Inspect and check tire pressure often. This is the most important tire-maintenance function you can perform. Refer to your machine's documentation for proper maintenance. Always give tires a gentle "run-in" period of 100 miles to get the feel of new tires--this means they should not be subjected to maximum power, abrupt lean-over, hard cornering, etc. Always match the front and rear tires for optimal handling, safety and performance. Mixing radials, or mixing radials with bias or belted-bias tires, may adversely affect handling and stability.

The charts and information on this page do not imply interchangeability. Consult your machine's manual to determine correct replacements, clearances, compatibility and stability, load-bearing capacity, speed rating, radial vs. non-radial, pattern and tread compound requirements, inflation recommendations and front-to-rear tire matching. Wrong selection can result in tire failure or loss of control with serious injury or death.

This is a cruiser tire with some performance built right into it. The Avon Cobra AV72 Rear Motorcycle Tire features a sport influenced tread pattern that is comfortable and quiet in the straight line and yet more than capable in the corners. Great tire for touring bikes as well, the Cobra makes for an excellent balance of mileage and riding enjoyment.
  • Avon Cobra AV72 motorcycle tires are aimed at the power cruiser/custom market.
  • Incorporates sports motorcycle tire technology for nimble handling.
  • Special Avon motorcycle tire construction to deal with heavy loads.
  • Incredible stability and longevity – perfect for motorcycle touring.
  • Unique ‘snakeskin-effect’ sidewall and aggressive motorcycle tire tread pattern.
  • Extra wide motorcycle tire sizes for custom motorcycles.

An Improvement Over Stock

Comments On Mar 23, 2015:My previous tire was a Dunlop 240/40; the Avon 250 fits with no problems, looks better and handles better. The only question at this point is the durability. I have a friend who has been running this tire on his 2009 Muscle and he has had better durability with this than stock, so I expect similar results.

Crazy Lean Angels Found Here

Comments On Dec 17, 2014:I'm getting ready to install my 3rd set of Venom's on my GL1800. If you want the best grip and handling in wet or dry these tires are the bomb. I ride aggressively in the twisties and fast and have no complaints at all. For tire life, I see 7 to 10k on the rear and about 15k on the front before replacement is needed. Tire pressure is always set to 41 PSI and checked routinely. These hoops are silent when corning and allow you to flick the big girl in transition corners like no other. If your concern is strictly long mileage....go elsewhere.

Hydro planes so bad, didn't last.

Comments On Jul 25, 2014:I bought this tire because it was suppose to get more milage than Dunlop... it didn't and it hydro planed in the rain so bad that even at 40MPH I was still feeling the bike slide around. Too scary for me!

Tires perform throughout their life.

Comments On Jun 11, 2012:Reading testiments on a Kawasaki forum last year I decided to put the Cobras on my Vulcan 2000. First of all you must understand that the Vulcan 2000 is known for eating rear tires, usually within 6,000-8,000 miles. I installed the Cobra and it has given me 12,000 very satisfied miles. Right off the bat I was impressed with how the bike cornered in comparison to the Bridgestones that were on it. After 12,000 I am close to the wear indicator and still cornering amazingly. What's really nice about the Cobras is that they don't wonder with a grooved road. With all of the road construction going on currently it nice to select my own path instead off being thrown where ever the road pitches me.
