Works way better than the previos version with the ropes. If u have colored rims u want 2 keep fresh these are a must if ur doing your own maintance with tire irons. Pretty slick product glad i seen them on Rocky mountains website. Stay classy & nab a set of motion pro's rimshield 2.
They work really well a little hard to slide around the rim but we started spraying them with wd40 works good. We have not put one scratch in our rims so far just takes a few more minutes to mount tires
Work ok for taking tires off the rim. Not useful to put tire back on. I found they got in the way more than anything when putting a new tire on, so still scrathed the wheel regardless. To pop ones tire side off to pull a tube and fix when you're out theyd be perfect. The material seems to be good. Irons hardly marked them getting some very stiff tires off with aggression haha.
Bought these to help protectmy rims. Although they do protect them, they are not durable and one got deformed a bit when working a stiff tire. Not sure what a good alternative is...but they are not that tough.
I've never changed a motorcycle tire before but recently, I changed my front and rear tires on my YZ250F. I know it's a dirt bike, but I didn't want to contribute scars/scratches that were not earned while riding it. At the suggestion of another reviewer, I purchased two packs, 4 total, of these, They worked perfectly! I did not leave a single scratch on my rims. I did crush/crack one of them though, but that was taking off a 19" tire from a 19" rim. Man those are hard! But I still have three perfectly good shields to use for the next time. If you don't like installation scratches, I highly recommend these.
Seems like a great idea, but the just seem to make changing a tire harder, as they really don’t stay in place and deform easily with a tire iron near them. I’ll deal with scratches as my bike is a woods bike anyways.
Like that they are less prone to falling into the tire while you're trying to remove or install the tire, but wish they were more heavy duty. The plastic is kind of thin, should've saved my money and bought two sets of the cheaper rim savers for the same price of these.
These protect your black rims from scratching during tire changes, but make the difficult task of changing tires even move difficult. Hard to get the tire iron between these and the tire. Plus they crack & don't last more than a few tire changes.
If you don't want scratches to your rims these are a must have. they do work. If you are not a pro tire changer then I would recommend 3 sets of these to make your life easier and your rims will be prettier.
Motion pro keeps your wheels looking good by making sure you don't scratch them up with you tire irons. These rim shields work very well, much better design than there previous ones that were much smaller and had the ropes attached to them. I would recommend if you don't like scratching up your wheels.
These are much higher quality than I expected them to be. They slip onto the rim very easily and actually help to ease the iron to pry the tire by being a little slick. They even store easily in the toolbox.
I don't have a lot of experience with putting on tires but after buying new black wheels, I knew I would have to pay someone or buy something to help me! These RimShields are a must have for the novice like myself! Took a little longer and patience to move the shields in place but they work!! Not a Scratch!!
A good quality product but a little expensive for what it is. Also they are thick so it's just more material to get the bead past. They are a better product than the Tusk protectors. I am staying with using quality alloy tire irons, bead buddy, and lots of tire mounting lube. With some care no scratched rims.
These work! Just bought my son a set of tusk black rims for his CRF450 and of course didn't want to scratch them installing tires, so I got a pair these.
Definitely worth the price. Could probably use a third one, so I might buy a second pair.
We ride MX and the newer tires (Dunlop MX 32 and MX3s) seem to be getting stiffer sidewalls and therefore are getting more difficult to install. These rim shields are made of some tough stuff that holds up to the force we use to get the beads over the rims. I use tire mount spray on the beads of the tubes but also on these shields and it helps make the tire irons go on a little easier.
Bottom line: Get these to protect your rims. They don't make it easier but they do keep your rims from scratches and gouges of tire irons.
