    Sw Motech centre stand
Mounts easy, totally changes chain maintenance. Do yourself a favour and get the lift handle as well. I ordered hi e after installing the stand because there is no good grip point without it.

    No good for trails
Overbuild is nice, think twice if you ride hard and fast though. I put this on an ‘09 KLR and it was great until we did 800 miles through the Moab desert in Utah. The spring isn’t strong enough to hold the stand up and out of the way for hard and fast trail riding. I could feel it drop down and catch on rocks and the trail. If you’re mostly slab and fire roads you should be fine, but if you like to get after it on the trails don’t waste your money.

    Fits perfect. Easy install.
I’ve had an OEM center stand on my last Vstrom. That one was a bad design and the step assist lever broke off and had to be welded. This design looks much stronger.

Sw-Motech Center Stand a must have for a KLR
Installed easily on my 2013 KLR650. A must have for maintenance and a big plus for changing a flat tire. For the price it would be nice if they included the accessory lift handle.
    I recommend it.

I installed the SW Motech center stand on my '18 along with the lift handle. For my last KLR I was using a smaller sized lift from a discount too store, always seemed to be a little shaky to me. I should have got this center stand a long time ago, it makes lifting the bike so much easier and stable once up. If you do any kind of trail or off road riding think how else you might have to lift the bike to change the rear tire. This is the perfect solution for that also.

    This thing is beefy.
I bought this for my '13 KLR 650. It bolted up easily, had all the needed hardware and is very sturdy. It appears to be made from 0.200" aluminum. I would still recommend putting on the low profile drain bolt though, as it still doesn't put that completely out of danger.

    SW Motech Center Stand
Have not used it except to try it out. I gave it a overall rating of 4 because of the difficulty getting it onto the stand. That could be the fault of nowhere to grip on the KLR650, so I ordered the lift handle assist to go with it. Will see if that makes a difference. Had to have help raising it onto stand.

I have this on my 2015 KLR650 Stock Height, am lowering the bike 2 inches. Is this a going to be a problem?
    A shopper on Jan 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: In my opinion, there will be 2 small problems with this stand on a lowered bike.
    1. The bike will be more difficult to lift on the stand because the pivot point will be at more of an acute angle than when at stock height. That is it will contact the ground sooner and you’ll have to lift it through more of its pivot. Still doable, just harder. Especially if you load it down.
    2. There is a higher chance for trail debris to kick up and bend or twist or otherwise damage the stand.

I also have this on my 2015 KLR. I have kept mine at stock height and when loaded it can be difficult to get onto the stand just from the added sag and obviously weight.
My riding buddy had his twist so badly from a tree branch kicking up that it became unusable.
I love having the center stand for tire changes, maintenance, cleaning, sometimes parking. I would definitely recommend having one, just be aware it may be difficult, to the point of unusable, with the bike that low.
Do you still have to use the original side stand, a few of the center stands I've looked at you have to put down the side stand get off the bike then put the center stand down?
    A shopper on Dec 7, 2016
    BEST ANSWER: 12/9/2016
    Hello,
I purchased and installed this item and am very happy with it. To answer your question, you do not have to put down the side stand to use this center stand. In fact, while you have to dismount the motorcycle to use this center stand, you absolutely do NOT want to put down the side stand as it will interfere with using the center stand, making it hard to use and possibly having a whacked shin when putting the bike up. I use both stands on my motorcycle, but at different times and for different purposes.
I have a Suzuki DR650 and this product makes working on the rear tire and chain so much easier. I would by this product again and recommend it.
Any difficulty with this fitting a Africa Twin? Installation issues?
    A shopper on Apr 1, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I installed mine on my 2014 Suzuki V-Strom. I am not very technical and it took me about an hour and a half. Pretty straight forward instructions. Only recommendation would be, buy a spring pulling tool along with it to assist with main spring.
Just install the center stand on a 2016 KLR650 and I'm concern because the foot use to put the bike on the center stand, touch the swim arm when opening and closing, also the chain is in constant contact with the center stand, which eventually will damage the chain . I also notice that the center stand have quite a bit of lateral play on the pivots (Is this normal?). I triple check the instructions and everything appear to be correct. Any advise?
    Roberto R on Feb 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: If the picture is the one installed on your 2016 KLR650, you may have been shipped the wrong center stand for older KLR's, or you may have ordered the wrong part #. My 2015 KLR 650 center stand did not have that long a foot lever on it, plus it has a bolt adjustment to keep the stand from hitting the chain while in the raised position. I would check the part #'s first to see if this is actually for your 2016 model. As for the lateral movement, again, it could be the wrong stand for your model year.
Is there any advantage of this center stand compared to the Honda OEM Centerstand?
    DAN B on Nov 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I purchased mine for a KLR 650. One thing I do not like which is probably standard is the spring is a little light when in the up position. When going over rough areas it will slap around a lot making all kinds of noise.
Can you use 2008 center stands on a 2007 KLR ?

Wil this SW-Motech centerstand mount and function properly on a 2017 Kawasaki KLR650 with a Happy Trails skidplate?
    Ezra L on Sep 15, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I have a 2016 with the sw motech stand and happy trails stand. And works perfectly. I also have a 2015 with both happy trails stand and plate. I like the happy trails stand better. Seems better made. And the price is about the same. Either way you will be fine.
Will this work with Ricochet skid plate?
    Andrew H on Nov 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I just installed the Ricochet skid plate SW-Motech centerstad and crashbars, they all fit together quite well! And I have also tested the Ricochet skid plate taking the full force of the bike multiple times with no dents just a few scratches! It's a good pice of kit! Center stand is great and stays well out of the way on the trail, never hangs up on anything and it's easy to get the bike up on to it!
Will this stand for a 93 KLR650? It isn't listed. Thx!
