Using a thick, billet design and robust mounting points, the Bullet Proof Designs GEN 2 Radiator Guards provide durable and stylish protection to your radiators. Bullet Proof Designs does it by, first, machining their Gen 2 Guards from a solid piece of billet t-6 aluminum, ensuring the highest standard of strength possible while still retaining a light weight.
They then fit the guards to each model of bike so they provide coverage to each radiator’s lower bowl, don’t interfere with fan kits, and securely attach to your bike frame for the most support possible. These design choices mean you get sturdy protection on both the front and sides while still having airflow that is essentially uninhibited.
Specs:
All new lower bowl protection and ribbed design for more strength
Ideal for the harshest trails and most demanding enduro riding
Now pre-drilled so can add an O-ring kit to hold shrouds
Machined from solid 6061-T6 billet aluminum for superior strength
Does not adversely affect cooling or restrict air flow
Mounts to frame to provide frontal and side impact protection
Lightweight aluminum alloy construction
Does not interfere with fan kits
Lifetime original owner warranty
Tested by top enduro, hare scramble, and desert rider all over the world
I have used many guards in the past and you get what you pay for. These are beefy but not weighty. Simple easy install and will take a beating. One less thing to worry about in tip over
I'll feel a lot better now if I drop my bike out on the trail, these look like they will provide great protection for the radiators. Be careful not to cross thread the bolts during installation though.
Looks good, adds protection and still performs as needed. It only moved the shrouds out a 1/4" from original placement. I do wish for the money that you also got the rubber strap option. I did see that was available at the time.
Nice and solid. Had a small dent right out of shrink wrap. Had to run a tap through one of the holes just to get screw in... Good thing I had the right metric tap. For this kind of money I expected better. Let's hope they save me in the long run.
Bulletproof? Definitely tree branch, bramble, bush, stick, and rock proof. These fit like a glove and still maintain factory shroud position and attachment.
Installment required bending the radiator tabs slightly but overall they were easy to install and add a lot of protection from both frontal and side impacts.
I’m going to say these are probably unnecessary on the new ktms since the stock rad guards are actually pretty beefy, but having destroyed a rad or 2 on my older bikes I wanted them for piece of mind. Always easier to protect than to replace.
Excellent product that protects radiators from damage do to falls, strikes, etc. Anodizing (orange) was excellent and the guards felt solid with superb CNC manufacturing. They were also very easy to install with all attachment bolt holes lining up perfectly. At first I thought the pricing was a little on the high side until I received them and realized that the quality was superb. I would definitely recommend this product without reservation and have yet to find anything it's equal on the market. Thanks
I did agonizing research before pulling the trigger on these guards. They're probably the most expensive option (for my bike, at least) but they also seem to provide the best protection with the least intrusive design, also. Installation was an absolute breeze, and these things once installed do make the radiators seem, well, bullet proof. I love the look of the blue, too.
The best! Worth the money. Have some Moose/EE braces on my 250XCF and these are much stronger and provide good front impact protection and ventilation as well.
I ride real technical tight stuff, have short legs and drop my bike all day long. These are the only radiator guards that work. I've tried them all and these ROCK!!!!!!!
I was hesitant spending this much on rad guards but they are absolutely worth it! They look awesome, install was easy, and they are solid for front and side crashes.
The name says it all. High quality construction. Fit is perfect and tight. Super secure and covers the radiators in all the right places. Put these on your bike and crash with confidence.
Beautiful CNC-ing, made in the USA, look awesome. But, they would not fit on my 2017 300xc. Yes, i am an amateur mechanic, but my shop could not install either. RM ATV, great, of course, in trying to assist but they would not work. Super disappointing for a premium product, esp since i stripped a frame mounted nut trying to install! Got Trail Tech guards. They're not CNC'd, and they're not made in the USA, but they bolted up with 0 issues.
These are absolutely 100% worth the price. I have them on my 2017 ktm xc250. My bike is gone down pretty hard in large rocks twice now on the right side with no damage to the radiators or the guards. Without these guards I'm sure I would have destroyed the right side radiator. So considering the cost of a new radiator these things have already paid for themselves. I have had no problems with him fitting with either the stock pipe or an FMF fatty. I did read an earlier review where somebody say they pounded a dent in the left side of their pipe to make these fit I do not recommend that. Small dings in the large portion of your expansion chamber on the right-hand side of the bike do not make a big sacrifices to your power band. Dents on the small portion of your pipe in front of the head and on the left side will negatively affect the power output of your bike. You may not notice it but they do rob power and negativity affect the overall power delivery. These gaurds are very beefy but not really that heavy. Dint hesitate to add this extra weight to your bike if you ride Hard enduro, singletrack, desert, etc.
I had a set of these for several years and never damaged a radiator and used the same guards on a number of KTM/Husaberg models. My 2017 is the first bike I crashed with these guards on that I managed to crush the radiator. It wasn't a high speed get off but a bad place to drop the bike. So maybe just bad luck. If I had written this review before this crash it would have been a 5 all around. I did have to straighten out the guard as well as repair the radiator and plastic this get off.
Strong and durable and good looking, saved my Rads every time the bike falls. On the Husky TX 300 they will put a small dent in your pipe if the bike falls on the pipe but once the little fitment dent is made no issues. -m-2017 HUSQVARNA TX 300--
These guards are amazing. They fit my '16 KTM XC-F perfectly, even with a previously bent right radiator. I installed them on a Friday before riding on a 2 day trip with a lot of tight single track with tall pine trees and sharp rocks. I managed to smash the radiator directly into a tree and the radiator guards and bark busters took a direct impact. The 2 bolts that attach to the frame were completely bent but the guards were perfect, not even scratched. I dumped the bike in the rocks several times and the guards held up perfectly.
Worth the money over the less expensive guards. Lifetime Warranty and Made in the USA. They look amazing and the shrouds bolt right back on like the factory plastic ones do. Very rigid and great protection.
Excellent protection. Looks killer. The lower bowl part interferes with the pipe on some TE and XCW models. Guard must be cut to clear. Called bulletproof designs and they told me to cut it to fit. Other than that it's awesome!
Had to bend part of the muffler in so it would fit
It seems that on the 17 KTM 300's the muffler is in the way on the left side. Instead of cutting the radiator guard I just hammered a dent in my pipe. Its stock and not like I don't have some dings in it already, after that I was able to get it to fit. Another thing I don't like is they are a bit wider than the stock so it makes my bike wider. For the amount of money they should fit better, but the protection seems pretty good.
Nice product, has to do some modification on my TE300 to gain clearance to the pipe. Would like to see more closed in to protect rads from small debris.
I've install BPD radiator guards on 4 KTMs over the last 5 years. I have never been able to bend one, but the have kept my radiators from damage many times. I would also rate their customer service right up top with the best, based on long experience with many companies.
I have a 2017 KTM 300 XC-W. The fit was off. I had to grind the corner of the right side. Otherwise the guard would have rubbed against the pipe. Also, on both sides you could see how it should have fit, but it was off slightly. I spent a few hours working on it. They are on now, but I still don't think they fit how they should.
They look pretty solid, if you are using a pipe guard you are going to have to grind some of the right bottom radiator guard cover down about an inch as they wont fit with a pipe guard on.
Other than that they look very well made and my bike looks awesome.

Are the Gen2 a lot better then the Gen1? Looking at the reviews seems like some fitment issues. Looking for these for a 2018 TE300. Seems for $250 they should fit like a glove.
BEST ANSWER:Mine fit like a glove on a 2017 KTM450xcf... but after seeing how burly the stock guards are, I wish I wouldn't have wasted my money on these. They also plug with mud easier/worse than the stock louvers.

My friend has gen1, I bought gen 2, he said gen2 are better. I fitted the gen2 on a KTM 500 EXC-F , they fit like a glove. If you have any tweaks or bends in your radiators, you might have fitment issues. My bike was new when I put them on, and they fit perfect, no issues at all, these are very heavy duty guards.
I have Gen 2 on my 17 300 XCW Six Days and they went on with no problems. I had a 13 500 XCW previous to that with Gen 1 and you had to shim 1 bolt on each plastic shroud. It wasn’t a big deal! I absolutely love my Bulletproof Designs radiator guards. I wouldn’t ride with anything else!
I've had the both the Gen 1 and Gen 2 and (IMHO) these are worth it. Fit and protection is better and they are noticeably lighter. And remember: you can transfer these to your next bike too.
I have both Gen 1 and Gen 2 on numerous bikes, Beta, Husaberg, Husqvarna and KTM, and never had any problem with fitment. The units are very well built and have saved many races for me.
The ones I put on my 17 150xcw fit perfect, and yes, just like a tight glove. They work great. Let me tell you ...they are great protection for the rads.
BEST ANSWER:Yes, these mount on the air flow inlet side of the radiators and the fan kit mounts on the RH air flow outlet side of the radiator. No installation issues/problems or any modifications needed. Easy bolt on accessories that fit perfect. 2017 TX300, Craig.

These are very good craftsmanship and provides the rigidity to protect the radiators. Unfortunately I can not help you with you question concerning the trail tech accessory fan, I do not run a fan kit.
Not sure about the fan kit but my bike is street legal an has a horn and there are a few places to mount a horn or fan on the outside but not inside behind the guards. Hope this helps
