How to - 2 Stroke Pipe Install

RM YouTube Channel

Details

The FMF SST is a 2-stroke pipe that uses new FMF technology to provide a large increase in overall power, better throttle response, and a linear power band. This makes the SST a great choice for high speed riding and times when you’re higher up in the rpms.

The specifics behind the SST’s performance are in the sonic wave tech FMF puts into the pipe. Using a patent pending system of shaped bulges and cones near the stinger of the pipe, FMF says they’re able to produce a 10 to 13% increase in power.

The pipe is still produced with the familiar FMF quality that includes quality stamping, precision welding, and a corrosion resistant nickel finish. Overall you can think of the SST like a combination of FMF’s Fatty and Rev pipes, making for some of the best overall power delivery available.

    Specs:
  • Increases horsepower between 10 and 13% in most cases
  • Extends over rev considerably
  • Increases mid-range
  • Sharpens throttle response for crisp reaction
  • More usable torque and tractability
  • Quality stamping and production process
  • Corrosion resistant nickel finish
  • Hand welded for accurate fitment
  • Can lower running temperatures
  • Patent pending pipe shape uses series of precise bulges and cones to refine/product power
  • Stinger section takes return exhaust wave and reflects a stronger force via a specially designed convergence cone.
  • Most models include new o-rings
  • Made 100% in the USA

SST review
I purchased the SST and had fatty before. I loved the SST because it didn't hit hard on bottom end so I ride on the higher end of the powerband so faster and smoother. Pipes that hit hard on bottom for me I tend to get off balance a little and not as smooth. If you are b rider or above the SST works well as you probably stay on the top end.

Just not for motocross.
Would be a great pipe for the dunes . great mid-top. Bike falls off the pipe very easy on the track though.

Great Pipe
Noticable difference in power compared to stock. I also have Pro Circuit Pipe, but feels very similar to the SST.

Had quality issue with first SST. RMATV gave me a new pipe at no charge. Great Company

This pipe came on my rm when I bought it. I bought a used stock pipe to compare the them and the sst gave the bike a stronger over-rev with a smother bottom end. The stock pipe was more torquey in the bottom end and turned on sooner and signed off sooner. I decided to keep the stock pipe and sell the sst.

If you like shiney pipes and want more top end out of your bike and are willing to compromise some bottom end, this might be the right pipe for you. Remember, you don't get somethin for nothin.

Not Impressed
I had this pipe on a 2007 cr250r. It was really hard getting on to fit the silencer compared to the fatty which I had on before this. I used this pipe for about a month and one time when I landed from a jump CLEANLY on a good landing the pipe completely snapped in 2 pieces on one of the welds near the skinny part of the pipe at the rear. After that I just went went back to the fatty again. The sst has a sort of welded attachment at the rear of the pipe and it makes it go on crooked and puts tension on it so it will most likely break again. The fatty doesn't have this and it goes right on easy with no tension and the power difference wasn't noticeable enough to mess with the SST again. I recommend the fatty but I havent tried the gnarly though.
