The Rekluse Left Hand Rear Brake Kit offers next-level control by letting you manipulate the rear brake through your left hand lever while still keeping your clutch lever in place, setting itself up to pair perfectly with your Rekluse auto-clutch.

The master cylinder’s compact design positions your new brake lever over your existing clutch lever to give you an easy reach to both controls. While you will still retain the use of your rear brake pedal, the Left Hand Rear Brake Kit lets you modulate the rear brake when you're in an awkward position where reaching the pedal with your foot is uncomfortable or not possible.

With the rear brake so easily accessible you’ll find yourself using it more, which builds a wider range of on-bike skills and helps keep your riding fast and smooth. Combine these benefits with the easy installation and the free hand you'll have if you install a Rekluse auto-clutch, and you have another high-quality product from Rekluse that just makes sense and helps you enjoy the ride.

  • Engage the rear brake with your hand so you can free up your foot in the corners.
  • Keep your clutch lever in the same spot and this kit will still have plenty of room for easy operation.
  • Perfact match when paired with an auto-clutch from Rekluse.
  • Made 100% in the USA: Rekluse supports the sport by designing, manufacturing, and shipping everything under the Rekluse name from their headquarters in Boise, Idaho.

    Peformance and Versatility
  • Multiple options for rear brake use
  • More control in corners, steep inclines, narrow traisl, etc.
  • Retain use of clutch lever
  • Retain use of rear brake pedal
  • Simple installation
  • Compact design
  • Increased rear brake control

Your new job: Bleeding the brakes over and over - Rekluse FAIL
I had high hopes for this left hand brake but Rekluse let me down big time on this design. I love my Rekluse clutch so I took a 300 dollar chance on this. However, this brake is aweful. Here's why:

You bleed it bottom up, top down... anyway way you want until there are zero air bubbles. It will work great in the driveway. Then you go ride and it acts up. Mine did this odd thing where when the hand lever is pulled, it does NOTHNG (no brakes) but while puled in, the foot brakes works.

Or the reverse... you can depress the foot pedal (doing nothing - no brakes) but the hand brake will work.

The only way I got back with any rear brakes was to zip tie the hand brake down so the foot pedal will work.

I spent hours on the phone with Rekluse tech support. All they really did was send me the PDF of the same printed doc that comes with the kit. They were not able to offer any technical reason why my left hand brake worked the way it did.

I am going with the OX Left Hand Brake. I know it's mechanical and that is the beauty. You don't have to BLEED YOUR BRAKES IN A TRIANGLE - AGAIN and AGAIN.

Like it still getting used to using it
Works fantastic- still getting used to it had a couple moments of wanting to grab the wrong thing while riding at the track, but will just take some getting used to. Install was great just like their video, no trouble st all. Best thing is rear foot brake still works so use the hand when it makes sense.

will not work on a ktm excf model
Very disappointed this was listed as fitting the excf models. The only way this will work is to remove the left handle bar switch assembly. Not an option if you intend to retain the street legal functions of this bike. Now i have a three hundred dollar part i can't use and can't return.

Great idea, but needs more R&D for ergonomics and installation.
I've had this for only a month or so, 3 rides. I still can't get it bleed properly, I have to pump the brake to get it to engage. It interferes with the clutch when I set the clutch in an aggressive riding position. I will continue working at these issues. I'm running short on patients though and I'm now thinking of the Clarke as a replacement.

Makes riding tight swicthbacks a breeze. I have a Rekluse clutch but still retain the clutch lever so mounting is a little tight and exposes the hand brake assembly to crash damage. Still would recommend.

This is a necessity with the Rekluse clucth
Now that I have 10 rides on both the Rekluse clutch and this rear hand brake I can make a fair review. They should be sold as a set. Dont buy the clutch without it. If you ride trails, its a no brainer. Right foot down in corners and switch backs and the ability to apply rear brake WOW! Its tuff to get the air out, do yourself a favor and DO NOT LEVER the UNIT right out of the box. WAIT, till its in place and full of fluid! Fitment, I dinged cause it is so stinking close to the exhaust on the footbrake slave /master reservoir. I insulated the brake line here and so far OK. Asked Rekluse to make a 15* offset fitting here. X your fingers they listen.

Love the left hand rear break
The new model is so much better than my older one on my 250x. Great product and company, have called their customer support and they are always nice and helpful.

Great addition, especially for Enduro and CC riding
If you ride in tight conditions such as Enduro or Cross Country type riding/racing this is a must have addition to your bike. I very rarely use my foot pedal brake because, with the hand brake, I have better feel and control of how much brake I'm applying.
The installation is a little time consuming but straight forward. Reading the installation manual before you get started helps with layout. The only difficulty I had was figuring out where to place the lever assembly and still keep my clutch lever in a useful location. My KTM clutch hydraulic reservoir takes up a lot of space on the bar so it takes a bit of time to figure where to place everything.

Is this the upgraded LHB with the stainless braided precut brake line?
Robert B on Apr 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is, its pretty useful but takes a little getting use too to grab it and the clutch, kinda wish it would go with the front brake instead
how is the stopping power and consistency, without the pedal?
Steven B on Feb 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Incredible! I have this one on my KTM300XCW and I bought the other cable operated one for my KTM250xcf. Its a game changer, brake dragging on corners, steep downhills and one huge plus is if you get stuck going up something steep! Grab the rear hand brake and jump off the bike.

The foot is much more powerful however its not effective pressure, on slippery terrain if the tire is locking its not stopping you, with the hand i can modulate slippage and actually stop the bike.
Will I be able to tell the difference between a hand back brake and a foot brake. If the braking power?
A shopper on Oct 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There is WAY more control and feel through the hand brake. I did find that one finger is not enough, I was trying to keep one finger on the brake at all times, but that did not provide enough braking power. 2 fingers is perfect, you can get just the right amount of braking power you need. easy to lock up if you need to, but I don't keep 2 fingers on the lever, I just keep 5 on the grip until I'm anticipating needing to use the brake. The foot brake never gave me much control because of the boot. I'll never own another dirt bike without the hand rear brake.
I recently bought the rekluse clutch and left hand rear brake I dropped the bike and the lever for the hand rear brake is broken can I purchase the lever or do I need to buy the full kit all over again ?
christopher g on Aug 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Call Rekluse. I'm sure they can sell you just the lever. I don't see it as an option thru Rockymountain.
Is the hose fitting on the Rekluse brake the same as the hose fitting in the stock KTM Brembo clutch master? I would like to use the clutch master cylinder as a brake lever, and the Rekluse as the clutch override.
Dustin B on Nov 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No. The ReKluse fitting is much smaller. I looked and the Rekluse fitting on the brake master cylinder is also smaller than the KTM clutch slave so you couldn't swap that end either. I love my Rekluse LHRB. I moved the clutch lever up just a little so it is out of the way until I need it. The LHRB lever is below the clutch lever. I have a Rekluse autoclutch, so I don't use the clutch lever than much.
Is this the updated version with adjustable settings from 2016 onwards?
A shopper on Jul 8, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I bought mine in summer of 2016. It has plenty of adjustability. Just to add, it is a progressive feel, and really takes some effort to lock up the wheel. Because of this, I use it for finer control, like going down a rocky hill. If I'm going fast into a corner and just want to lock up the rear wheel, I still use the rear brake, which is like a switch. It doesn't take long to know which brake to use when. Sometimes I'll use the bar lever slowing down into a corner, but then decide I need to lock it up, so I will release the bar lever and punch the foot lever. Overall, I'm very happy to have the choice between a 'switch' and 'fine control'.
Hi, is this rear brake kit the latest model with an adjustable master cyclinder and stainless steel brake line? thanks
Alexander M on May 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Mone was, I bought in November. I have had issues to get it to bleed, takes me 2 squeezes to get it to work somewhat, I will continue to bleed the system, it's only been 12 times, so maybe next time it will be ok, I mean I'm only hoping for OK at this point? Clarke would be my choice I'm thinking?
I have the RMS-5313 model. What do i need to make it work with a 2008 ktm 250xc-w?
Keeley D on Jan 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have the rms-5312 for my 2014 KTM 300xcw.
I believe the rms-5313 is for a yamaha...
You should email or call rekluse directly.
I believe the parts will all be the same except the insert into the rear master cylinder.
You pull out the rubber diaphragm in the rear master cylinder and insert there part....since yamaha and ktm use different resevoirs that will be the biggest difference.
Hope that helps you out
will this work for an ATV?

are you able to keep you clutch lever on the bike as well?
Troy R on Sep 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you keep the clutch lever on the bike and then add this lever for the rear brake underneath the clutch lever.
If the hand brake is damaged, or breaks, do you still retain full operation of rear pedal brake?
Richard N on Sep 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The hand brake and foot brake work independently of each other and thus one can be used while the other is not.
