    Safety wire hole
Put this on your KTM and use the safety wire hole before your shifter falls off.

    Better than stock. Fast shipping
Had to buy a new shift lever bolt after mine sheared off. Very strong screw with a smaller profile than the stock bolt. Comparable price but much faster shipping than the lbs.

    Hammerhead KTM shifter bolt
Installed and rode one time. went to make a shifter adjustment and when tightening down I barely torqued it and it broke. Now I have to drill/dig it out. Thought this would be better than OEM, I was wrong.

Believe the reviews. The bolt WILL snap off
I bought this bolt even after reading the reviews of it snapping off, thinking they were over tightening the it. After installing with "locktight" and tightening to spec, all was good until I was less than a mile into a tight trail....Thanfully I found my shift lever in the mud. Being a hardened 6mm bolt makes it very challenging drilling it out to extract it without ruining the treads. Rocky Mountain ATV/MC needs to read their product reviews so they can take products like this off their site. Don't waste your money, it will be much more costly when the bolt snaps off!

Manufacturer defect. Out of square (bent shank)
Ordered 3 from Rocky Mountain and subsequently contacted Hammerhead who shipped me 3 more. All 6 would bind slightly when threading in and would not seat properly. Found run out of head and shank to be out of square (bent shank). No problem with returns. Use caution, mfg defect. Have Hammerhead shift & Bake lvrs, no problem.

Head Broke off at OEM torque value
simple bolt replacement however i have a NM wrench when i put it to factory spec, the head broke off. Waste of money for sure. just use the oem bolt. And if it matters that much that its black, paint the head of your OEM bolt.

Sheared off inside of shifter shaft
Terrible experience for me. I torqued this to spec (7.4 ft/lbs) on a 2014 KTM 300. Ride it around the block and came back to the garage to recheck tension and the bolt head sheared off. I spent the night going to the hardware store and spending around $25 to get the tools necessary to extract the bolt from the shift shaft instead of riding. Don't water your money on this!!!!

My 2016 KTM 250xc has always had an issue with the shifter bolt vibration loose. Happened to me during a hare scramble, ordered this, safety wired it to the shifter itself, no longer an issue.

    total failure
the bolt, after about 10 service hours snapped out in the middle of no where. It broke off just inside the face of the shift shaft.I upgraded to this after others were losing their stock bolt, which I never had any problems with.I now have to try to drill out the broken bolt after getting better bits today, that will hopefully drill into this bolt. We shall see

Does this integrated washer alleviate the need for the stock 2 piece lock washer, or any lock washer?
(09 KTM 300 XC, always blue locktite)
    Robert D on Jun 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, but you should use blue loctite to make sure it stays tight. Also, be aware, there were quite a few of these that were poor quality and they broke before even the first ride, even though they were torqued to spec. Mine failed, so I ended up going to the hardware store and picking up a stainless bolt and washer.
What did you guys use to drill it out mine snapped off at the beginning of second ride?
    A shopper on Aug 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Sorry I don’t have a good answer for you. Hammerhead levers are good but these bolts are a joke. Mine came loose so replaced with the longest bolt I could find to use all the threads, then used lock tight. My friend sent 5 back before he got one that was straight. Take your time, lay bike on the side and use a good strong sharp bit to drill it out. May have to tap it out to a bigger size. Good luck.
What is the torque spec on this KTM 950 SE shifter bolt?
    A shopper on Feb 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: On my 2018 KTM 450 EXC-F the torque value is 14Nm or 10.3 lb ft. I got this torque value from my owners manual. It also recommends to use loctite. I usually use blue loctite on most of my bolts.
