Magura Hydraulic HYMEC Clutch

Very smooth and light when compared to stock mechanical clutch on KTM 790 Adv R. Not the cheapest but worth it depending on your riding style. Also, RMATV discounted at purchase and later gave me a credit when the price dropped, that was a nice bonus!

80 mile Hare n' Hounds are soooo much better now that I can use the clutch.

Imagine being tired from 60 miles of grueling desert and pulling up to a nasty, rocky hillclimb. You go to pull the clutch in and nothing happens because you have no strength left to squeeze that old clutch cable. The bike stalls. Three of your buddies pass you, laughing. Now you're pissed off and tired and on top of all that, you have to kickstart your stubborn 4 stroke.

Literally took 10 minutes to install. High quality part. If I had to guess, 30-40% decrease in lever pull which was the main reason for the purchase.

Put this system on a 2001 RM 250. I've gotten used to hydraulic clutches over the years on my Husky's and KTM's. Picked up an older RM250 for a track bike, swapped out the cable system for the Magura Hydraulic system, clutch pulls nice and easy like my other bikes now.

I am pleased with this clutch I put on my Works Edition Honda. The fitment was perfect, other than the electric cable that came to replace my stock start switch had a connector on it. There is no connector on this bike. So I did have to splice and heat shrink in the new wire to the stock one, which I won't lie about gave me a heart attack. It works great, however! Feels like it came from the factory with it. Would definitely recommend. I even took a pretty heavy crash this weekend on the left side where the mounts for my bars bent. The clutch held up perfectly. It is pricey, but the clutch pull is worth it and it is a quality product.

I bought this HYMEC clutch system and I can say I am disappointed on how it just doesn't work. I installed it correctly and even with tech support we still could not get it to work properly. the system is suppose to be for my make and model of bike and it should be bolt on. however if you buy this system be prepared to modify it so it will work and it probably still will not work right. I can guarantee next time I will do my research because if you look hard enough plenty of people are having the same issue as I am

It works well. It's a very good upgrade. If you're still pulling cables, I recommend giving the hydraulic clutch a try. Its self adjusting, very consistent and has a much easier pull.

The price is high but once installed it is easier to swallow. Installation was easy and fast. Initially the clutch would not disengage fully,had to add shims under the biggest spacer to get it to function correctly.. one would think for the price they could throw in some 3 to4 extra shims for fine tuning. Now it works great, clutch pull much easier.

I put this on my Honda 450. I have ridden KTM exclusively for years now with hydro clutches and the cable clutch on this bike is a bear. The installation is very simple, it fits well. The piston that mounts to the case does wiggle a bit when the lever is pulled but over 10 bike hours has stayed in place in all conditions. I do think the clutch costs a bit much but for the riding comfort I can't complain too much. I has a very light pull but the engagement point is still fairly narrow.

It took some work but worth it by far. I orderd the magura clutch that was supposed to fit my 17' wr450 however it didnt come plug and play and required some work for this bike. Here is what I had to do:
1) stock clutch had clutch switch that I had to bypass. I purchased a bypass plug. No big deal.
2) Since my bike has a wrap around header pipe, I wrapped it with heat wrap just above where the magura master cylinder sits so that pipe wont overheat master cylnder rubber grommets.
3) The magura master cylinder fit perfectly into my bikes mount bracket however the one washer wasnt enough to shim, I had to use three washers to get proper fitment for clutch operation - again not a big deal.
4) Most important *** the actuator rod didnt fit flush in the nipple barrel that Magura sent which meant it wouldnt fit into my bikes nipple seat. Solution? I honed out the nipple barrel with a drill bit until the end of the actuator rod was flush, then it fit properly. I also added some heat wrap around master cylinder to prevent mud/water from getting inside. Last point here is that the magura nipple barrel will fit properly into the wr's nipple sit seat but it will stick up about an inch higher out the top. Looks funky, more cosemtic, no one will see it unless they look down there and it will hold tight while riding.

All that to say I am now very very happy having gone from a wire clutch to hydraulic where I am now a one-finger shifter. Some say in these reviews they didnt noticed a difference? I'd say its at least 50% lighter pull and really its smooth as can be and while I hated the install, it was well worth the time given the benefits to my riding.

Excellent addition to my two stroke. Sold my Rekluse just because having this made using the clutch so much easier. I highly recommend for any bike!

Very happy with this upgrade. No complaints after about 1500 miles. Had to find a new home for the choke mechanism. Other than that no issues bolting this on in about 20 min. I did put a piece of rubber hose over the line, down at the bottom where the line runs close to the exhaust, just as a precaution. if the line melts, you are dead in the water.

Very satisfied with the product I put it on my 2020 yz250x. Makes the pull significantly easier. Is a great up grade if you race. Makes a lot of difference over 2hrs.

I have had this exact kit installed on my 2002 CR250 for a little over a year. The perch clamp is a very cheap casting that broke within a month. The slave cylinder does not come with any sort of seal between the cap and the cylinder itself which allows dirt into the system to damage the plunger. This happened to me on my last ride and lead to a complete failure of the hydraulic system. I'm really not impressed with the quality of this kit for the price ($250). When it works, it works well, but I have had far too many issues with it.

i got this for my 2017 honda crf450rx and it is more then worth it. changed the bike completly for me. same engagement everytime install wasnt that hard but the instrustions that it comes with are not the best basic knowledge of how a clutch is routed and your set. had it on for close to 50hrs with tipovers/crashes in races and on the trails not one problem with it well worth it. it is a bit spendy and the mount on the case could be stiffer but still amazing product .

I'd been thinking of buying this for my 05 RM-250 for years but it was expensive enough that I procrastinated. I finally bit the bullet and got it last year. It's excellent! The installation was easy and the clutch pull is so light it's amazing. Very smooth operation and I never have to lube my clutch cable again. I used to do that every other ride and even then the pull was stiffer than the Magura. Highly recommended

This clutch is awesome. Much easier then a cable clutch, now don’t get me wrong my cable clutch wasn’t that bad honestly but this hydraulic clutch is well worth the money. I had to use all 3 shims when I put a new Hinson clutch kit with there springs in my bike.

Awesome Product hands down. No more arm pump!!! For the Ltr450 best way to route the clutch line is running it opposite from oem. Run the clutch line on the same side as your clutch/shifter. If you run it through its normal pathway their is a possibility your exhaust will burn the line, but keep in mind this is for ltr450 riders. Otherwise best investment on the market. Fast and easy service from rocky.

Really like the magura clutch set up rode it and noticed it wasn't fully engaged re bleed it works fine now got it on a yz250 and it's a great thing to have a lot better than a cable set up

Install was pretty straight forward but the instructions are terrible. Need simple mechanical knowledge or have a pro install it.
The pull on this clutch doesn’t feel very much lighter than what cane stock on my 2019 KX250F. Even put the stock clutch back on to check and it’s almost the same. I wouldn’t buy it again.

Simple straight forward installation and it has a smoother operation than a cable.

People may say it is not as reliable as the factory cable clutch lever and they would be right. But the smooth and light pull is worth it too me! It was little tricky to install as I had to adjust the bracket to accept the thicker pull rod vs the cable? but once I got it in it was super easy.

Highly recommended. One of the best mods I have ever done to my dirtbikes. Unit came fully bled and ready to assemble. Install very easy took me about 1 1/2 hours. Instructions are very hard to follow however due to the obvious language barrier. Only complaint I have is the replacement lever that rmatvmc sells doesn’t fit the current hymec 167 unit they are selling. Clutch pull about the same force as a well maintained cable on my crf450x

The clutch on my bike was really hard to pull. It wasn't bad... but by the end of the day, my hand was done. No way I could actuate it with one finger. NIGHT AND DAY with this setup! One finger does all the work now. I did need to make an angled shim to keep the slave cylinder lined up. Not a big deal. Drill a hole in some bar stock and grind one side down until it lines things up. ;)

Works great, ive had one on an 06 rm 250 and i never really messed with it, it wasnt perfect. Now this one i bought for my 09 yz450f i put a tiny little washer inbetween the piston and mount and adjusted my clutch lever and got it perfect. You may or may not have to mess with it but have no fear, just take a little bit of time to make sure its engaging and disengaging where you want it. It makes a huge difference in clutch pull. They say like 20-30% but its really like 50-65% easier imo. I race woods and ride motocross. I can 1 finger it for quite sometime in the woods. After like 2 hours i might have to use 2.

Was surprised how well this worked. I installed some hinson springs in my clutch and was a tad too stiff for my older hands. This went right on my cr125 in 20min and works as intended. Dont have a long term report and probably never will because I dont ride much but all in all nice

Best investment of my life. With tendinitis and arthritis in my left wrist it's hard to use a standard cable clutch on my yz250f. This conversion made a huge difference and helped eliminate arm pump and made it so much easier in technical areas. If you don't have one yet this is definitely a must have.

This item took some patience to install. In order to get it to work properly, I had to slightly bend my clutch cable bracket, but no big deal. Also, I had to shim it with washers. It works as advertised and my clutch pull is like butter.

i like it a lot not much easier than stock for me the bonus is no fade so it stays easy and no maintenance so far over a year later still works like new one finger agustment when needed

I bought this for my 2012 CRF 450. I have a full hinson clutch in it as well. It cut my pull down in half, I barley have to pull and its at my bar! That part I love. What I don't like is the clutch engages 2 mm away from my fingers. I am afraid the clutch isn't fully engaging when I shift. I put two spacers in between where it mounts to my motor just like the cable did. Does anyone have any tips on how to get my clutch to engage farther away from my handlebar? Any bit helps! Thanks.

Bought this clutch system for my 2012 YZ250f. i only ride woods, and i feel it pulls a bit easier then the stock cable clutch did. when reading through the installation instructions they made it sound like it would require you to oil it and bleed it, but you do not. installation was fairly easy, small modifications to the bike but its all right in the manual. tech support was pretty help full too when i called to ask a stupid question. if i could buy it for my other bike i would.

I purchased the fitment RM suggested for the 2015 Yamaha WR450F and it fit my 2015 Yamaha WR250F perfectly. I needed to pull up/back the FMF exhaust spring to obtain the required 4-6 mm clearance where the slave cylinder attaches to the bike. That was important because the clutch and slave cylinder have to move in order to adjust to thermal expansion. Great product and an excellent upgrade to any cable clutch system.

This vastly improved the clutch pull on my 2008 YZ450F. It is an easy one finger pull where before using two fingers was difficult even with a brand new heavily lubed cable. I deducted one star due to it not being an exact fit. I had to get longer bolts (M4-.75 X 20) and flat washers to space the slave cylinder out and engage the clutch. The clutch lever is full length and barely fits in my handguards.

Installed this on my KX250 with a Tusk HD clutch kit and it transformed the performance. I went from needing 3 fingers to fully disengage the clutch to one. This is right up there with my FWW and Gnarley pipe as the best woods mods I've installed.

I wish I would have read all of the reviews...The supplied lever is definitely too long to mount the unit on the handlebars. It sticks way past the handlebar end, and won't work with hand guards. The unit is definitely generic fitment and function. Mounting it on my 1993 CR250 with heavy duty springs seemed like a great idea. I had been using an aftermarket perch with shorty handle and the pull was significant. I ordered the shorty handle for the Magura, and am worried about the difficulty of pull. With the stock handle, I notice no difference in ease of pull, which means a shorter handle may be even more difficult to actuate. So far, the only advantage is self adjustment. If the shorty handle makes for a more difficult pull, then the unit will be unusable, and a huge waste of money. I will review further after I install the shorty handle. Also, I had to use every shim they supplied (about a half inch worth).

Wow love this clutch and swapped YZ 250 clutch springs with the 250x springs. Easy pull no more clutch adjustments. Ride/race all day! But get the shorty lever!

I bought this after reading about the lighter pull that this clutch lever provides, and it does that reasonably well. I would certainly recommend it for that, however.....

For a premium product, packaging sucks. Everything is jumbled into an oversized box and just rattles around. This is nitpicky and normally I would overlook something like that, but that attitude is noticeable through the whole product. The manual is a jumble of xeroxed papers befitting some cheap knockoff. The clutch lever assembly feels like a jumble of parts that was collected with a "good enough" attitude resulting in a scenario where the clutch never fully disengages(like one size fits all, it kinda works, but kinda not right(yes, I did spend quite a bit of time trying to dial it in)). The bar mount has no mirror boss/threads, even though it specifically says that this is for WR250R, which is a street-legal bike and comes with mirrors stock. If you want a replacement clamp with a boss, it is available separately for more money.

With that said, I've been riding with it for about 6 months now and it works well enough that my next bike is now required to have a hydraulic clutch partly because it feels pretty nice and partly because I would avoid buying an aftermarket one from magura again. For 250+, I feel disappointed in the way the small things were overlooked. If it was properly dialed for my bike, I'd probably give this 5 stars.

I was unsure whether It was worth the money to put this on my 2007 KX 250 two stroke. I decided to go for it. After hooking it up with the spacer i found that it was a little wobbly where it mounts to the motor. It hasn't been an issue so far but the clutch runs amazing. I actually stopped getting arm pump in my left arm and only get it in my right now. I use my middle finger to feather the clutch all the time. Never need more than one finger to pull it back.

Had this for a kx250f, night and day. Better than stock, used it for 2 years and held up very well, never have to adjust or anything, come ready, no bleeding necessary pretty fool proof, never had any problems with it would by again, definitely will put on other bikes.

Hydraulic pull is awesome. I have damage to my clutch hand. This kit was the ticket. Easy single finger pull for my YZ125. Thinking about one for each of my bikes.

I have ridden KX500's for 17 years now. Just installed a Magura hydraulic clutch. Had no idea what I was missing!!! Can easily be used with one or two finger engagement. Can't believe I didn't do this mod years ago. Only gripe is the clutch lever that Magura sends with it is way too long.

Was excited for a Hydraulic clutch upgrade on my CRF 450R and am pretty disappointed in this one. First the fitment isn't great - The clutch actuating lever down at the case actually bottoms out before the bar lever gets close to the bar. Took a lot of finessing and some custom washer work to get the clutch where it would semi work. If your looking to add this on your Honda I'd say steer clear or try and find a Brembo that would work.

The unit came out of the box with a bracket that was incorrect. Luckily I can fabricate and weld or I would have been stuck. My clutch lever was always super stiff and I would get arm pump. After installing the clutch assembly it was super easy. loved it but it has now failed and allows air to enter the system. I have 2 other friends with the same issue so they need to protect the master cylinder better so dirt does not enter and ruin it. Lasted 6 months.

I was a little hesitant at first simply due to the price. However, after getting it installed any questions I had were answered. Coming from an extremely stiff cable clutch to this is night and day. I ride tight woods/ hare scrambles and would not hesitate to buy this again. Worth every penny and seems to be very high quality.

I did have to cut down the provided spacers so it would grab at the right point. Not a big deal.
