The Tusk Aluminum Pannier Boxes are designed and manufactured to handle the most extreme adventure motorcycling. These panniers are loaded with features to offer an unbeatable value! These panniers are made from durable yet lightweight aluminum with a tough silver or black powder-coated finish. Not only do they look great, but they prevent the items you store from getting the black residue produced when rubbed against unfinished aluminum. Unique design that eliminates seams on the back two vertical edges (weak spots on other panniers), and all existing welded seams are reinforced with internal stitch welds. For security and convenience, the boxes come complete with 4 (2 on each box) matched locks and keys already assembled on the latches! A rubber gasket at the top of the box ensures the lid is tight and waterproof. Each lid comes complete with 4 bolt-on footman loops to secure additional items. Each Large box is 37 Liters and measures 15 ½" tall, 9 ¼" deep, and 18" wide. The Medium boxes are 27 Liters each and measure 14 ¼" tall, 7 ½" deep, and 16 ¼" wide. This is a complete kit with all the mounting hardware to outfit your bike for the next adventure.

    Get what ya pay for

Comments On Apr 05, 2016:The racks don't have very good fit. A bit of grunting, pulling, and bending to make them fit. Pannier mounts need some grinding to make the lock pins line up. Panniers themselves are awesome and definitely are tough. I got what i expected for the price and would still purchase this kit again.

    Much more than I expected

Comments On Feb 24, 2016:Had originally planned to put one of the $1500.00 sets on but saw the bike build video and decided to try these. I was amazed at the price and really liked the roto pax mount included in the racks. I thought the panniers would look like old ammo cans but they looked great and the powder coat finish was well done, inside and out. Installed with very little drama and I was happy with the look. For an accessory that could become sacrificial armor I find these a great value. I could destroy these and replace the entire set for less than one of the bags from the expensive sets. I would not use these without the security knob installed. I spent a lot of money on the new 1190 Adventure R and I am happy with how these look on my bike.

    Tusk panniers with racks

Comments On Feb 23, 2016:Haha, well, these are the most economical panniers with racks that I have found. They came with clear, concise directions. I have strapped backpacks, gas cans, chainsaw, bag of dead geese to them. They are versatile! The panniers are large. Thirty eight inches wide on the klr. I haven't tested but I think they would handle well in a layover. I am happy with my purchase.

    No complaints

Comments On Feb 21, 2016:I've had these panniers on the KLR for about 5000 miles or so and have no complaints. The installation was straight forward and the RM installation video was very helpful. I appreciate purchasing equipment that seems to be designed by folks who actually ride. I'll continue to do business with RM M/C.

    Excellent value for the price

Comments On Sep 14, 2015:I've had these for a year now and would purchase them again. While the finish is a bit crude, they have held up very well and still function perfectly even after a few lay downs. The only warning I would give is that they will grab your ankle on whichever boot you put down when stopping or cornering until you get used to them.

    Tusk panniers

Comments On Aug 27, 2015:Just finished installing the large set of panniers it went pretty smoothly and they truly are a great valve for the money, at least a third of other panniers. It just took a little adjustment to be able to lock them into place ( one washer behind mounting bracket) But here is some very good advise take all the mounting nuts for the entire assembly ( especially the acorn nuts ) and replace them with nylock nuts so they won't come loose. I've read were people have lost parts from the nuts coming loose. Other than that there great .Happy trails.

Great Kit, Added Crash Protection for Me

Comments On Aug 19, 2015:I really tested the build quality on this kit earlier this year. I crashed my KLR off-road and in the sand, a tank-slapper developed at like 35mph. So we went down hard 'lowside' style, and when the tires dug into the sand the bike went back in the air and did a full 360 kinda sideways or like a barrel roll. I broke my collarbone; the bike was ok, ridable, the damage was mainly to the front subframe and fairings ect. In the rear, the cast piece that serves as the passenger grab handle and cargo rack support, and where these bags attach through, fractured in one place. I have completely disassembled the bike since, the rear subframe is as straight as from the the factory. And the subframe that comes with these panniers is slightly bent but will even out with some added spacers on one side I think. I dont know how TUSK is offering this kinda quality based on their prices I was skeptical initially. In using these panniers before crashing I really liked them, easy to mount too, looking forward to loads more miles from them.

You will get what you pay for

Comments On Aug 08, 2015:After taking about four hours to install and upgrade the very shoddy cable tie/ attachment system, I feel confident that these boxes will do great for grocery grabbing. Would I trust them on an expedition? Not a chance. Basically you get a decent rack system that you can mount wolfman bags to, and some laughable tin cans that will certainly make you look like the big adventure rider as you ride around town with them. Watch the video. Then watch it again, and maybe one more time because the written directions are missing the entire blinker extension and stabilizer mount directions. If you are not handy, get ready to cry, swear, or both.
These do not take "minutes" to install, unless you call 160 minutes minutes. Get loctite on EVERY connection and do not think that the "anti theft knob" is an option. It is essential to ensure you do not lose your cans when really hitting the trail. Normally tusk does ok for entry level items, but the thought of having these things hauling my essential gear on something like a back country discovery route makes me break out in a cold sweat.
    You have been warned.

    Not good not bad

Comments On Aug 02, 2015:I had a good review written but the website lost it, so..
    1. The locks sucks. Do the best you can to tighten and loctited all moving parts. 2. Racks mounted with ease. No b.s. 3. I centered my brackets on the bags and location on the bike is perfect. 4. I had to file the quick release pin hole to get the bag on after the bracket was mounted. 5. Wish there was a locking system for the pin. 6. All in all great bang for the buck

Poor quality -- made in China

Comments On Jun 19, 2015:Boxes seem sturdy, rack required fitting, grinding, drilling and additional hardware. Locks fell apart after two weeks of riding, rear signal wiring harness called for splicing that wasn't necessary (very unhappy about that).... I'm a machinist and still had to struggle with the parts. Lids no longer lock. Made in China. I'm being generous and giving them two stars since they haven't fallen off the bike......yet. Good luck.
