      SAFETY

Inspect and check tire pressure often. This is the most important tire-maintenance function you can perform. Refer to your machine's documentation for proper maintenance. Always give tires a gentle "run-in" period of 100 miles to get the feel of new tires--this means they should not be subjected to maximum power, abrupt lean-over, hard cornering, etc. Always match the front and rear tires for optimal handling, safety and performance. Mixing radials, or mixing radials with bias or belted-bias tires, may adversely affect handling and stability.

      WARNING

The charts and information on this page do not imply interchangeability. Consult your machine's manual to determine correct replacements, clearances, compatibility and stability, load-bearing capacity, speed rating, radial vs. non-radial, pattern and tread compound requirements, inflation recommendations and front-to-rear tire matching. Wrong selection can result in tire failure or loss of control with serious injury or death.

The Bridgestone Battle Wing Motorcycle Tire features a high grip compound and a profile that will enhance handling and contact feel. Produced for Adventure motorcycle applications, the Battle Wing tread is designed to also minimize road noise.
    • Bridgestone Battle Wing V-rated radial motorcycle tire is designed for Adventure motorcycle applications.
    • Front motorcycle tire features a high grip compound and new profile to enhance handling and contact feel.
    • Silica enriched compound on the rear motorcycle tire offers an exceptional level of grip on both wet and dry surfaces.
    • Mono-spiral belt construction on the rear motorcycle tire offers high-speed stability and excellent shock absorption.
    • Motorcycle tire tread is designed to minimize road noise.

    Great all around tire
I am impressed with the overall performance of this tire. A great value. Pretty quiet, 15000 mile life. With a 650 Vstrom on a 2000 mi trip thru the mountains (mostly paved) I averaged 55 mpg. I feel totally secure in wet conditions- very predictable. What’s not to like? (Oh, it sucks in sand, but you can’t have everything!) Would definitely buy this tire from Rocky Mountain again.

Great tires for road oriented dual sports
I bought my 2001 Aprilia Caponord with Battlewings on it. After I went through the first set of tires, I wanted to try something else.

I tried another brand (expensive German dual sport tires that were sooooo hard to get on the rim)

and those tires were much worse. They were louder at speed, they were a little squirmy in corners, and they wore faster.

yes the other tires had a slightly more aggressive tread but not overly.

After those got worn down I came back to the battlewings. Great tread life, great grip on the road, not terrible off road. I rode in snow on grass last night and they did fine riding around slowly.

I love the battlewings and will probably only use these tires with this bike for the rest of it's life.

    Mounted on Vstrom 1000
My second set of these. I am an aggressive rider and these tires are flat neutral on the Strom. Traction is phenomenal. I rode in Colorado last month and as happen, heavy rain. I was able to ride with confidence as I pushed them harder and harder. My last set I got about 7500 out of the rear. I replace in sets so no numbers on the front. I rode some jeep trails and dirt roads. They hooked up well and got very little front slip. I run 32 front and 34 rear. I like to get some heat into the tires. You will love these.

    Great tire
Great tire, but was sold as new in July 2017 with manufacturing date of 2015. Not a big deal, but no disclosure..
Ordered from Suzuki dealership the front tire.. 2016 order came with 2016 manufacturing date... Much better.

    BattleWing
Battle Wings have been a good cost effective tire for my DL650 and my S10. With two price increases lately, I may have to
    re think my choice.

4th tire in 25k miles - Great value Flawless Performance
I am about to fit my 4th rear tire this year with 24, 700 on my 2014 DL1000 V-Strom. So far I have bought 3 rear and 2 front Battlewings from Rocky Mountain because their price can't be beat. 1st rear tire lasted 8403 miles, 2nd was changed after 7,760 miles only because I was at my sons house in Portland Oregon which was halfway through a 13,500 mile road trip. I would have only got another 6 - 700 miles out of the tire which would have met changing it out on the road. Much easier to do it at my son's house. The 3rd rear tire now has over 8600 miles on it and will be replaced next week. I have driven 6,000 miles from Texas to Oregon through 110F heat in Needles Ca with 105 lbs of luggage for an overall weight (including me) of 900 lbs. Cruising speeds where cops were sparse were 85-90mph in 95F heat so 7760 miles was pretty good. I road on gravel for approx. 200 miles with no problems and managed to ride up a steep rough section that had been washed out the day before by heavy rain. Being fully loaded was worrying but the V-Strom motor and Battlewing tires worked perfectly together. I was very impressed,,,,and relieved. In New Mexico I was cruising at 85mph on good asphalt that suddenly disappeared as I crested a rise to find only a gravel road ahead. With NO warning! A heart-stopping experience for sure but the bike never even wiggled front or rear. I have not had one "moment" with these tires even on leaf covered roads in torrential rain on the east coast last fall. These tires have covered the Tail of the Dragon in N. Carolina, Twisted Sisters in the Texas Hill Country, Million Dollar Highway in Colorado, Lolo Pass in Idaho-Montana, The Road to the Sun in Glacier National Park, the Canadian Rockies, Beartooth Pass and Chief Joseph Pass in Montana - Wyoming and 5 National Parks in Utah without missing a beat. As for the front tire I have had no cupping whatsoever and look to get 10,000+ miles out of the current tire. These tires might not have the rugged knobbly off road look some Dual Sport riders crave as they are more road biased but lets be honest guys how many of you really take your 1000++ cc bikes that weigh over 500lb with NO luggage off road other than on relatively easy gravel roads which most cars or SUV's could travel on?

    Great tire-great price
I find the battlewings to be a much better tire then the trailwings. Longer wearing, better feel while leaned over and cost the same.

    Great tires
Much better then the trail wings. Grip better in a lean and I get 1000-1200 more miles out of the rear.

    Good tire for asphalt.
This is a good tire if you stay mostly on on road.

Does the BW502G size 150/70R-17 require a tube?
    A shopper on Apr 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It really depends on the wheels on your bike. Check your owner's manual to see if your wheels require tubes. I run this tire tubless on my Yamaha Super Tenere. It is the original equipment tire.
can i put a tube inside a tubeless tire ?
