Trail Tech Voyager Pro, the Connected Rider’s GPS. A premium GPS for Powersports.

The map screen is enabled with base maps, topography lines, hill shading, and some trails. Record or load GPX trails and riding areas, and transfer to a PC using the MicroSD card. Voyager Pro comes loaded with North American maps, but other map regions can be downloaded for free.

Amongst the major features is Buddy Tracking. Buddy Tracking uses localized radio signals and can support up to 20 riders in a single group. View members of your ride group on the map screen in real time, increase your following distances, and use the emergency beacon to summon your buddies. Cell reception is not required.

Voyager Pro is Bluetooth enabled for intercom, phone and media controls. Play songs from your phone or MicroSD card using a Bluetooth headset, speaker, or intercom. Two phones and two headsets can be connected at the same time.

The 4" glove friendly color touchscreen TFT display is visible in all conditions, including direct sunlight. Sealed and rated IP67 for anti-dust/water intrusion, it’s built to withstand the harshest elements that come with extreme riding conditions. The mounting dock hard mounts to the dashboard, can be locked, and allows for quick removal of Voyager Pro from the machine. The dock utilizes the AMPs hole pattern, and is compatible with the full line of RAM brand mounts or Trail Tech mounting hardware.

Voyager Pro integrates with your vehicle using standard Trail Tech vehicle sensors, providing vital ride data such as engine temperature, RPM, battery voltage, speed/distance and more.

At 5.6 x 3.5 inches, Voyager Pro still fits on dirt bike dashboards, but is big enough to use on adventure bikes and UTVs. Voyager Pro’s mapping abilities and buddy tracking make it the premium choice for off-road riders.

12V DC power required, make sure your vehicle has a battery.

Good Product with a couple of big misses
I’m torn between a 3 star or 4, here’s why. This is a really cool unit and does a ton of cool stuff. The install is a major pain in the butt. The directions are absolutely terrible. On my KTM there were some major oversights on Trail Tech’s part. For example, the stock speedo cable on a KTM works and would simply plug right into the computer. Except that TT doesn’t supply a .50 cent adapter to make the stock cable work. Your options are to replace the whole cable or splice it. If you want to use the stock cable tube you have to splice it anyway because the connector on the cable is too big to fit through. Install took about 3 hours.

Here is my biggest gripe and an inexcusable design. The MAIN reason I bought this was the buddy alert. If your buddies have the same unit (mine do) and one of them needs help they can send an emergency beacon to the group. Basic common sense would be to design the alert to flash something big across the other screens in the group. Nope. A tiny little buddy icon at the top of the screen about the size of a small pea changes from white to red. You will never notice it when riding as you barely notice it when you’re staring at the screen watching for the icon to turn red. This is so inexcusable in my opinion and made me want to return the unit. However I had already spent 3+ hours installing it.

My final gripe is the unit sticks up too far and is minutes by a plastic arm. One good crash that rolls the bike and I assure you the mount will break.

Aside from my two major gripes the unit is very cool and functions well. It keeps you in tune with the bike through riding and bike data. I’m happy I bought the unit, I enjoy my rides even more and looking forward to really using some of the map features. This could have been the perfect product with just some basic common sense that seemed to be missing in the development process. However at $600 they should have addressed these basics.

Performs as advertised
I purchased one of these in August to go on a dual sport trip in Colorado with a buddy. We both purchased them and used the buddy tracking. The bluetooth was a little confusing to get setup and the first firmware versions seemed to disconnect quite a few times. Once it all worked it worked really well. We use it with Sena 10R headsets. It was typically just over a mile before it would lose communication with the buddy system.

One thing I would like to see them change in the firmware is the buddy problem indicator. It only shows up on the screen as a red icon. I would like to see it configurable to use the two led indicators that are used for temperature warnings at the top of the display. They are much more noticeable.

I did have the display freeze once where it didn't respond to touch or any buttons. I preordered mine directly from Trailtech so it could have been something with the initial firmware. If this happens to you on the trail just hold all of the buttons at the same time and it will force a reset.

Any GPX editor can be used to customize trails. If you know where you are going just pre-download all of the maps for that system ahead of time. Caltopo is my favorite.

Go out, get lost, and the next time you look down a foreign path just go for it. The coolest things are found by accident. So the next time someone says do you want to try to go down that? Just reply "Yes Man" like Jim Carry

Seems nice so far, but installation is not easy
If you have a stabilizer and no risers it most likely won't fit. I am going to mount it on a ball mount tomorrow most likely. The wires seem short out of the mount, just so you know. I am hoping my wires on the 501 reach.

The software and usability of the unit seem very good. This is my first trailtech product.

I would not see this as a Montana or full featured gps replacement at all. This is just an upgraded voyager with maps. I really like the screen and the functionality as a dirt bike gauge replacement. This is what I was looking for.

Beautuful Screen and Much Easier to Use
The new screen is beautiful and is finally more like a real navigation unit. It's much bigger then the old Voyager and it is much easier to use.

Is this the "Universal Model" or is this the"bike specific" model (in accordance with your selected machine profile)?

BEST ANSWER: This is a machine specific part. It will have you enter in your machine to put the item in your cart.
Is it preloaded with the Michigan ORV trails?

Trail Tech Voyager GPS/Computer
Trail Tech Voyager GPS/Computer
BEST ANSWER: The standard plastic bracket works fine, but if the bike is used enthusiastically, I would highly recommend the Aluminium Machined bracket that surrounds and protects the Voyager a lot better.
If you order model specific, it should come with everything you need. Mine was really easy to install, use it off the internal battery and been quite easy to learn.
Does this show the bike engine hours?
Scott L on Aug 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Scott. I had the same question before I bought it and yes, it does. You have to go into the vehicle profile menu, scroll down to "ACC ENG HRS", and then select it, and input you current hours. I did this when I took my stock KTM odo off and added the Voyager.

Also, it will keep counting hours even if you reset all your tracks. Of course, if you aren't concerned about total hours on the bike and just your intervals, you can reset the hourmeter manually. There is also an option to make the hourmeter visible on the customizale screen so that you can see it continually.
Does it have a programmable odometer?
Travis M on Aug 5, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes. In the main menu setup, you can set the odometer. For example, I was able to set up the odometer to match my stock KTM Odo so that my mileage was accurate after switching computers. Additionally, there is a separate hourmeter that you can also adjust to keep track of your hours for maintenance. Both are able to be reset as well.
I would like to know if the Voyager Pro simply has regular street GPS as well as trails. I mean if I get this will I need another GPS for the roads?
Ben K on Dec 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It doesn't have "turn by turn" GPS like a normal navigation unit would. However, you can preload a gpx file of your route (or even a secondary route if you choose) and make your turns the waypoints, then simply load from the main menu and you will be good to go.

Please keep in mind that you will have to pay attention to the tracker as it will not give you the audio turn by turn.
Does this have google maps for street directions ?
A shopper on Apr 22, 2019
BEST ANSWER: No, this unit will not do turn by turn guidance. You load in the gpx tracks you have developed and follow the line. You can create waypoints etc where fuel, food etc is located but you have to navigate to it yourself.
I have a 2012 DRZ 400S ,can or does the Voyager take the place of the instrument display that is they are now? Does this come with a program that allows me to build a route on my laptop and then download to the voyager?
Eugenio R on Mar 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: In a two part answer to your question:

They voyager can take the place of the OEM DRZ instrument panel, however, it doesn't have to. You can install the Voyager to the handlebar and select the speed to calculate via GPS. That way, you can keep your OEM clsuter intact and your hours/miles accurate in case you decide to sell the bike later. Inside the voyager is a hourmeter that you can set at intervals for maintenance if needed as well.

Trail Tech developed it's rideleader software so that you can create a route, download it to a gpx file on an SD card and then install it into the Voyager for custom routes. Conversely, you can track your route as you travel and then export the file to the SD card and then to your computer to create a Google Earth lmz of your travels. It is covered in the software tutorial as well as several videos online.
does it have satellite view? google earth?
Craig K on Nov 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: If you are referring to Google Earth's updated aerial imagery, then no. It does have a screen that will show you how many satellites are connected to the Voyager and how good the signal is at any given time.

However, if you are looking to track your trails and then convert them into KMZ or KML formats, that can be done through Trailtech's Ride software on a CPU and the results are quite accurate.
How does tracking the other 20 riders work?
A shopper on Oct 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Do you mean how does it work or how does it work?

I’ve been using the TTVP for a few months and the rider tracking works awesome!

At the trailhead you’ll set up a rider group and add buddies to your group list. Once you’ve gone through initial setup, future rides they will automatically join your group.

The map can auto adjust to keep the full group on screen. You can select a rider, get distance and directions to them. You can set emergency alerts if you are in trouble to call for help. We’ve been able to track people about 1.5 miles away so far.

I highly recommend this unit based on the experience so far.
will the trail tech voyager pro have california trials loaded in it?
scott z on Sep 9, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The map screen is enabled with base maps, topography lines, hill shading, and some trails. Record or load GPX trails and riding areas, and transfer to a PC using the MicroSD card. Voyager Pro comes loaded with North American maps, but other map regions can be downloaded for free.
Does it have a speedometer that can be programmed?
aidyn m on Aug 8, 2019

Baja map?
THOMAS JAY J on Jan 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Thomas,

Trail Tech has a downloadable map for Mexico and Central America on their website (13 GB) that you put on a card for the Voyager Pro. For context here, let me say that I just did a Baja trip on my XR650R with the Voyager Pro in Nov 2018 for about 9 days. And I have done about 100 trips to Mexico, mostly in 4WDs. Back in the early 1990s I would navigate around Baja with a AAA map and a compass. Later I used the Baja Mapbook/Atlas. In the 2000s I started using GPS when it would help. When Google Earth came out I used it extensively for finding new routes while at home.

The Trail Tech Baja map for the Voyager Pro is quite basic and not super usable for motorcycle navigation. But that is not really Trail Tech's fault, as good topo maps for Baja are not readily available (AFAIK). You see, I have likely seen almost all modern topo maps for Baja, and even the best stuff out there is quite basic. Much of it has not been ground-truthed.

For our 2018 Baja trip my buddy put the navigation app Gaia on his phone and then downloaded a bunch of satellite imagery "blocks" for the routes we might take. I sent him KML files from the Baja trail routes I planned out on Google Earth at home, as well as some Baja motorcycle routes I gathered on the web. He loaded all these on his phone. We were able to see all these routes and our current location on his phone at all times in Baja (with no cell signal), with good satellite photo as a the backdrop....Trail Tech: THIS would be awesome if you could make this same set-up work on the Voyager Pro! Thomas: For Baja I suggest you do the same as my buddy did on your smart phone. Cheers, Jon

Does it have maps of northern calif?
dave c on Aug 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You can download the maps and record the trails you ride while riding.
I have a 2015 yz450f and it doesn’t have a battery. In the product description it says “12V DC power required, make sure your vehicle has a battery.”

How can I power the unit without a battery?
Ryan B on Aug 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can power the unit without a battery on your machine because the unit comes with a battery: Internal battery: 3.7V 3100 MAH LI-Ion. I can not guarantee it will work like it is intended without proper installation.
