the first one we bought last about 2 months. around 40 hours of ride time. the spline stripped out. the second one we purchased stripped the bolt. we used thread grease, got a half a day at field of dreams, and it cut our day short. we only purchased it because of the plus size for our bike. my 14 yr old son wears a sz 12 boot, despite being 5'6"

    Worked for me
I have had this shifter on for 2 rides now, approximately 5hrs of trail riding. This lever is much better than my stock one that was stripped out and too small for my boots. It has been good to me so far despite all the comments saying it will strip.

The Hammerhead “Forged” Shifter Lever (11-0768) does not have tapered splines,.. like the OEM Shifter does.
When installed it only allows for 50-60% of the splines to make contact (doesn’t go all the way on). This would differently led to spline failure in a few hours of hard use.

I will be returning this Shifter and trying out a Pro Circuit Shifter.

    Nice ornament
Well for the hour that it was on my bike, it looked good and functioned well. The extended length was nice too.

At the end of that hour, the splines had totally stripped out and the shifter was just hanging. Hammerhead's warranty states they don't cover spline damage. Nice of them to stand behind their product.

Maybe the billet one is better. Not sure ill bother finding out.

    Works but stripped out
This worked good and looks to be more durable than cheaper tusk version but stripped out after only 30 hrs of use. Replaced with superior Hammerhead version and ensured was tight.

Maybe should have gotten the +20mm length instead of +10mm
I have used Hammerhead shifters in the past, great quality product.

I wear a size 11 Gaerne SG12 boot and I was constantly hunting for the stock shifter. I bought the +10mm Hammerhead and went racing(Picacho creek Hare Scrambles in Ca).
The length was much better than stock but I still had some ghost shifts. Probably will probably buy the +20mm and try it out too.

Only shifter to buy if you have big feet or like to find the shifter with more ease. Great quality and looks great on the bike. Size options make it easy to dial in your bike specifically for you.

After one ride, its it's working as designed.
I wear a size 12 boot and needed a longer shifter. Works great and while the Blue isn't Yamaha Blue is does March the nut on the rear shock.

what is the difference between the forged lever and billet lever?
    Dylan L on Nov 5, 2017
Hammerhead Forged Shift Lever with Knurled Tip
Hammerhead Forged Shift Lever with Knurled Tip
Hammerhead Billet Shift Lever with Knurled Tip
Hammerhead Billet Shift Lever with Knurled Tip
BEST ANSWER: Forged components are hammered into shape while the material is hot. Billet components are cut from stock materials and generally have a more pleasing shape and finish. Because of the greater time and effort of CNC machining, billet products are more expensive. Forged vs. billet, in aluminum components, probably doesn't make a lot of difference in strength. Some folks say forged items are stronger; some say that billet components are. However, in drag racing, where performance really counts with very high $$$$ engines, everybody runs billet crankshafts. I'm sure that you won't see a big difference in a simple shift lever.
What is the plus 10mm and plus 20mm in the size selection in reference to?
    Andrew J on May 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The OEM shift lever does not offer any options to make the lever longer (further from the footpeg) but the patented line of Hammerhead Shift Tips gives the rider multiple options and an easy to read sizing chart based on boot size. The +10mm puts the tip of the shifter 10mm further away from the footpeg, giving the rider about 1/2 inch more room. The +20 gives almost a full 1" extra room. For riders with bigger boots or who prefer to have more room to get to the shifter comfortably these are awesome.
does this shifter come with the bolt to secure it, or does that need to be ordered separately?
    Matthew H on Feb 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: YES, just as you can see in the photo, the pinch pin comes with this lever. For KTM and Husky there is a different type of screw that is not supplied (it's not supplied with OEM either...). Hammerhead offers a special hardened screw as an option for $6.99.
what the diferences in sizes and it has three green color ways with the same pic? going on a 2005 kx125
    Brandon S on Apr 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I think, and please don't quote me; they should be close to your stock shifter, and the color is preference on bike color. I would actually spend the extra money on at different shifter. Didn't last a full season for us.
    will these fit a ktm 2014 250 exc-f six days ?
    Diego G on Jan 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It will. I ride a 2010 KTM530 EXC Champions Edition. The mounts should be nearly identical. I love this shifter. The orange is great, the knurled tip is thick and well made, and the black anodized has held up. It will be a long time before I have to replace this part, unless I do something stupid

So i have a size 12 boot and a stock lever what would be the option for me the +10 or +20?
    Devin E on Aug 31, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Depends on the bike. I wear size 12 and I had a +20 on my YZ450. Same size didn't work on my KTM450. I bought a Tusk +10 for it.
