other than some silicon sealant on the midpipe, do I need to reuse the actual stock clamp gasket with this slip on, or just the little bit of sealant? Thanks -
A shopper on Sep 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There is sleeve bushing that adapts the new mid pipe to the head pipe using High Temp RTV Silicone on all mating surfaces. loosen the head pips at the head to help align everything, no clamp needed .
Have 2017 klr 650 if I use lexx slip on exhaust do I need to re jet carb or stock carb ok?
David H on Aug 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have found that taking the air box lid off along with re-jet works best with lexx exhaust. but to answer your question you would probably be ok not to re-jet if you just put on the exhaust on by it self. if your looking for more performance you will notice the difference if you take off airbox lid and re-jet
I have a 2005 Kawasaki KFX 400, Completely stock, I just put the exhaust on today and when I started it up it started to bog and back fire like crazy. SO I think I might have to rejet it but don't know what kind of jets to go with? 223 ft elevation ....... SO PLEASE HELP ME
Dalton M on Feb 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have a different ride but you will need to reject, it would probably be the same as any slip on so check all the forums or thumper.FYI the end cap screws have all vibrated put of mine so I got screws at ace HW and used locktite. Screw holes try to strip out and color will turn black to brown bot still a great value and good sound.
Got this slip on for an '06 KTM 525 EXC. Problem is the midpipe seems just a little too small to slip on to the header pipe. Should I get the midpipe enlarged or should I just pull up my panties and try harder?
Jeremy J on Apr 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Either Option works I have a 08 530 and i had to muscle it on a tad. Maybe take a soft mallet and tape it on. Otherwise if you have a torch heat up the slip on and it should barely slip over the header.
I have a 2004 YZ450F with the stock header. Is this collar required to install the Lexx MXe Slip-On Silencer With Mid-Pipe on it?

Lexx MXe Replacement Exhaust Collar
Lexx MXe Replacement Exhaust Collar
BEST ANSWER: Hi Daniel. The Lexx silencer comes with three different collars. One should fit the stock header perfectly and then I used high temperature silicon around the collar to seal it up good. I'm very pleased with the silencer so far.
When I buy the exhaust do I get all the interchangeable tips? Or do do I buy them separately?
Jordan W on May 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The tip is the same. What is interchangeable is the insert. You get a spark arrester, and a quite core insert.
What the best pipe for a Honda 250x?
A shopper on Aug 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I found this pipe an excellent low cost alternative to other aftermarket slip ons. The build quality is great and the fitment is excellent. The exhaust note is not much louder than stock with the spark arrestor in place. there is a slight performance increase with is much greater if you do the airbox modfication and re-jet your bike per the instructions on the Rocky Mountain website (this really wakes up your bike). The down side is this pipe is not much lighter than stock. If you want a light weight upgrade then I would suggest you spend more and purchase another slip on from other manufacturers on their website.
Is this trail legal? whats the decibel reading on it?
sean o on May 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: yes it is trail legal as long as you have the baffle/spark arrestor in it. Not sure of decibel reading but I ride all day with mine and its not too loud. very loud if baffle is removed! hope this helps.
Anyone have a weird smell on the 1st couple rides? Wondering if its the packig in my new lexx slipon or if its my new radiators. Only 2 things changed
branden w on Jun 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It may represent the oil or protective coating applied during manufacturing as the muffler goes through its first few heat cycles. It should not be there after this burns off.
How come my mid pipe is too big for the header and my coupler is too big for my mid pipe?
Wade H on Sep 22, 2018

Are you sure you received the correct item for your brand of motorcycle. My son and I both installed this item on our KLR 650's and it fit perfectly.

Is this pipe compatible with the fmf power bomb header?
Nathaniel G on Aug 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: FMF definitely is the pipe to go with but for the money the Lexx pipe does a fine job. Tone is good but not as deep and crisp as the FMF. I did a combo on my 2004 ktm and went with the lexx pipe and R&D power bowl. Man what a difference in power and throttle response. You can get both or spend 400.00 bucks and get a pipe.
Does it come with a mid pipe, mine didn’t. Or is it not in the kit.?

400ex 2005, if I install this pipe what would the recommended Jetting be? Stock ATV
robert d on May 3, 2018

I just bought this exhaust today and I installed it and it came with the quite core and came with spark arrestor so how do I take the spark arrestor out and make it louder without the spark arrestor?
Dalton M on Feb 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Undo the bolts around the end cap it will pull out then replace the end cap there is a 40mm cap that slightly improves the bottom end response not as loud as the open exhaust

Does the 46mm tip give more power then with out a tip in it at all??
A shopper on Mar 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I only ride with the tip in because I don't like extremely loud bikes. My only advice is make sure to loctight all end cap screws and check screws often . I have had all screws come out over about 3000 miles. Still love the LEXX.
If i combine this with a fmf powerbomb for a 2004 yzf 250 what jett kit will i need, and can i get from here?
bradford l on Nov 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: jetting is a trial and error thing. you will need to see how it is running. most likely you will have to lean it out a little seeing that they will get more air into the cylinder and create more back pressure. we do not have a set type or size jet you will need to run for that.
So I installed this on my 2005 CRF450x. Without the spark arrestor, it's almost too loud with it being just a straight pipe basically but with the spark arrestor in, it isn't much deeper or louder than stock. Has anyone found a happy median? Would it work to take the arrestor out but put some exhaust packing in it?
A shopper on Apr 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I repacked it with a mix of standard packing and steel wool, and still use the arrestor. If you pack it well it does quiet down a bit.
