Details

The RK 520XSO RX Ring Chain continues RK’s tradition of quality, coming pre-stretched, shot peened, and heat-treated just like all chains from RK. The 520XSO distinguishes itself by having an 8,500 pound tensile strength that makes it perfect for street applications up to 750cc in displacement. RK has also fitted the 520XSO with their unique RX sealing ring that gives the links and rollers two pools of lubrication to draw from and two sealing points to keep the chain lube in and abrasive buildup out. All this makes for a high performance chain that stands up to incredible stress while still remaining a great value.

    Specs:
  • Sealed RX-ring design
  • Includes rivet style master link
  • For street and off-road applications
  • RX-Ring seals
  • Rated for street use up to 750cc
  • 8,500 pound tensile strength
  • Pre-stretched, shot peened, and heat-treated

Comes with Riviting Master Link
The RK 520SXO chain came on my RMX250 (dirt-bike) when I bought it, and that chain has performed quite well for a couple years. So I ordered another one from Rocky Mountain to put on my XL600 (dual-sport).

In the description there is no mention of the master-link type, so I never thought of it. You can imagine my surprise when I had the bike on the stand, new sprockets installed, link removed, and then tore open the opaque (white grease covered) master-link baggie, only to find that it was a riveting-type not a clip-type master-link. And I had a ride planned for the following day. Uugh! Where was I gonna get a master-link at 1am? Well, with a little thought it turns out I had a spare for my RMX250, so I used it.

OR
Garbage chain!
This chain lasted less than 3 rides and broke. I had it less than 30 days. I will never buy that brand again.

Do I need to also purchase a master link?
A shopper on Mar 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, chains always come with one master link. I usually buy an extra one with each chain purchase in case I mess it up putting it on. It's also a good idea to have a spare. I lost a master link on a trail ride once and wished I'd have had one back at the truck.
This chain comes with a rivet master link but the drop down option for a spare master link has a picture of a clip type. Is the spare link option for a clip type master link?
JOHN B on Aug 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. I bought a clip link off of the drop menu.
