Bolted and plugged right into my 16 model 300xc-w.
Installed this radiator fan with thermostat in about an hour. Rode a 3 hour extreme race the next day and it worked flawlessly. This is a ktm part and is made well

    Great cooling
Installation wasn't the easiest on my 2008 XCRW 450, you have to rivet through the radiator. Holes are of course already there, but there's still radiator fins on the other side. Scared the crap out of me, but I watched enough youtube videos of other people doing it without problems I got the confidence to try it, and it worked great.

Definitely makes a huge difference on the bike! Love that I don't have to worry about overheating when doing enduro stuff anymore. Seems very sturdy, and the fan really moves some air.

    Needed accessory
OEM part so you know the fit is perfect. Wiring is already in place on the bike.

Comes on when you need it.

If you ride anything tight or in the heat, install this and never overheat again.

Be sure you have a decent (Yuasa) battery or with the bike real hot if you turn it off the fan could drain the battery and you may end up kick starting.

    Ktm rfs must have.
Great fan tough quality and easy to install. Only con is its expensive. There are cheaper mods out there but for the quick and simple this part is great.

    Overheating?
Fixed a buddies issue with over-heating when slow riding in Florida heat. In lieu of replacing expensive radiators with higher capacity ones. You can feel the heat on your boot when this unit cycles on.

Get the newer digital kit instead
Trail Tech updated this kit and eliminated the need to splice into the radiator hose for the temp sensor. The new kit also comes with a digital display for temp and battery voltage that also allows you to set the temp at which the fan comes on and off. The temp sensor in the new kit is also much nicer, more reliable and simply installs in between the radiator fins. I would highly recommend spending the few extra bucks on the newer kit. Trail Tech also offers an upgrade kit if you already own this old style kit. I purchased the upgrade kit after already owning this kit and I am much happier with it now. A must have item for enduro guys!

    not very happy
Welll I thought this would have been a good idea not that I really need it on a 2 sttoke but why not have that extra piece of mind well after this wish I would have left it alone first off the the kit was a pain to install and didn't fit right with my rad guard but I got it to work I mean fit it never really worked from the start it might have ran a couple times in the first couple wks then it just started blowing fuse and melting wires but it was such a pain to take off I didn't get a chance to remove it for my first race I ever participated in so for some reason it decided to run in my race non stop on the first lap until it drained and completely ruined my $150 lithium battery in my bike so I contacted RM and they warrantied the fan but still nothing to show for my battery very unhappy with this piece of crap

    Keeping it cool
No boil overs last season, so it does what it should. Mounting to the radiator was easy, though on my bike, the connector for the fan in the factory wiring harness was not there. Easy enough to tie it in to one of the other power wires. Uses rivets to mount the cage to the radiator, which makes removal challenging. I would have preferred screws in the kit. Discovered that desert tanks will not work with the fan installed (hence wanting screws instead of rivets).

2016 KTM 250 XC-F: will this fan work (mount) with the Enduro Engineering radiator guards? Is it really KTM OEM?
    Troy W on Nov 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Enduro Engineering makes some radiator braces that work with fans. If you have those braces and the accompanying guards, this fan will work. This is a KTM OEM fan from Austria.
How many watts does this fan draws? Do I need a new stator for a 2017 KTM 300XC?
    FRANCISCO M on Aug 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: You do not need an higher output stator to use this fan kit on your machine.
Is this fan meant to replace the oem unit on the right side or is it an additional one that fits on the left?

    Marc
    Marc L on Oct 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Marc, my bike(2007 KTM 450exc) did not come with a fan but it was wired for one. I mounted it on the right side, if you are sitting on the bike. I believe it is to replace oem or add oem.
Does it come with the temp sensor as well?
    Marcio N on Jan 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. It comes with everything you need to install and use. The new style temp sensor goes in between the radiator fins and is very easy to install.
whats the temp setting for the fan kit ?
    A shopper on Aug 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: About 95 celcius. Be aware that this kit won't work for a XC bike. It's an xc-w only kit. get the Trail Tech if you have an XC. The difference being the KTM branded kit has to have a radiator with the hole in the bottom that you screw in a temperature sensor. It will not work if it doesn't have that. That's why you went the Trail Tech kit. It comes with a thing that plugs into the blades of a radiator that works as a sensor plus it's temperature is programmable
Will the KTM fan kit, work with Devol radiator guards and a 3.4 gallon Acerbis gas tank?
    Bob W on May 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would recommend that you search RM to find a radiator Guard/Brace combination where the brace is drilled and taped to mount the fan to the brace. The bracket supplied by KTM will vibrate loose or come lose the first time the bike lands on that side. I run them on the stock tanks and rads on 2009 and 2013 300 XCW 's in southern Ohio tight single track, the fans come on and do the job. hope this helps
I ordered this kit for my '13 KTM 350 XCF-W and the kit came with two wiring harnesses. Which should I use? I installed the one with an in-line fuse. They both integrate with stock harness. The one without a fuse has a better weather-proof connector at the thermostatic switch. After one outing the harness with the fuse is filling with water at thermostatic-switch and causing battery to drain down. Is the other harness just an improved version?
    Dan M on Apr 3, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Mine only came with 1 harness and mine was fused I would use the fused harness and use a good quality dielectric grease at all connections to keep it as waterproof as possible, you could also use a silicone rtv and push into the back of the connectors to keep water out 15 ktm 300xcw
Does this mount on a 2004 ktm 450 exc
Also wondering if the 2004 450 EXC wiring harness is set up up for a aftermarket fan?
    Thank!!!
