I purchased my first set of ODI grips last season and just purchased another set for my other project quad. The first set I bought had a little play in the locking mount which I wasn't a big fan of. The new set does not have it but was difficult to get over the roughed up clutch side of my handle bars.
I thought the idea of these was great. 2 cons. 1- they don't easily slip over the serrated bar on the clutch side if you have Pro Tapers. I had to use a flat head screwdriver to pry and push the inside lock over which became a bit of a hassle scaring up the lock and new bars. In turn, the nice aluminum piece got a little botched up. Not to mention, when I banged the grip on with a plastic hammer, I didn't align the grip properly, and no way to move it. The throttle side went on in seconds and is good and tightened up fine.
2- Con 2- It does as previously stated add 1/4" of gap to the controls, which is a little annoying as I like my thumb throttle mated up to my grip.
Other than that it's a great idea and they are on. When it's time to remove I plan on cutting the clutch side grip off and going with some conventional grips or grind down the the hatching on the Pro Tapers so there is zero struggle getting the grip on.
TECH NOTE: MAY REQUIRE SOME SANDING OF THE KNURLED END ON THE PRO-TAPER HANDLEBARS
These work great but the grip feels a little small. I've also used the Rogue pattern and prefer those.
I changed my rating to average. These grips have not seen a lot of use but the rubber is wearing pretty quickly. The original grips lasted ten years and now with only occasional use they are showing a lot of wear.
UPDATE: The atv on which these grips are mounted has not been seeing heavy use but the grips continue to wear rapidly. I like them but considering how quickly they are wearing I would not buy them again.
I absolutely love the lock on grips. Easy to install, easy to change. They never slip like glue-ons if not glued on right. You can easily change them out for new ones or different ones. The compound doesn't last the longest, but that's what you get with softer compounds. I only wish they had more styles available.
No more grip glue and safety wire!! I bought these for my wife's 2008 Trailblazer 330 as a test. As soon as I put my hands on them I knew they should be on my KTM powered Outlaw 525-S Awesome quality. Will be buying 3 more sets for my ATV.
