The Coyote Saddlebag is the bread and butter of Giant Loop’s luggage lineup, functioning as the smaller-capacity version of their crescent-shaped bags they became well known for. And in this newly designed version, you’re getting even better weather protection from a roll-top closure that’s more waterproof than the previous, zippered edition.

Though this is considered the "small" version of Giant Loop’s horseshoe saddlebags, the Coyote still boasts a full 39 liters of storage capacity and an opening (the arched portion between the two sides) that works perfectly with smaller dual-sport bikes—think of the CRF450X, Suzuki’s DRZ, or KTM’s EXC line. But with the versatile mounting strap system and the fact that the Coyote doesn’t need any kind of rack system, you’ll be able to find a solution that lets the bag fit on virtually any bike.

Looking at the bag itself, 22 ounce vinyl coated polyester makes up the body with ballistic nylon reinforcement overlays at both tips of the bag, preventing damage from rocks that may get kicked up off the trail.
Several lashing loops, compression straps, and a center-mounted cinch ring give you an array of locations to mount additional luggage. But regardless of how you decide to use it, the Coyote Roll-Top Saddlebag will give you complete waterproofing, a large amount of storage, and unrestricted movement while you’re in the saddle.

Nice bag
Nice bag for a solo camper. I spent 3 nights out of it in the desert on my ktm 500 exc. ZTop opens big enough for anything I used. Roll top is nice becasue you can just roll it up more if not using all the space.

Is it waterproof? Yes, with the bags.

Metal straps buckles would make this perfect.

Nice quality but hated it
Unless you can stay very well organized and enjoy taking extra time to re-pack things along your trip, I wouldn't recommend. I bought this for a 3 day off road camping ride. The opening is tapered down too small IMO making it hard to see and get stuff in and out of the bag. If you plan on throwing stuff in the bag without using the provided dry bags, everything ALWAYS falls down into one of the deep abyss sides of the bag making it very frustraing trying to find things. Another thing I noticed is that it does come down pretty low and far forward (good for weight distribution) but I caught my foot between the bag and rocks or bushes a few times while going through more technical sections.
On the positive side, it is very nice quality and construction.
I plan on selling it and buying somthing else.

NOT WATERPROOF
only the dry bags that you stuff inside the shell are waterproof.Giant Loop claims they have some sort of drain on each leg. Well why was there 6 inches of water in each leg after riding in the rain. wish I could get my money back

It worked, but gonna try something else
I bought this bag for a CDT ride. After 2800 miles with this on the back of my KTM EXC-F 350, I am going to try something else. I really like idea of a U shaped bag, but the execution didn't live up to my expectations.

Dislikes:

-I like the roll top, but the fact that it isn't waterproof is kind of silly.

-The throat of the bag narrows towards the top which made loading it kind of difficult.

-They used some super thick ballistic nylon mounting straps which make it SUPER difficult to get the back mounted tightly to the bike. I ended up ripping one of the straps off after brushing up against a log a slow speeds. I don't think this would have happened if I could have gotten it tighter.

-They used plastic hardware instead of metal. Every time I had to strap the bag down I felt like I was going to break them.

-I used the strap instead of the clips to hold it on to the rear fender...the strap snapped in half. I had to use the straps that hook into the center ring to hold it on to the fender.

Likes:

-Roll top design (but see above).

-It comes with dry bags that have vents to allow air to escape. They worked great.

-Does not need a rack.

-Does not interfere with riding even when doing some difficult single track.

-Holds quite a bit. For a 10 day trip, I had spares, camping gear, food, and clothes in the bag.

Final thoughts:

If Giant Loop made this bag waterproof, used metal cam locks with more flexible nylon straps and widened the throat a little, this might be the perfect bag for enduro type bike without racks and beefy subframes.
