FMF’s original Turbine Core Silencer is a time-proven design that gives performance, lighter weight, and spark arresting to your older and smaller displacement machines.
The Turbine Core has the same type of turbine spark dampening system as other silencers in the Turbine Core family, so now you’re small or old bike can ride on the same trails and forest land with USFS approval.
Your machine will also get updated looks and less weight thanks to the aluminum and stainless construction. But the canister is easily serviced too with the addition of easily removable hardware, so you won’t need to drill out anymore rivets just to repack.
I bought this for my daughter because she was complaining about her bike being too loud, and she didn't like that. The stock silencer is really darn loud, louder than all my other 2 strokes. So I put this FMF Turbine Core Silencer on and it really made a noticeable difference. I would have liked to compare the noise level between this, and the Pro Circuit Type 296, but how to do that without purchasing both? I picked the FMF because I like the quality better. The mounting stringer runs the full length of the can, adds strength, and looks way better? I would still like to find some comparison or "shoot-out" between the FMF Turbine Core (II), and the Pro Circuit Type 296 in regards to noise level...
Machine this part was bought for: 2007 KAWASAKI KX65
Spark arrestors are required where we race, so we own several of these on various bikes. The Turbinecore didn't seem to tax my son's 65 much and kept us legal. We did get a little spooge out of it, but I probably could have jetted it out. Wasn't enough to cause concern, bike ran perfect.
This is a quality FMF silencer! It does the perfect job of silencing the noise from my KX500. Also has the necessary spark arrestor for riding in the woods. If you want to be in compliance with Forest Service Regs, buy this part.
We have a 2006 with stock and turbine core mufflers - not much difference in overall sound level with the turbine core vs. stock - the real benefit is that the turbine core has fresh packing - which will make the turbine core sound much quitter - especially if you have any time on the stock exhaust packing.
