Excellent cases that are designed for the bike

Comments On May 22, 2015:I purchased the Yamaha cases for my Tenere and I am very happy with the quality and the fit. After a lot of research, I decided to go with these cases because I like the minimal frame work left on the bike when they aren't on, and because I like the way that they look when they are on. I would have given them a rating of 5, but I brought it down to a 4 because the mounts are a bit difficult to put on. Like others have stated, the instructions aren't the best, but not horrible. Just take your time to look over all of the bolts and make sure you have the correct one. The most frustrating part for me was that one bolt that holds the mount and handle on is a Torx style security bolt. I did not realize this until I almost had the entire thing on. You will need a Torx security style bit (a TT50 to be exact) to tighten this bolt. You will also need a Torx security bit size TT10 to install the locks. It does not tell you that you need these in the instructions, so just get them in advance. I went to Lowes and they had both for about $8.00. Not a huge deal, just kinda a pain. Other than that, they are awesome, and of course Rocky Mountain got them to me in 2 days like they always, which is why I keep coming back.

Not Perfect But Very Well Done

Comments On Feb 24, 2015:For commuting and lighter duty touring where capacity and fall protection aren't absolute essentials, this luggage system is very nice. The mounting system is clean, the cases are light but seem very well made and the whole package compliments the lines of the STen. One potential drawback on these cases is that because they top-load and fit so closely to the frame, you are limited on using aftermarket top cases. Yamaha's top case for this system works fine but my old faithful Givi E45 needs to be removed from the bike in order to open either side case. Also, the lock cores for the cases supplied by Yamaha feel very poorly made. For what is an integral part of a nice luggage system, the cores should be better.

    Yamaha Side Cases Kit

Comments On May 27, 2014:They are big but you can't put your helmet in them and you have to use the locks that come with your YAMAHA Super Tenere 1200 they do not come with locks so I gave them 4 stars. And the instructions are not the best. It took me 3 hours to put them on. They do come in handy to put your jacket rain suit and gloves in and if you need to pick some small items up.
