Great Colorado tire

Comments On Aug 25, 2015:Riding the varied terrain here in Colorado I found this tire to be versatile and very long wearing.

These are the best things ever when new

Comments On Aug 04, 2015:They wear quick to near 1/3 done mark and then last for a good while after than. Riding mostly very rocky terrain. On my fourth set and getting around 650 miles on them (rear tire) more on the front. The RC is holding up much better but very sketchy traction in the wet and dry slick.

Knobs on front rip off easily

Comments On Aug 03, 2015:Unfortunately bought two of these for the front. Ran the first one tubeless at low pressure (5-8). Front side knobs starting tearing off very quickly to the point where slime was seeping through the carcass. Figured it was a fluke/bad batch. Ran the 2nd front at 12 psi in Colorado (lots of rocks) and it was trashed within 100 miles. I was leaving drops of slime all over but it didn't leak.
I contacted Dunlop to ask them about it and they said that tire is not designed for tubeless and you must run between 12-16 psi only otherwise the tire will fall apart like mine... Rear tire held up better, but isn't anything special. Per Dunlop, the tire is not designed to be used as most people are likely to use a tire on a dirt bike...

Rear great, front so-so

Comments On Jul 12, 2015:I've got ~1500 miles on the front and back and just about to pull them off. Front tire side knobs started tearing right away. This possibly may have been from crawling up the side rim of our loading ramp on trailer and not from getting rad in the corners. Regardless, it was disappointing; however, a friend is running the front with no knob shear.. The rear has been great. it was a little slick in the beginning, but possibly from too much tire pressure. After a little break in it has provided great traction in all conditions (Idaho desert and mountains), even after substantial wear. The tire has worn great, lasted much longer than anticipated. I haven't gotten a pinch flat front or rear using HD tubes but with several rock hits resulting in rim dings. Will definitely run the rear again, and might give the front one more chance.

is there a better tire?

Comments On Jun 28, 2015:My family and I have just finished over 100 miles in Pipestone Montana. The terrain goes from high speed desert to trials type rocks to heavy swampy mud. There is also a lot of tire eating gravel roads that connect it all. Before this trip i put another 50 or so miles of desert -dirt-rock-sand type riding in Glendive Mt. These AT81s Are ridiculous. Not near the tire wear i expected, in fact almost none. I have used maxis desert it's in the past and love them. However i had issues when the terrain would transition from stable to very soft. No issues with these. i cant wait till winter so i can stud these babies! I will update you when the snow flies.

Not what I expected

Comments On Jun 08, 2015:This tire was recommended by some other racers and some top offroad factory racers. I am not too impressed. I've been running a 19" rear with mx32's and mx52's, but I recently switched to an 18" rear so I decided to give the 81 a try. It slides a lot in turns and just doesn't feel as stable as the others. I can't wait for the 18" mx32 and mx52 to be released.

Not impressed

Comments On May 22, 2015:I don't get these tires. Not holding up very well after 3 hard rocky rides. No flats yet but the grip is marginal and they will definitely pack up with mud if you end up coming across some. I bought these tires to pound on and they won't take the abuse like the Maxxis tires
