Great Cam- runs great.
Had on of the intake lobes show some wear on the stocker. Decided to go with a Stage 1 replacement. She has a lot more power than I remember. Runs like a beast. But the decompressor does not seem to be working correctly. I do not think it is the cam. Will check it after we recheck the valve lash. Spring could be weak or the decompressor worn.

Hot Cam
Installed and performed like advertised. I purchased a shim kit at the same and would recommend you do the same if you want to finish the install immediately.

Good cam
The cam definitely helps stock and smaller overbore bore modifications. Changed gearing before my rebuild and lost some of my available torque. With this cam all my torque and low to mid range is over adequate now. The front end on my 400 ex feels like a jet trying to lift. Really recommend it for Cross country racing as it is considered a drop in cam.

Haven't run it yet but...
I had to do a little grinding on the rocker arm but hotcams will let you know in the instructions if you need to modify anything. The instructions were straight forward (as this was my first time messing with a cam) and the whole process was pretty painless. We'll see how it runs! BRAAAAAAAAAAP

Hot Cams
Rebuilt top end and threw in some Hot Cams while at it. Runs like a champ, but maybe next time go to a Stage 2 instead.....more power!

Good Horsepower to Cost
I do a lot of dual sport type riding, some of it technical OHV type trails but a lot is rugged ugly forest roads. So that is the reason I didn't go with a Stage 2. Stage 1 I could feel a little drop off the bottom end but mid RPM and up really came to life. If I did all supermoto or faster type desert riding the Stage 2 would be the way to go for sure. But for dual sport woods riding the Stage 1 is pretty sweet. And for the money its super easy to install and get power without adjusting much of anything.

Hot Cams Camshaft (Stage 1)
This cam on a 300ex makes a little more on the top end that is almost unnoticable. This cam is not worth the money it costs plus the tear down, installation, and reassembly.

Worked as expected
Went in fine. Worked fine. I can't say that I noticed any difference in performance or not. But if anything it was better than stock.

Does this come with the cam sprocket?
Jacob T on Nov 22, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The cam itself is designed to use stock cam sprocket on some models. easiest way to figure out if it comes with what your looking for is to check if your stock gear is pressed onto the shaft itself or if its removable. Also call rocky mountain or the manufacture and tell them your specific make and model the should be able to get you the info you need.
