The MSR MAV 3 MIPS helmet is MSR’s mid-priced helmet with MIPS as well as some other high-end features. MIPS has changed the way to think about helmet safety. Adding MIPS to the MAV3 helmet helps bring state of the art safety technology, which other companies charge double the price for, to a helmet everyone can afford. Safety is key with all MSR helmets and the MAV 3 passes two of the toughest safety standards today. Comfort is addressed with the round-oval Shell shape and using top of the line SilverCool® wicking material in the interior. This material wicks away perspiration and dries faster than other materials, plus it is anti-microbial to help eliminate odors between washes. Shell design features great venting, a strengthened chinbar and large eye port that accommodates most goggles including “over the glasses” types.

  MIPS (Multi-Directional Impact Protection System) is a specialized helmet safety technology that is now being used in the top tier of off road helmets in order to greatly lessen the chances of traumatic brain injury.
  
  By integrating an engineered low-friction layer into the liner of the helmet, MIPS enables a relative sliding motion between the head and the helmet so angular and rotational impact forces are absorbed and deflected.
  
  Since most head impacts occur at oblique and unpredictable angles, helmets with MIPS Technology are able to offer better protection than helmets without.
