It's timing the hours as an hour meter should be. I just wish it could come with a bracket to mount on to the fuel tank bolt, but i used zip ties and works great.
The two I recently purchased have not been installed yet, but I purchased 2 of these before for my son and my old race bikes, and they worked flawlessly, and I have no reason to believe any different now. Both bikes race motocross and can take some pretty hard landings, but we've never had a failure.
Easy to install, works great, Love knowing the time on the Motor for maintenance, and it was great for not having to guess the ever important break in time!
The design of the hour meter is its downfall. The function is great, but the body is cheaply assembled. I used a 3m commercial velcro sticky pad to hold it onto the bike. The velco is still on the bike, but the backing of the meter separated from the body and the meter itself fell off while riding.
If you use the bolt holes, I'm sure it's fine, but what bike has bolt holes in this pattern where the meter fits just right?
Bottom line, if you plan on using adhesive to keep the meter on the bike, find another meter.
I've used several of these over the years and they've all been 100% reliable. Got one on a KX100 and KX250F right now. I just wish they were $10 cheaper.
This hour meter works Flawlessly, it takes all the guess work out of maintaining your bike/ATV. Simple to install and comes with good directions for 4 aswell as 2 stroke engines. Easy to read, comes with plenty of wire and small enough to tuck any where you want.
Hardline hour meters are the real deal for a fraction of the price. I have one on my KX250 and YZ125 and they've taken some abuse and are still ticking. If you want to keep track of maintenance and not waste a ton of money on a crazy name brand, you can't beat the Hardline meters. Also very easy to install. One suggestion would be to apply another layer of 3M double-sided tape. Due to the curved nature of the back and where you're placing it, the tape included may not be enough.
I've run this hour meter for as many as 6 years on different bikes and it works the same as the day I purchased it. This is the only way to keep track of hours for maintenance. I put one on every bike before the first time that I ride it.
These Hardline Hour meters are excellent. They are extremely easy to install, just wrap the wire around the spark plug wire, route it through the groove on the hour meter, and secure the meter to a safe spot on your frame with the double sided tape and a couple of zip ties. There is no need to drill any holes or do any more elaborate mounting. I've had these meters on my last 4 bikes and the meters have held up for as long as I owned the bike; the last one had over 180 hours on it when I sold it and I bet it is still working just fine today. If you are looking for an easy means of monitoring maintenance intervals on your bike, this is the way to go.
Hour meter tells you when its time for maintenance
I have put one of thes on all my toys. Gives an accurate reading and makes sure I get that maintenance done when its needed. I just keep a log of what maintenance was done at what hour reading and track it from there. Pretty simple to install and have used them for over 4 years with no problems.

BEST ANSWER:My name is g,w, and we run the hardline hour hour meter on all of our machines, practice and race. We use a thin peice of metal like banding material drill holes and mount to the two lower clamp bolts for the handlebars on the single tree. One bike i purchased had two sided tape mounted to the right side of frame above radiator. As far as a bracket i have seen one due to all of the differnt type of bars and make of machines. Hope this will help you. Gw

Woaks connection makes a mount also it should come with the hard wear to screwit directly to the frame or you can use 3M double sided tape the double sided tape that comes with them does not last trash it and get the rubber like double sided tape if you want to go that option that's normally how I do it
There is no mount. The meter comes with a double sided sticky foam 3m pad to stick meter in place, two small screws to put through the holes to mount into plastic, or I have mounted one on atv frame steel tube using zip ties. All three ways work well I have done all three with no issues. Good luck!
Yes,..Hardline Hour Meter Gas Tank Mount Bracket HRMM-3 and this- Hardline Products HRMM-2 Hour Meter Mount for Re-Settable Hour Meter ... I use small screws and lock nuts , or just their 2 sided tape ( as long as its fresh no issues yet) ..
I used a zip tie to attach mine to the frame and that has worked well. I first tried double sided adhesive tape and that didn't work for long. I got the idea from somewhere that it wasn't a good idea to be drilling holes in the aluminum frame.
No mount available that I know of. Mount could easily be made if your needing a mount. I used 2 self drilling screws and put the meter right on the neck frame on my KTM. Looks great and works great . A must have product ..
Works Connection makes one that you can mount to a CRF upper gas tank bolt. You could probably mount to other make/models. KTM also makes one that mounts to the triple clamps, but it would probably only work on that specific brand.
I used the double sided tape that came with it and it held up through mud, rain and tons of power washes. Plus I didn't have to drill any holes in my bike.
It does not come with a mount but I mounted mine on a three inch piece of one inch pvc plastic pipe which I secured to the bike between the handle bars
It does not come with a bracket. There are mounting holes and screws provided. I mounted mine on me kodiak quad using a piece of black 1" pic pipe about 3" in length. I mounted the hour meter on the pipe and secured the pipe to the plastic center piece between the handlebars
I do not use a mounting bracket, I tap the frame with a 6/32 tap and install on frame. If you dont have access to a drill and taps you will need a mounting bracket.
Is there a battery that needs to be changed ? Mine just keeps blinking says clean air filter change oil that's all been done does not stop blinking

BEST ANSWER:I can't answer this question for you... however, I think there MAY be an issue with the meter. Call/contact customer service/warranty. They've always treated me well.

Works Connection Tach/Hour Meter with Resettable Maintenance Timer Mounting Bracket
BEST ANSWER:I don't know for sure. I would say no.
If you are willing to gamble on it, Rocky Mountain has really easy returns. Then again, the return shipping may be as much as the part...
If it was my bike, and I wanted to mount my hour meter with the bracket. I would spend a little extra money for the Works Connection Hour meter, that the mount was designed to be used with.
