Details

The Michelin StarCross 5 Medium Terrain Tire is an excellent all-around tire for the track and trail, one that distinguishes itself with great performance and a couple pieces of new tire technology.

Like other StarCross 5 tires, the Medium Terrain’s casing is made with high-density materials that actually reduces overall weight by 15%. Plus the casing is made with Comfort Case Technology (CCT) that gives the tire a very plush feeling as you ride.

Toping everything off, Michelin gives the StarCross 5 Medium Terrain a tread pattern that grips firmly and slides predictably on a wide range of terrain. Large center blocks give straight line performance, numerous side lugs stick in while cornering, and the rubber compound manages to perform on most everything between loose loam and hard bedrock.

    Specs:
  • Casing incorporates high density materials that reduce weight up to 15% while retaining strength and durability
  • Casing features Comfort Casing Technology (CCT), which provides exceptional shock absorption that reduces rider fatigue
  • Casing is engineered to optimize the size of the tire’s contact patch, offering maximum levels of grip for precise steering and traction, even in difficult conditions
  • Aggressive front and rear tread patterns are specially designed for the StarCross 5 and improve performance across several applications
  • Intermediate and side tread blocks ensure good steering response from the front tire and traction from the rear
  • Central blocks are designed specifically to enhance braking performance and traction on all types of riding surfaces
  • Self-cleaning tread design with fine horizontal tread lines releases soil and enhances traction in a range of different conditions

Great Off Road Tire
Bought these when I replaced tires on 2006 WR250F. Fit perfectly. Good product. Worked well in sugar sand and mud in South Florida.

best front tire on the market
Vet A expert rider, been running this tire for years. Best all around front tire I have purchased. I've switched a few times through the years just to see what is out there and I have always come back to this tire.

Simply Amazing Tire
I've used a lot of tires, from Bridgestones, Dunlop, Shinko and Michelin. These are my favorite tire I've ever used. They hook up fantastic and wear very slowly. People I ride with use sticky Shinko Tires and I run this at 7 psi with tubliss and I have just as much traction without sacrificing braking and cornering performance. They are a bit expensive, but they last a good long while.

Great taction, long lasting and durable tire.
I ride a 2008 KTM 200 xc-w. I like to be on the gas so i spin alot of tire. I currently have about 5 races and 3 free rides on this Michelin. I flipped the tire about two races ago. Trying to squeez what life i can out of the tire. I ride mostly medium/hard pack. Missouri also has alot of rock and slab rock. I am extremely impressed on the durability of the tire. The life of the tire and the thing still hooks up like it did on day one. This will now be my go to rear tire. Highly recommend this tire.

Gnarly Tire!!!
These tires replaced the stock garbage tires on my FE501 and man what a difference. these tires do great in the sand, mud, grass, and hard packed dirt. I couldn't be happier with these tires, best all around tire and will be buying them again. I've got about 4-5 hours of riding with them and they still look new.

so far so good
Have only run 3 practice sessions on these tires, too early to grade tread wear. But the tires work great on our dirt/clay soil type, which even after some tilling soon becomes somewhat hard packed. The tires worked well in both conditions.

Is this a tubeless tire?
A shopper on Sep 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: not sure how to answer this. Not its not marketed to be tubeless but I'm sure it would work with higher tire pressure. I assume you are wanting to install on a road going bike? If so run the tire around 25 to 28 psi
Is this tire DOT?
Keith S on Aug 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It does not list that it is DOT approved on the sidewall of the tire. I ride in dry rocky conditions and have wore out at least 5 of these tires. The hold up well and last a long time with our chunking the side knobs. I do not ride on pavement except on short connectors to single track trails. It works good on wet rocks. MOST important is to keep the bike as vertical as possible on hard surfaces like road racers do. Lean your body into the corners first as much as possible then bring the bike down as needed.
