Great vest, could use a few tweeks

Comments On Jan 26, 2016:Transitioning from a camelback bladder setup combined with a Klim waist/hip tool pack for trail riding.
This fits well over the top of a Leatt Fusion chest/neck combo.
Fit and finish look real good, it holds weight very well, and there is no bouncing around. Air flow is less than with no vest, but over the chest protector adds some air flow underneath. No idea how it would be without the chest protector below, though I would have concerns about tools bruising my body in an impact.
This holds way more than needed, and can easily be overloaded if you are not careful. The good news is that it rides will with weight, and isn't bulky/flappy without being filled up. It can easily be scaled up or down for the trip.
The looks is a bit tactical which gets questions from some. I think it looks fine, but others may not. Someone asked me if I was going to ride to the top of a mountain and parachute off. Probably the strangest comment thus far. I'm a form follows function sort of guy, and looks are secondary.
It has no issues working around my neck brace, and being fully comfortable in the whoops, etc. Feels like part of your body even loaded up.
    Things that could use improvement:
The bladder is food grade, and was rinsed. It still tasted funny on the first ride. After that the first mouthful of water has the funny taste, followed by normal water. I suspect the odd taste is coming from the hose, not the bladder. I have not had this issue with other brands of bladder/hose.
None of the pockets have a redundant zipper. Too many times I have had friends loose keys/phones/etc. on a ride when a zipper did not stay closed. This has not happened thus far, but I would like to see at least a key loop in one of the pockets so that you could ensure your keys are not lost should a zip come open or be accidentally left open. It would cost all of $0.10 to implement at the scale Ogio is operating at.
I'd buy it again in a heartbeat. It presents a better value than the Troy Lee Designs one, and the quality seems top notch.

good vest hydro pack tastes horrible

Comments On Oct 04, 2015:great vest- my buddies call it the swat vest, cool pockets very functional, but the hydro pack has a horrible taste, washed it a dozen times ran tons of water through it it, the final time i used it i still felt sick after a few cups just because of the chemical taste in the water. I still use the pack and think its great just throw a water bottle in the back part that the water pack used to be in, should put a decent hydro pack in it and i would give it a 5

    Comfortable

Comments On Jul 26, 2015:This vest has TONS of storage with individual pockets within pockets. Zippers appear high quality and the vest as a whole is durable.

    Best Ever!

Comments On May 15, 2014:I've had my flight vest for 6 yrs now. It carries everything you could want, and is comfortable as can be...... On several long distance rides (~500 miles) it was the savior of the ride. It carries tire irons, food, hydration pack, tools; just about anything you want. It also serves as a nice shock absorber if you have an accidental dismount. I love the vest, and am buying one for my son who is now riding with me.

    Balanced and functional

Comments On Jan 02, 2014:I have worn a fanny pack tool belt for many years. As an enduro racer I just carried minimal basic tools not too heavy. Now as a trail and dual sport rider I carry a lot more. I had the MSR Baja pack with side bag and it got to weighing well over 20lbs. I had to keep it really tight squeezing my guts to avoid the fanny pack from sliding down,
I like the Ogio vest as my most frequently used tools or whatever are right there in front, no need to remove the vest. I had to remove the fanny pack to do anything including taking a leak, haha.
With pockets front and rear I am able to balance the weight unlike a regular back pakc and give the pack a neutral feel, it does not move around. 70oz water bladder is good.
One thing I realized on the first cool ride was my jacket was too tight to wear over the pack. Moving jacket under the vest makes things a bit too warm. So still figuring out the best set up for cold weather. I dinged off one star as there should be tie down rings on the back to secure a jacket or other clothing. No pocket is big enough to hold full size jacket. Overall I really like this vest

    Great Idea, could be refined.

Comments On Oct 27, 2013:The vest is a solid idea and it works pretty well. I wish the vest was slightly less bulky and came with a 100 oz. bladder.

    Don't hesitate

Comments On Jan 02, 2013:On the last LAB2V, I rode 500 miles wearing this vest packed with tools and emergency supplies. Despite being completely overloaded, it was still very comfortable and I barely noticed it. The bladder is a bit on the small side and the bite valve isn't the best out there, but that's easily replaced. Also the pockets aren't reinforced so I suggest picking up some Husky 3-pack cordura pouches from Home Depot to put tools in before loading them into the vest.
Despite those negatives, this is 100x better than any of the several quality backpacks I've owned.

Additional Comments On Sep 27, 2013:Edit: After 9 months of using this vest I can honestly say that its the single best gear item I've ever purchased. I recently bought a 100oz Camelback reservoir and it fits the vest without modification. Other than that modification and keeping my tools in the previously mentioned pouches, I've made no other changes. The vest is in just as good of shape as the day I bought it, albeit a bit dirtier. I just leave it packed with tools and emergency supplies so when I go riding its just a matter of putting the bladder in, checking the batteries on my Spot, and tossing it in the truck. Fits great over my Leatt chest protector which also increases the ventilation and really helps you to forget you're wearing the vest.

    Mechanised Donkey

Comments On Sep 07, 2013:I have used this vest for dual sport and adventure riding. Great to carry tools, tubes and water. Adventure riding: is great for the quick access items like rain gear, visor rags and extra gloves.

    Can't ride without it

Comments On Mar 30, 2013:Saw some buddies wearing this vest in Moab and I decided to pick one up. Hands down a far superior option to a camelback and fanny pack for food, tools and hydration. The only downside is that the vest has so many pockets I have to watch myself from making it to heavy.
