I bought these because they are relatively cheep. Thought I would be changing them out a lot on these leaky forks. Now they haven't leaked all year and have been apart twice. Very happy.
I installed these Tusk fork seals about 6 months ago and they're still doing fine. When it's time to replace them, I'll go with the Tusk brand again. No problems here.
One lasted a week the other is sill holding after several months In my opinion fork seals are a hit an miss idk if factory tolerances arnt very tight but I’ve seen several brands hold for a year An the same brand leak in a week for the price Your getting here you can’t beat it
I like that Rocky Mountain ATV offers products at a lower price point, but in this case, it wasn't worth it. I bought these seals trying to save a little bit of money, but I'll end up paying more in the long run. Not a knock on RM ATV, but I would not recommend these seals at all. Spend a little bit more and get some good ones.
These seals leaked the very first time I rode on them. At first I thought it was a bad install, but I've installed A LOT of fork seals and never had a problem. It started with the left fork and then the right fork started leaking too. That's when I came to the conclusion it had to be the seals. I could accept if I messed up one of them, but it's highly unlikely I messed them both up. Ordered better seals and will reinstall.
Had some good and bad luck with Yamaha (KYB) OEM seals, with them lasting less than 20 hours on two separate bikes. In both cases, I replaced them with Tusk seals and they seem to work quite well, but only time will tell how long they will last. Fitment was perfect.
Very simple to put on, put them on and 3 days when and ride about 100 miles of whooped out sand trails and hit up an off road race with same conditions and they held up very great I have about everything tusk on my Ktm 350 and definitely will buy more for my other bikes
I debated whether or not to buy the high end slippery fork seals for about 5 times the price of the Tusk seal. I rolled the dice and glad I did. I can detect no difference in performance from the stock WP seals that came out. They've been in for over a year and still holding oil just like new.
I installed tusk seals early spring. I have ridden ramps, clay motocross tracks, and root infested sand trails. My suspensions is relatively plush so the whole stroke is always pumping. One seals started to seep mid way through season so I jammed a guitar pick up it to clean it out. no oil leaking from forks and she's almost winter
brother and friend bought SKF 70$+ US. their forks leak.
sand the knicks, clean your tubes and it won't matter buying pricy OIL SEALS
These seals were as good as factory seals and worked for a while even with some cleaning neglect for a season and a half. Then they leaked like factory seals too. If I hadn't sold the bike with leaky seals I would have upgraded to SKF.
Machine this part was bought for: 2004 KTM 450 EXC 4-Stroke
A;ways check the tubes for nicks and deburr with 400grit while servicing. Fork inner/outer bushings need to be in good condition also. Replace dust seals if needed and you will not have any probs with these.
BEST ANSWER:They are fork mfg. specific. Check OD on lower fork leg. On my son's '01 CR Showa 47mm. On my '08 YZ KYB 48mm ...check your manual. RM ATV is pretty good assigning the correct part. Ensure you have the right year fork on your bike because a previous owner could have switched fork legs. Check hardware above the seal. Teflon wears on that hardware. Good luck. BRAAAAP!
