The perfect fit for your FMF pipe
What else would you expect from FMF but perfect. Have one on my sons KTM85 SX and he loves it. Great power, easy installation and perfect fit. He races on some tight noise restricted tracks and he hasn’t had any issues yet but it definitely is NOT the quietest pipe going around. A lot off sandy tracks and power is awesome. You will love it

Has anybody compared the Powercore II with the Powercore 2.1 to see if it's worth the investment? FMF describes the 2.1 as a refinement of the II, but they don't provide much in way of hard facts regarding what those refinements are and what difference they make in performance and/or maintenance. Lighter? Easier to pack? Quieter? Better all around power, or better power in a particular rpm range? Better durability? Love to know what I'd get for the extra $60!

FMF Power Core II Silencer
FMF Power Core 2.1 Silencer
FMF Power Core 2.1 Silencer
BEST ANSWER: The powercore 2.1 silencer has a larger core and canister designed like the for stroke silencer. More packing material and the larger can will reduce sound over the classic powercore 2 . A larger can will be a little easier to repack by having more room to align the perforated inner core. The shorter the silencer is has an effect of more abrupt power curve, faster roll on torque and faster revs, a larger longer silencer is normally a bit quieter, creates a broader / linear power spread and better top end . Choose for your riding style and terrain .If you like ultra tight woods or tracks I believe the powercore 2 will be a good choice . A larger silencer has more of a chance to get damaged in a crash as more of the silencer protrudes past the number plate. What ever FMF silencer you choose ,you will get a quality unit , I like the Q series also if being quiet is of great importance in your area. I have owned 4 FMF silencers over the years and I prefer the Powercore 2 because of the price is very good, very nicely built and fits well ,enhances low rpm power which allows me to carry a gear high with a little less clutch work .Reasonable sound level (louder than stock).
Does it have a spark arrester?
A shopper on Aug 24, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Nope. From FMF "This is a common question we get here at FMF Racing. You cannot add a spark arrestor screen to any existing 2-stroke silencer. The reason for this is because all of our 2-Stroke silencers that have spark arrestors, are built into the actual core as a "Turbine Dampening System" that is welded to the core and is U.S. Forestry Approved. The three silencers we offer with spark arrestors are the Turbinecore's, Q Series and the Q-Stealth's."
I've been told by ppl that when you add an aftermarket silencer, you will have to re-jet your carb?! Is this true? Is thier a chart to use? What other equipment will I need to purchase? It's for a 2016 KTM 50sx... thanks
Anthony P on Oct 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello Anthony,

It is possible your KTM 50 will need re-jetted once the new FMF Core II silencer is added. Normally this would be one size bigger on the main jet. I would install the silencer and run the motorcycle for a few minutes. Notice to see if you hear any popping when the motor is wound up. This normally means the motor is running to lean and a bigger main jet is in order. Once you run the motor for 10 minutes or so check the spark plug, it should be a nice light brown, if it is white with no sign of any oil then the motor is running to lean and a bigger main jet is in order. Pro Circuit puts out a jetting chart, that can be handy but this is for a stock motorcycle without any modifications. I checked this chart for you bike and it doesn't show any changes so I would just do the checks as described above. The 2016 KTM 50 SX comes stock with an 85 main jet, and you can order a 90 the next size bigger from the OEM parts page on RockyMountainATVMC.

Hope This Helps!

Jason
Will this fit a 2000 yz250?

Is this pipe a spark arestor?
A shopper on Sep 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello,

This silencer is not a spark arrestor. You will need the FMF Turbine Core II Silencer if you would like for it to be the spark arrestor type.
do all aftermarket silencers have built in spark aresstor?
A shopper on Mar 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Not all silencers comes with spark arrestors ,some are designed for use or removal of the arrestor. If you race and your event necessitates that you must have one, make sure you have a silencer that has one,or your bike is going back in the trailer. Look at the description of the silencer of your choice , if it says USFA (US Forestry Approved) or Forestry Approved means it has a spark arrestor. Two stroke arrestors need to be cleaned frequently as they clog with oil residue, four strokes stay clean for longer periods of time. Silencers with arrestors are normally a little bit more expensive than ones that are not equipped .Most silencers are for racing so if you want one that has an arrestor, make sure it has one listed in its description by Rocky MT or by the MFGs listing.
2013 KTM 200 xc-w. Will an EE endcap with spark arrestor that fits onto the stock pipe, fit onto the powercore silencer?
Peter M on Jul 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No. Stock silencer and this one are shaped differently. Stock is more of a circle and this one is more of an elongated flat sided circle. And they the caps attach differently.
I've got this silencer on a 2015 ktm 50. Will this same silencer fit a 2018 ktm 65?
Ron C on May 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No it will not because 16-18 have different silencers.
