ball hone performance
Have used a lot of theses flex hones over the years for cylinders, master cylinders and they even have one for disc rotors. I purchased this one for a YZ250F cylinder which has a nikasil type coating but you can use a flex hone to break the glaze when reseating new rings. Really leaves a nice cross hatch finish quickly. very satisfied with this.

Good tool, but i think too aggressive for plating.
I'm rating this 5 stars because the product is great, BUT I think it's too much for plated cylinders, ive had good luck deglazing with green scotch bright and elbow grease in a bucket of soapy water. A lot of times you'll have piston material stuck to the cylinder and if you have trouble getting a good finish with the scotch bright your can try emory cloth removing material in a cross hatch type pattern. I think after that's been tried and there's still some cleaning that needs done then this tool is great but it is very agressive and i wouldn't go more than one pass down and up with it. On steel cylinders its great. Ive also been able to clean up damage from light cold seizures with it. This is just my opinion and whats worked for me over the years. I have a few of these in different sizes on hand and im usually running plated cylinders but rarely use them.

Is this okay to use on a 02 kx85?i just don’t want to destroy the material but the rings went and the cross hits are not there anymore.
Nicholas H on Nov 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Sure, it works fine on plated cylinders, don't over do it just until you see a cross hatch pattern. Be sure to wash the cylinder with hot soapy water, it removes the honing residue better than solvent. Check your bore with a clean paper towel if it comes out with any dark marks wash it again!
What size should I buy for a 1996 cr 125?

BEST ANSWER: The 52-54 mm hone is what you want.
Just wondering if this will work for my 2002 yz250 with an oversized 68.5mm piston? The description says good for 65 - 67mm. Thinking it should still work.
JOSHUA C on Mar 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Looking at the flex-hone chart, your next size up would be 70mm. Too big. We used the 64mm hone on a Yamaha RD350 with a standard 64mm bore. It was plenty snug. My guess is that you will have enough contact to do an even de-glazeing job on your YZ. We had no issue with the hone buggering up the chamfer on the ports: however, the direction of the hone was evident just by the crispness of the chamfer on the leading edge of the port. We would use this hone again. The ports appeared to have knocked off a lot of the initial abrasive on the hone, and this is normal.

Hi I noticed that these are silicon carbide flex hones, pretty well everything I've read about these so far has said that you should use aluminium oxide for nikasil plated cylinders and the company even promotes them specifically for ones nikasil plated. Obviously you guys wouldnt be selling something that wouldn't be good to use I'm just curious why you guys sell these ones over the other because I've read so much conflicting opinions on the matter and judging by the comments here these seem to have worked just fine for everyone who's bought one?
